One Piece Attacks

Hello, I would like to dedicate my first thread on this forum to discuss the many different attacks and moves preformed by characters through the series. First I must say that no other manga I've ever read has had such a large variety of inventive moves. Feel free to talk about your favorite attacks, characters fighting styles or puns and hidden meanings you might've discovered (we know Oda likes to put those in, specially in Zoro's attacks)

Gomu gomu no Ono - I just love this attack! The first time I watched Luffy use it to shatter the Baratie battlefield it looked like it almost was a little too powerful this early in the series. Shortly afterwards he broke Arlong's neck with it and sent the entire building crashing down on him. It looks so damn painful to get hit by it. Hopefully Oda will give this attack a "jet" version soon.

Deserto La Spada - This is Crocodile's last attack performed before getting owned by Luffy's storm. Now, Crocodile ain't stupid so he must've realized that his enemy was about to do sometning big when Luffy inflated himself like that. Besides, Croc had a disadvantage being in the air. Why did he chose this, previously not seen attack in this desperate situation? Sure it looks cool, but it doesn't seem stronger than his previous attack, Sables Pesado. I would've liked to see what kind of damage this attack was capable of if it had hit.

Coup De Vent - The second Franky let loose this baby he became my favorite character in the series. Previously a so-so fighter with flashy moves now rips an entire ship apart and destroys a few cranes too while he's at it. This had been my biggest worry in the question whether he or Paulie would join the strawhats. A dude that powerful would outclass Luffy and the rest easely, but after the revelation that every attack costs bottles of cola those kind of moves can only be used as desperation moves when there does'nt seem to be another way out.

I imagine that that Gomu Gomu no ono might get upgrades with twisting like the pistol->rifle did, who it will hit I don't know.

Chopper's arm point= raw, steroid-enhance power. Chopper's main finisher so far.

Hapiness punch: I wanted to mention this before someone else did. I have deja vu now, is there a topic for this already?

I also like Franky's "Strong Right." One of the first time's I've seen a blunt attack hurt Luffy.

Most of Sanji's attacks are very nicely illustrated by Oda. His moves look very stylish and smooth. Anti-manner is one of the cooler ones in my opinion. But I also like Reception, used on one of Wapol's men. It's a different way of using his legs than just kicking. Sadly it's currently only seen once.

One thing that I find interesting about Sanji is that he has alot more attacks that any other strawhat, like twice as many as Luffy. While most of them are used to hit specific areas on the human body, I find many of them unnecessary. It seems that Sanji's way of trying to act and look cool in dangerous situations reflects on his way of attacking too. I think he likes to make up new names for attacks that sometimes aren't really much different from other attacks. He just likes to style and show off. (I'm not bashing Sanji or anything, he's one of my favorite characters.)

For example there's his Slice Shoot he used once on Aokiji, Collier Frit and Shishinabe Shot. Not to mention all those attacks he used to "deform" Wanze's face on the Umi Ressha. It's likely we're never gonna see those attacks again, since Sanji rarely uses old moves.

Since we're on the subject of attacks, I've got a couple of questions relating to Franky's attacks.

1. What the heck does Franky's Beans Left move do? Is it an exploding punch or is it that gatling gun move he tried to blast Kaku with?

1. Either a mistranslation or he tried to shoot spicy powder.

2. Not sure. I think the ulitmate hammer is when someone is pinned down, so it would be stronger.

3. FRANKY BOXING. I technique that save cola, Franky boxes his opponent. Thank to being a cyborg, his fists are strong as steel, letting him easily break the tekkai technique.

Thanks for the answers. Now here's my favorites. Well some of them. I have to put more thought into the rest.

Gomu Gomu no Kazaguruma/Windmill: Love this move, why doesn't Oda have Luffy do this move more often? Just watching him spin like that while he has an opponent is such an enjoyment and I'd like to see him use it on someone that isn't abnormally huge. Slamming them into various stone structures (or other environmental objects) in the process would deal some heavy damage.

Gomu Gomu no Ikebana: Yeah, it was gag move to use on Laboon but Movie 4 seemed to be fond of implementing it. It has the potential of being one of Luffy's deadliest attacks with or without his Gear moves.

Firebird Boshi: C'mon, you saw this coming. The very first move that showcases the power of the Kabuto and it's used to torch the WG's flag. Imagine that….on an actual fighter as the target?

Shuriken Ryuseiigun: Something about shooting a field of shuriken out of a slingshot just strikes me as cool. Usopp should that move more often.

Arm Point: I really like Chopper's desing in this form. It's just so cool looking.

Franky Centaur: Now this move is just plain wacky. Plain and simple.

Usopp's "Shuriken Stars" is one of my favorite attacks in all of One Piece.

It really proves he doesn't need no damn gun. :biggrin:

Oh, I forgot about one of Ussop's attack–the Cactus Star! I hope to see more of that one day.

Jumping Point - This is Chopper's coolest looking form in my opinion. The thing with Chopper is that he can shapeshift into many different forms to gain advantages in speed, strength, defense and so on. But he lacks actual attacks in these forms. I can picture him jumping really high and crash down on the opponent wih his hoofs or perhaps grab the enemy with his human arms, jump and slam him into the ground.

Candle Champion - This was an unexpected attack. The otherwise so defensive and calm Mr. 3 goes on a rampage, flailing his arms around, destroying everything in sight. This be truly a desperation move.
I've always wondered why he needed Goldenweek to paint the damn thing before he started attacking. The way I understand it she has to draw the Color Trap symbol in a specific color to make her powers work. Maybe Mr. 3 just wanted to look fancy, he's an artist after all…

I really like Gum Gum Bazooka. I sometimes use that move to hit some man-size plushies in my home when I'm bored… And of course, you cannot deny Gum Gum Storm. Yeah, I prefer the term Gum Gum more.

I personally think that the Ussop rubber band is the most powerful and destructive move in one piece. This is why I believe Ussop is the most powerful character in one piece. He just lets Luffy be the Captain.

I love Gomu Gomu No Storm the best, as everytime I see it a feeling of "You're gonna get raped!" flashes through my mind.

Also I have wondered when Zoro will use the Three Thousand Worlds (Is the name right?) attack again. I am really curious to see what its like when it works. I am guessing he'd use it to defeat Mihawke (whenever that happens) since it would be fitting to use it after Mihawke "defeated" the technique.

Demon Days

Ultimate Hammer is a punch with a practically 100% chance of hitting, since the opponent's pinned down. It goes straight into their face.

Strong Hammer is just a strong punch. It tends to smash them on the sides.

Now, my favourites.

Anti-Manner Kick Course: The move that cemented Sanji, in my books, as the most awesomest person ever. I'm practising this kick, and can get it about 150 degrees.

Ultimate Hammer: THE DESTRUCTIVE POWER. Enough said.

Shakushi: I found it cool how he cuts the rocks and purple smoke comes out.

Gomu Gomu no Kane: A headbutt from, like, a mile back must sting so badly.

Of couse since I am a dedicated Zoro fan I have to go with Zoro attacks.

Dragon Twister: When I first saw Zoro use this attack against Hatchi it just made my haw drop. I could not believe that he could unleash an attack like that and the fact that he could break the swords was totally awsome.

3000 Worlds: When I saw him use this against Mihawk there was no doubt in my mind at that point that he was my favorite anime character. It was just so cool the way he did it.

Eshbaal

Rankyaku White Thunder by Kaku is wicked awesome no matter how you look at it. For christ's sake, it was equal to Zoro's 72 Pound Cannon, and that says a FRIGGIN' LOT.

Of course, there's also Arlong's Shark on Darts… something about it is just wicked awesome the way I see it.

Then, there's Franky's ever-so-friggin-majigger-awesome Coup de Vent. That just rocks so goddamn hard. That, and just about every single Dial combination that is made... Wiper setting fire to a Breath Dial to make a Burn Bazooka was genius. And so is putting a Heat Dial in a lance... besides, Axe/Impact Dials = Win.
