The Manji the Censors Missed

Waiting for new chapters takes a long time, so I tend to find details others would overlook.

Here's one:

In Volume 7, during Sanji's flashback, right after Zeff says "Take everything of value", there's a panel of his crew attacking the passengers of Oribit. One guy who's kicking another guy in the face has a manji band on his arm. At first glance, it looks like the Swastika band that the SS wore during WW II. It's even black with a white circle around the Manji.

This question is mainly for our German folks: Did the censors in Germany catch this? If not, that's a fantastic find.

Note: I never post pictures or links because you can't really notice this stuff in scanlations. Too low quality. You actually have to look in the tankos to see this kind of thing.

Actually, it looks more like that's his shirt sleeve than a band as his other arm has the same black area on it.

It's even easier to see if you have the full size page, which is one of the reasons why I don't want Viz to release One Piece via monthly volumes instead of in ASJ. Oda's art loses a bit in the translation when it's shrunk down to tanko size.

That chapter you had mentioned is also the March 2005 issue of Shonen Jump. Interesting find Ace, very interesing find.

Oh and off topic: But in the August 2005 issue, theres a little snippet where the One Piece chapters start that actually gives an overview of the Second One Piece album, along with the song list.

Yes, which is I almost always use volume instead of tanko when referring to the Viz version. This is one instance where I didn't.

the zwastika… because these fuckin' nazis used the reversed one, now most of people think that having it is nazi or racist, which is not at all. that bothers me, like hell.

Not only to they NOT mess with the manji, but they've also provided sidenotes to explain the difference between that and Nazi Germany's swastika.

Ace had one in the manga as the WhiteBeard tatoo. And yes I noticed that, and since I DO have german TV and german OP….You can see the picture. Anyway the german don't dub things like that they only give changes in (voice, sometimes character names)

They missed it on time in volume 25 in chapter 233 (i´m not sure) when Ace is on Buggy´s ship.

It's funny to see that they made mistakes like that here in germany... they are normally soooo fussy about such stuff...
