I've seen threads for where to GET bit torrent and the corresponding files. I haven;t seen any theads for trouble shooting. If there is, please forgive me.

Anywho, I downloaded Bit Tornado. I want to get on with watching W7. (left off at 233) I've used Kazaa and such programs before, but never one of these "bit" programs. I've been downloading episodes from gerusama.

My Question: Is it suposed to take forever to download a file! I'm talking 1 to 2 days, non stop for one episode. Maybe there is some way to speed this up? Maybe if I downloaded "bit Torrent" it would be more user friendly?

yes, but that hasn't effected my connection speed for anything else. I have one other roomate home right now, and he plays online games, but not all the time.

BTW, I started another download last night, and it was finished this morning. This file had more "seeders" So I guess I have to figure out how to get more seeders.

seeders are people who are connected to the torrent with complete files, so basically if oyu finished the file and are still connected to the torrent, then YOU are a seeder. you can really get more since it simply depends on how many are connected at the time.

so it's just the luck of the draw, how many seeders are on? And in order to be a seeder, you need to keep the window open after downloading. And you can't be a seeder, if the file is on your hard drive, but you don't have a BT window open. Is there some way to bring the BT window back up again, to help others out downloading?

If I can recall, if you went back to the site you downloaded the file, and clicked on the torrent link again, instead of downloading this time you'll be seeding since you already have the file.

                Or…

And I'm not sure if bittornado has this but you can open your bittornado and go to your files and open the file you wanted to seed and you'll start seeding again.

For me, I use bitcomet and imo is fantastic. I get a much faster download rate than I did with bittorrent and instead of staying as a open windown when I minimize it, it becomes one of my toolbar icons instead.

no, bit tornado doesn't have a bar for "file, edit, etc."

bit comet huh. Gerusama didn't list that one to download, but I'll considder it. Thanks.

It seems though, that downloading is getting better. I guess it was just my luck that the first few episodes I needed, weren't seeded very well.

Personally I still use torrent storm. Even though there havn't been any updates for it in a while. I just like the interface and its really easy to download from.

I've been having a problem with BitTorrent lately. Whenever I try downloading an episode off of Gerusama, it'll say that permission is denied and it'll completely stop downloading from it. But with K-F, there's no problem with that at all. What am I doing wrong?

That's funny. I've been downloading from Gerusama all week. I have Bit Tornado though, so maybe it has something to do with that. Even so, that sounds wierd to be happening in it's self.

Make sure you're not under a firewall and check your proxy server that its connected properly to the tracker. I think bittorent is around port 6881.

                            hey, it's me again.
                            a little help trouble shooting.
Ok, I got BIT COMET, as slaygore suggested.
Right now, I have 2 files, both have been trying to connect for the past half hour.

Something tells me this might have to do with my firewall or something. (windows firewall) Though, it did bring up the firewall when I started Comet, and it asked if I wanted to let Comet through the firewall. So, if I allowed it, then it should be downloading right. I mean, I don't want to turn the firewall off. It's there for a reason.

I'm hoping maybe I'm just missing something I should be doing with Comet.
                            Any words of wisdom?

Here are two tips to increase BT speed if your ISP is doing traffic shaping (or limiting BT traffic):

                              • Use an unconventional port like something in the 50k (e.g. 51246)

                              • Turn on Encryption in your BT client., Currently, Bitcomet, Azureus and µTorrent support this.

I have been having problems with bittorent also.

I have cable modem and my internet is just as fast as ever. But recently every file I try to download through bittorent, no matter how much seeding it has, goes INCREDIBLY slow. Before the download speed went from 55kb to 60kb. Now it takes a huge amount of time to even connect. Same goes for Limewire. The only thing that I did out of the ordinary was downloading nonstop Bleach episodes these past two weeks through limewire (eps. 30 to the latest) since bittorent was being extremely slow. My current port is 6881 and I changed to utorrent.

I could really use the help.

it's possible you have downloaded or uploaded too much for your ISP(Internet Service Provider) and they have capped your ability to download for the remaining time of this month.

perhaps they limited the port? Try another port that's much higher in range. Either that, or you've just gotten a series of really slow seeds.

I changed my port to 42371 and it has gotten a little better sometimes reaching 11.7kb but not any higher. Do I change my port to a much lower number or higher number?

Edit: After around 12 minutes it has gotten from 14kb to 20kb.

I've been trying to download the batch of OP 1-10 from Kaizoku Fansubs and so far it looks like it's going to take about four or five days. I looked at Bittornado and Bitcomet but those are only for windows. Is there any way to speed it up? (note: I use a Mac)
