I, and most of the other people I've talked to, think Od a was talking about Merry. That doesn't mean we're right thoug.
You never stopped to think that GM could be the dead Mugiwara Oda was talking about?
I always took it that he meant Going Merry with the "eleminating a mugiwara" thing.
Oda went through all this trouble to establish Going Merry as a living and sensetive beeing with the entire Klabautermann idea that it makes perfects sense.

There's some talk over the ending of OP; I can't think of anyone else other than Ivotas who has come to the same conclusion, but Oda might through a "fitting" ending to OP, namely the execution of Pirate King Luffy, which implies Luffy might "die", though it's only after he's already achieved the end.
Also, we need not forget that Toriyama kills off his heroes; afterall, OP is much like a reincarnation of Dragonball. Who knows? It is possible; it is doubtful, though, that any Strawhat will die before Raftel island.

But he bought them back to life countless times.
I really do not see Oda going that way. oda has shown much more creativity in his stories than any of his contemporaries at the moment, so i really cannot fathom the idea of Oda killing someone off, and having him ressurected later.
Gaara's death and resurrection is what made me lose a LOT of interest in Naruto.

I don't understand. Luffy's execution would be a great way for the Pirate Age to end; he's the last symbol of a free, romantic life ending before a time comes when such a life can no longer be lead. It's also a parallel to Roger's execution, which ushered in the Pirate Age.

actually i don't doubt it will end like that. who knows maybe they'll all die. either that or they will do something incredibly good to get the marines off their back or even kill off all the marines (doubt it).
but maybe they will all end up dying in the end in a big epic final showdown with the world government. sure they're strong but not invincible. and i honestly wouldn't mind seeing that as the ending seeing as how at the end of cowboy bebop spike dies and that was my favorite endings if not my favorite ever.
actually now that i think about it i want someone if not all of them to die at the end. i know that sounds kind of cruel since they're all so loveable but when they show ends its like they're dead anyway so why not kill them off instead of having a big happy fairytale ending?
Where's Robin in your link e1n? Oh and the character termination has passed by and that is the GM. No villian dies, Smoker said Daz was killed by Zoro but he's still alive so as Crocodile. Oda could had killed off Eneru but he did not. Olny ransom people die in the present.

I can almost 100% guarantee that will not happen. Just because the WG has done evil things in the past (and what government has not?) doesn't mean that it's going to be overthrown. It's a confederation of states, and together those states have maintained peace for eight hundred years; the modern world can't maintain peace for a year or two! We people study history, distorted as it is, and therefore know how bad governments are, as well as the optimism that gave birth to some governments (like the Soviets). The WG is just the same, only they've yet to realize that their constituent countries are not going to give a flying fudge about what happened eight hundred years ago.
Am I pissed about Austro-Hungary virtually starting WWI? No, it was before my time. Why should the modern countries of the OP world be any different?
hmmmmm now that you mention it no one has died. maybe all the villains will come back and unite to kill the straw hats….or it will remain one of my hopes.

Actually, maybe they would give a flying fudge. It seems that the WG is losing popularity with even their own officials. And we still don't know what the ideals of the old Kingdom were. They might have been something even better than the WG.
And It would surely be a real shocker that Oda will just kill off the main character since he haven't even killed even a villain.
It seems far-fetched that his crew and the countries he helped will just let him get executed though. Look what they are doing for Robin now. The same can't be said for Luffy?

Well actually, the WG is still, right now, doing evil stuff. They seem to be hemmoraging support from every side, too. Plus there's dragon out there, along with Alabasta and Drum ready to take the SH side in any struggle..
My theory is that dragon is going to start a war, but turn out to be even more evil than the WG. Luffy and a few others will get caught in the middle and have to beat down every side just to survive. The result is a revival of the old kingdom.

Well I recall reading it as it saying that Daz was 'defeated' by Zoro and the bounty hunters in Whiskey Peak 'killed.' So there was a difference in wording even in the same sentence and it didn't mention Daz in the same group as the ones that were said to be killed (over 3 instances mentioned the word kill in all the manga scanslations I've checked.)
But either way, I find it unlikely that anyone will die in the current battle.

People die all the time in One Piece. Just not named people.
There are, however, NAMED people that have died in One Piece:
1. The Fat dude in Skypiea. Robin fucking threw him off the island and then BROKE HIS SPINE.
2. Siam and Butchie. Siam got sliced twice by Zoro and died. Butchie got sliced THREE FUCKING TIMES.
3. Mr 7 was mentioned having been killed by Zoro when trying to kill him. Mr. 6 was blown up by Mr. 5 when defending Vivi, Mr.4 and Mrs. Fathersday FELL TO THEIR DEATH (Notice they're NOT in Goldenweek's Ministory). Miss Monday was BLOWN UP by Mr 5, too. Mr 11, too, was shot by the Billions after Smoker interrogated him.
4. Bellamy was supposedly killed by Doflamingo. Not confirmed yet, though.
5. Higuma the Bear was EATEN BY A SEAKING.
That's all the named people, but there were several other deaths that were not in flashbacks. And to me, Luffy's flashback isn't really a flashback, because it's the start of the Manga.
I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

I think you meant Mr. 9 instead of Mr. 6, Mr. 7 was the one with Mrs. Fathersday, Not Mr. 4.

Agreed. I've always thought of that as being a potential end for the series. However Luffy is my favourite One Piece character, perhaps my favourite anime and manga character so I personally don't want to see him die, even if it's at the end.
Part of me wouldn't mind seeing a character added to the crew for one arc, only to then be killed off in the next. It would be interesting (in my eyes) to see how the characters react to it, perhaps even having Luffy (for example) attack the killer out of revenge, and end up beating his opponent to death.

I completely agree - although this would definitely be the best ending (most fitting, anyway) that we mere mortals can think of, the rule basically goes: If we can imagine it, Oda thought of something about 50 times cooler that none f us ever dreamed of.

The scenes before the execution must be very emotional, I'm digging for all the SH to cry for Luffy, well I spose ppl like Vivi,Dalton will be present and cry too.

Speaking of Luffy dying at One Piece, I always envision that after conquerings the Grand Line, the newly crowned Pirate King will set his eyes on the other part of the world. They still haven't visited the other three seas yet. The adventure still continues…Maybe the epilogue will be when the straw hats returns for a spell to their home towns, Usopp went back to Kaya as he promised to tell her true tales of his adventure, Zoro presenting the Mihawk's broken sword to Kuina's grave, Sanji reportin to Zeff that All Blue exist and so forth. :biggrin:
What I'd like to see is that Luffy and Ace would return to Fuschia Village with One Piece, and Luffy's parents would finally make an appearance. It's a little cliche, but it would be awesome to have Luffy's father place his hand on his son, and tell him that he's proud.
