Not usually, but if it's from you, I may be more inclined to accept. ;3

Your art is /awesome/. I love the energy and bold colours.
-
I forgot about this place for a while. Anyway, just farting around in Painter.
-
You have amazing stuff here. You are very good. How did you get so good?
-
Thanks, my dear, but it's just years of practice. Having formal training helped, too.
-
Every artist tells me the same but what do you practice?
-
Well, I usually practice the things I want to do in a particular piece. For instance, I don't normally do interiors or detailed environments, so I'm practicing that right now. I also use straight-on camera angles a lot, so I've been trying to break out of that, as the latest piece demonstrates. Basically, whatever I'm having trouble with, I work to figure out ways to make them less troublesome, if that makes sense.
-
That makes a lot of sense. Thank you. Also, what do you normally use for reference pictures? A particular site or just google or…
-
I mainly use av.com, since it has a pretty decent image search. www.sxc.hu is excellent for hi-res images, and corbis.com does well, too, but since their images are mainly aimed for publication use and reuse, most of them are, well… boring. Hope that covers it. :3
-
Thank you very much! One of the reasons I can't draw is because I can't visualize exactly what I want and can never find accurate pictures depicting what I am looking for. This should help greatly.
-
I know what you mean. It's pretty rare that anything I visualize becomes exactly that on paper (computer, whatever), but I don't necessarily consider that to be a bad thing. Sometimes, it works out even better than I expected. I find it helpful to make smaller sketches of the thing in mind beforehand, in order to figure out what works and what doesn't before going to the finished piece, and then further warm-up sketches.
-
That makes a lot of sense and I'm surprised I didn't think of something similar sooner. Thanks again, you've been a big help.
-
-
Ah, DBZ. One of my first loves. I remember these characters but only just.

@R.F.:
Done with school forever.
I'm going to draw for myself for a bit now.

Hey, are you from Wilminton, DE, or did you just school there?
I grew up in Wilmington, DE.
Just noticed your address in the traveling sketchbook.
