Interesting you mention that because I thought long and hard about that and I would find it redeeming if it weren't based solely on racist values. It's not because of their qualities, it's because of their birth. And in the real world I don't think White Supremacists loving their own people is anything worthy of being redeeming. Again, excellent point but in my book it doesn't fly.

Vol. 9 p123 Kuroobi announces it to Arlong. The series is filled with those little fun-facts and the only reason I happen upon them is when flipping through the pages to find out some other detail. Totally be accident I assure you but when you go through the pages enough times you're bound to come across them and think to yourself, "Wow, that's pointless but really neat!"

I hate advertising my site unless it pertains to the topic at hand or I have something new to offer. I already ran one "Most Popular ______ Site on the Net" in my life and at this age when I can't make daily updates I don't want to dissapoint readers. Hachi is a master of the Six Sword School techniques. He claims to be the greatest swordsman on Fishman Island…excluding one person. Who is that person? As of this writing (Spring 2006) One Piece fans are still waiting with bated breath for the answer.

You know, one thing that I find interesting and that I hadn't really thought about before is that the five Navy vessels attacking Arlong shortly after his arrival in the Conomi Islands suggests that he was pursued by them out of the Grand Line like Krieg was.
Most of the Navy Bases seen in East Blue apparently have a cruiser or similarly sized vessel attached to them; Purin-Purin, Morgan, and Nezumi all had such vessels. Five cruisers is a rather considerable warfleet, especially if they came from East Blue as it should represent about five Branches. More likely, they were the corvettes or frigates that we see making up Hina's Squadron.
The fact that they rather quickly found Arlong is a good sign that they were already in pursuit of him before he arrived in Cocoyashi, not to mention the fact that the disappearance of five Naval vessels all at once should have drawn a lot more attention than it did. If they were dispatched by local forces, then somebody should have reported such a massive loss of forces.
If Garp can come out to take delivery of a single prisoner, then I don't see any reason that the Navy can't dispatch a high ranking individual to deal with the situation much earlier.
If they were a roaming hunter-killer squadron like Hina's, then their disappearance could have been chalked up to the nature of the sea itself and not to Arlong unless Nezumi hushed up the situation even then. It's hard to reconcile Arlong's 20 million berry bounty otherwise as Nico Robin had a 79 million bounty for destroying one more ship. Yeah, that's not really the reason that she received that bounty, but the average person doesn't know that.
I imagine they were a nice show of Arlong's supreme power so that Nami knew there'd be no chance for rescue even if Marines were to show up.
Considering no Marines showed up previously they had no way of knowing Marines wouldn't be able to rescue them for sure….until Nami saw for herself.....they're fucked six ways to Luffy & Co.

One thing about Oda is that he's taking the sensible approach to that.
Luffy is going to get Robin while the rest hunt for the keys rather than putting the focus on the keys and then saving Robin.

Yeah, when he first shows up and starts extorting, that changes when he actually starts murdering people. The entire point of mentioning that only makes Nami a stronger character. If she didn't witness that then we could indeed argue, well why didn't she just wait for help?
No, she saw that Arlong was a freakin' beast and she grabbed that beast by the horns and took on the responsibility herself since she saw that no one else could come and save them. It was a brilliant move on Oda's part that makes Nami that much stronger and all at the age of 10.

I try my hardest never to assume. One look at any of the sketches of totally dropped characters, characters who ended up entirely different and even how Oda decides certain MONUMENTAL scenarios like who battles whom contained in Color Walk Series as well as some recent AWESOME sketches included in Logs and not to mention the infamous Sketch Introduction of 'Granpa Cocoro' in Vol 36 are all the proof one needs to see, Oda does not plan many things out meticulously far in advance.
Your theories are great Ubiq, but just like DB fantasy battles and the ever popular "Who's Stronger?" debates, they're all your opinion. Oda wants it to be your opinion and he doesn't care about it otherwise he would make it glaringly clear.
I left those debates behind me in my DB days. Anybody can call up lines but that's all they are because you can either hold them as evidence or say they're trash because X isn't a reliable character. That's fandom and it's a great thing!
However, what I'm interested in is the cold-hard facts about OP. That's what I collect and that's what I love to do. Watching fans debate is great but I also know for a fact Oda must chuckle when thinking about the stuff the fans debate which he never considered. With a smile in my heart I know I do too.

Well he certainly called himself a pirate and whether he is or isn't doesn't really matter since he is the head of a group of villains. I mean you suggested I do Marines but they aren't pirates. Plus I'm putting them off until last ^_~ The information on them is severely lacking and anything I create now would need a HUUUUUUUGE overhaul later.
As far as updating my site more, everything I create takes a huge amount of effort and when I have a steady job where I can work at my pace, maybe I can take those tasks on with a few movie/book reviews thrown in for good measure. But right now since OP is easy to access and while I still have my manga with me I'm gonna run with that. Since I'm not in school and just kind of slowly dying at Domino's you may find the next section sooner than you think….but not that soon ^_~

And yes, we do know her past but if you hadn't noticed, everyone's profile is majorly outdated. As soon as this arc comes to a close and we have all the info we need on new members, new ships, attacks, locations, motives, etc. I will officially update that entire section.

I have no intention of plastering the face of the new member on the page. It will be handled just like Robin's.
As for 'attack used against' names, for the crew members, there's so many names there already:
A. No one reads them anyway unless they're looking for something.
B. Since it's just a name and not a face with the name it's not something that's likely to stick in the minds of new readers, especially if they're glancing through.
Technically the names there are spoilers already because you can tell exactly who fights who ^o^ But no one has complained yet! If ABSOLUTE worst comes to worse and I get some legit complaints I could always just use black text for those names so it's no big deal either way ;)

Well, I was kinda into keeping it regularly updated when the crew was stable….but then the business about a new crew member started up and Merry got totalled and Robin left then Usopp got his alter ego and it all went to shit. But for others, I just don't know that he is. The situation that I described is exactly what happened to Don Krieg, so why not have the same apply to Arlong? The only difference is that Arlong's crew and ship wasn't crippled by Mihawk, a squall, and near starvation.
We've seen considerable evidence that Oda has an appreciation for setting things up well in advance. Part of it is a desire to bring things from the past back in as Easter Eggs, like Brag Men and Nami's navigation book, but other things hint at a grander design.

Me? I'm only interested in the dots. What's inbetween is in the world of fanfics, imagination and fandom. I guess you could say I like making the puzzles and enjoy watching people solve them. Kinda like Oda. I like playing the part of the author a lot more than the part of the fan. I mean what are those profiles? They're just collections of EXACTLY what is in the manga. Sometimes when there's an unfamiliar term I go in detail to explain what it is, like Krieg's armor for example. It's nothing that anybody here hasn't considered before, just not all in one neat little package. And like I've always said, I like sharing it with everyone because they enjoy it, but I'm doing it for myself more than anyone else ^_~
Putting the dots together, it's just not my thing anymore though. I did plenty of that with Dragonball and you can still read those kinds of things at the site I made when I was in high school. But it's only an individual's opinion and I'm not interested in putting my personal spin on it.

It's a secret organization of man/woman pairings where the man's code is a number which is lower according to their strength and the woman's is a holiday which gets more joyous according to their strength, with a few exceptions. In a nutshell. What were you talking about? I was talking about the labor that has to be done to write profiles for not only the characters we already know but researching the attack names, page numbers, making the images, etc. Arlong has 5 main people and it took me just over a week. BW has about 20 members that need that treatment not to mention additional members from Blue. T^T

Those guys were all characters introduced in One Piece Blue. Same with the names of Macro's gang members. Actually, if you check out all previous enemy pirates crews/groups you'll see the same thing on each of them. Here's hoping we get more characters we didn't even know anything about in the next data file (if there is one >_<)
