Haha @ Zoro's "Is this a zoo?!" comment.
Great comedy all around in this chapter. I hope all the upcoming fight chapters keep a nice balance of great action and funny situations in order to keep us all entertained.

Ussop: Cut the small talk, if you want a fight then fight! I'm here to save Robin!!!
Usopp>God.
Its his time for some serious pwnage by him against the second strongest of CP9. And to think there are people who claim that Zoro should take on both Kaku and Jyabura while Usopp doesn't fight…
I can't wait to see the amazing smack down he puts on Jyabura.
Dunno, if this has been posted yet, but really HQ scan right here:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/grace_huang@sbcglobal.net/album?.dir=/dcc1&.src=ph
Credit goes to jojohot. Btw, it's in Chinese.
WOW !! This one´s perfect for a scanlation ^^
Oh yay, HQ comes out right with a translation. ^_^ I'm glad I waited to read.
Tahaha, and much hilarity ensues. I'm so happy that we get to see an example of an inexperienced DF user. It makes you realize how much time and effort it must take for one to really hone their skills. Poor Kaku. I never would have expected a Giraffe. XD That's so awesome. And Jyabura looks awesome too, I love the Tex Avery crossed with asian look.
And YEAH Usopp, he's still afraid, but he's standing his ground with convinction.
I have no idea where this is going, though. Will Usopp and Zoro team up? Will the switch back and forth? Will more fights collide? Long before the fights started, I thought that the strawhats really making use of teamwork would be a great thing to unify them. They've mostly fought as lone wolves in the past, with the exception of Usopp and Chopper. I'd kind of like to see them ALL work together, but either way, it's going to be cool.
WOW !! This one´s perfect for a scanlation ^^
Well, Jojohot is a scanslation group themselves; taking the scans they worked hard to edit, cutting out the words and putting in your own is kind of…... bad.
The moment where we see kaku as a giraffe is a great moment, all I hope is that Toei doesn't screw it up by showing it in a preview or call the corresponding episode "kaku ate the giraffe fruit?!" as it would ruin the surprise for the people who only follow the anime..
@Cap'n:

I'm pretty sure that Jojohot's just some guys who just uploaded the online version of the Chinese Jump and splattered their logos onto it, so no major editing involved… right?
On topic: I really doubt that Jyabura will be defeated solely by Sogeking. The ceiling collapsed for a reason, right? And maybe that was to introduce and possibly merge the two battles together. There simply isn't a whole lotta space to fight, so the two fights are gonna be in close range with each other.
On topic: I really doubt that Jyabura will be defeated solely by Sogeking. The ceiling collapsed for a reason, right?
yes, there was a reason…Kaku is a fucking giraffe, I doubt any floor could take the weight of a giraffe..
and it is probable there will be a 2on2 battle of some sort going on, I doubt Zoro and kaku are just going to walk out the door and into another room..

Firstly, take a close look at the pages. They're pretty clearly computer editted. Secondly, take a look at the JUMP scans with the chapter. They're all in Japanese. Now, that would be a pretty weird thing to have in a Chinese JUMP… Which I doubt even exists, or at least not in the form you presume it does. I mean, JUMP hasn't even been released officially in Japan yet.

I doubt Oda will make Usopp relly on help in order to win. I think Zoro and Kaku fell there for a reason, but not to make the battles become a free-for-all skirmish. Do you see Zoro needing Sogeking's help in order to defeat a swordman? I do not see, and in the same way I don't see Sogeking needing Zoro's help.
Like I said earlier, I think Jabura will attack Zoro, while Sogeking tires to run or hide and Kaku tries to control his powers. Then, Kaku either join Jabura or tells him to go away so that he can fight Zoro. Either way, Sogeking will either appear to help Zoro (by attacking Jabura) or will be hunted down by Jabura.
You know what….Zoro and Usopp teaming up is a little...wierd.
I mean the two have got absolutely no chemistry together, I can see Usopp and Luffy, Usopp and Chopper (has happened before), Usopp and Franky even, but Usopp and Zoro seems a little out of place (scratches head).
Zoro is more the kind of a lone wolf, which is why either thefighters are going to be sperated again or more fighters join in, Nami and Kumadori perhaps.
Then again, OP can never be predicted very well, so we just wait and enjoy the ride
Well, they did take on Jango, and they are friends/crewmates, regardless of what they've done as a duo.
From the spoiler, with Kaku's "amazing," it really sounded like Zoro had the upper hand. But it seemed like Kaku was just having fun. OH WELL, he's a giraffe now. Though he'd be super dangerous if he wasn't so clueless.
Usopp was pretty shaken by Jabura's power, and rightly so. However, it makes me believe a little more that he'll win the fight.
Eh, personally I'd rather see Zoro and Sogeking do their thing solo, but a team fight will be interesting.
When I saw the spoiler, Jabura's wolf form looked familiar for some reason. Then I remembered…
I love the way his wolf form turned out. It looks so damn menacing .Though I'm disappointed he went straight to the man beast form and didn't show off his martial arts while he was still human. Oh well. The fact that he drank from a gourd increases his awesomeness 100-fold.
In other news… 2 WEEKS TILL NEXT CHAPTER AUUUGHH
2 weeks? You seriois?
Ah dammit, the chapter was good with the fighting but I want to see Nami and Franky…quick.
In other news… 2 WEEKS TILL NEXT CHAPTER AUUUGHH
Nooooooo! :bawling:
Unless i'm mistaken… I'm pretty sure someone said that there's no chapter next week. That's usually what happens when there's a spread, anyway.
Is the kanji on Jabura's chest also "ookami"?
Uh, the sky ? Don't start shit and you won't get any.
I love giraffes <3 I'm just not sure how the hell Kaku can perform any Rokushiki in this pure animal form. Horse-related animals just… don't have the bone sockets for it. Like omae I'd be glad to see Zoro drop the Pound Hou stuff; he needs to go that next step further... Shigan swords. Heh.
Hey, hey hostile aren't we. I try to be friendly with a nice what's up and you get smart and say the sky?
That is not nice at all and what is up with the cursing?
Anyway I hope Kaku can beat Zoro, I think it is interesting that Kaku knew that for Zoro did not use all of his strength, and reveals that he's CP9's top swordsman, taking two swords. Zoro at first thinks that he's a master of nitoryuu (2 swords) style, but after Kaku attacks with Rankyaku, he says he's a master of yontoryuu (4 swords) style (his legs are the other two swords. Remember, Rokushiki literally makes the human body a weapon. ) Kaku better kick his ass and represent for CP9.
I was kind of annoyed that all of a sudden he's revealed to be a super good swordsman. Felt like a cop-out to me. But, it turned out to be pretty cool. At least until the damn giraffe thing… I have no clue how the giraffe-man form will be any use besides possibly a) a bit of additional muscle strength b) really tough hide.
He was pretty good with blocking with the chisels was he not? So that had to be some indication he could use sharp weponary.
I can only imagine his Rankyaku once he gets the hang of things.
@Cap'n:
I have no clue how the giraffe-man form will be any use besides possibly a) a bit of additional muscle strength b) really tough hide.
Well, it should improve Rankakyu immensely as his legs are even stronger with a longer reach and Tekkai should get a slight boost, but there's an upper limit on just how strong he can be under these circumstances.
As Kaku so capably demonstrates, switching back from form to form is something that requires a certain degree of skill. As you get used to it, it's second nature, but with his current control issues, a herbivorous Zoan type is the worst possible Fruit that he could have eaten. A carnivore like Lucci or Jyabura can always resort to biting or clawing somebody if they wound up in the wrong form, but Kaku is under a big handicap as his animal form is all but useless in the confines of Enies Lobby as he's too heavy for the floors to support if they're damaged by Rankakyu and his neck makes it difficult for him to move around easily. Not to mention the fact that he lacks any really sharp claws or teeth for melee combat.
Yeah, he could also kick with his hooves, but doing so will likely cause him to bash his brains out against the wall or ceiling. Zoro's pretty quick as well, so if Kaku's kick misses, well, then he's screwed as he'll have to watch his head turning around to avoid the attack. This large of a form even diminishes his ability to use Soru to an extent.
It'd be hard to pick a worse Fruit for Kaku when it comes down to it. The only possible way Kaku can be much of a threat to Zoro is if he asks Jyabura for help and I doubt that he'll get it without being laughed at first.
A Rankyaku made by a Giraffe is stronger than a leopard 's right?
I was thinking that the length of the Giraffe's leg will make longer range Rankyaku, or maybe longer width
@ Cap'n Carter: The word on Jyabura's Chest is indeed Ookami = wolf
O.O;;;;; spaz omg….that zoro and kaku fight... just....wow. beautiful. i think i'm gonna cry now i'm so happy..... (note to self, must show Tessa!)
thanks BF for uploading!
Hello all! I couldn't keep myself from peeking at Jojohot's scanlations, which was also mentioned in the discussion thread! Here's a quick translation from Chinese to English, so take note that there might be some errors given the 2x translation.
(All credits to Jojohot for their work! To pre-empt the question, there is no Chinese Jump, and the guys at Jojohot scanlated everything from the Japanese Jump! Find their brilliant work here http://pickup.filesbak.com/jojohotdxb2005/2050/op/zaixian/op401rqf/thumb.html. Forgive any mistakes I might make!)
EDIT: I'm fine with anyone using this translation if they want to do a scanlation. =)
Pg 1
Luffy: Phew! I've finally come here. This staircase keeps going up and down
Luffy: Where is Robin? She should be in this room, but there's no one here at all! Robin! Where are you! It's me!
Luffy: Pigeon Guy… That's right, since I know where they are going, I might as well go straight to the Gate to stop them!
Pg 2
Zorro: You have the key to Robin's cuffs... if you don't want to suffer you better hand them over...
Kaku: That's silly talk... I regret not being able to see your true power when I was still working in the Company. I would never have thought that you pirates would have managed to chase us until here...
Zorro: I'm much stronger than I was that time... You better know that...
Kaku: I also feel the power emanating from your body... power like that of a evil beasts'...
Pg 3
Kaku: What an appropriate opponent. Coincidentally, I'm also CP9's first swordsman... don't underestimate me!
Zorro: Two Sword Technique?
Kaku: Rankyaku!
Pg 4
Kaku: Excuse me, it's Four Sword Technique!
Zorro: No problem... even if your whole body's full of weapons...
Pg 5
Zorro: 72...
Kaku: Rankyaku...
Pg 6
Zorro: ... Pound Cannon!
Kaku: ... White Snow!
Kaku: (the CP9 technique for moving fast! It slipped my mind )
Pg 7
Pg 8
Kaku: Hahaha... How fun...
Zorro: I've got no time to play with you here.
Kaku: So defeat me quickly! Rankyaku...
Pg 9
Kaku: ... Confusion!
Zorro: His sword techniques are powerful!
Zorro: Are you putting in your best?
Kaku: No, I'm fighting my utmost... but since you're so eager, I'll let you see my new Devil Fruit power!
Zorro: What!?!
Pg 10
Usopp: This room's decorated over the top! It's no different from a garden!
Usopp: Argh I don't care already! I just want Robin's key... and it's that key over there!
Pg 11
Usopp: Don't hesitate! Just get that key and run...
Usopp: If I get the key this way I won't have to fight! Haha! I am the King of Luck!
(The rest of this page got truncated, so the translations' patchy  )
Usopp: Argh? A chicken? Oh no oh no... It was quietly sitting over there, what's it doin over here now? If it makes a noise and wakes him up, I'm dead!
Usopp: Chicken! Don't you dare look at me! Don't tell me you're really going to crow!
Pg 12
Chicken: Choo...
Usopp: ARGH WHAT TYPE OF SOUND IS THIS FOR A COCKEREL TO MAKE!
Jyabura: Oh, the pirates are here...
Usopp: Damn chicken...
Jyabura: No choice then, have to play along... Hyar!
Pg 13
Usopp: He's too powerful...
Jyabura: Haha, so it's you... the one who destroyed the WG flag... you're pretty good as a sniper...
Usopp: His first punch after he awoke... is already so powerful...
Jyabura: Forgive me I must have hit you when I was stretching... Does it hurt?
Jyabura: But don't you worry...
Pg 14 & 15
Jyabura: Don't worry even though I look so evil and powerful... I'm a kind person, I won't torture you!
Usopp: Argh!!! Devil Fruit??
Jyabura: Wolf Wolf Fruit! Wolf Form!
Jyabura: Once I tear your throat out it will all be over... This way you wouldn't suffer at all! Am I not benevolent?
Usopp: Wolf... argh!!! Damn it!
Jyabura: What's up? You want to resist just before you die? You don't look like you have the capability to.
Usopp: Enough with the trash talk! If you want a fight let's fight! I came here to save Robin!
Jyabura: Eh?
Usopp: What's wrong with the ceiling... it's falling in!
Pg 16 & 17
Kaku: Ahhh damn it!
Usopp: A giraffe!?!
Kaku: I wanted to change into Man-Beast Form, but I changed all the way into Beast Form!
Usopp: The giraffe's talking as he's falling!
Jyabura: Hahaha Kaku your power's too cool already!
Zorro: A wolf! Is this a zoo?!?
@Cap'n:

Despite what Kaku did at the mansion, I was expecting at least one of the CP9 agents to be skilled with bladed weapons; afterall, Kaku originally didn't have a Devil Fruit, and like Califa with her Rose Whip, he needed some sort of gimic to pit him at least in the same ballfield as Devil Fruit users like Blueno and Lucci. It's the same with most of the non-DF villans; they have some sort of unconventional, weird ability that has been trained into actually being a credible threat (Wanze, Vivi, Igaram, Mr.9, Pearl, Cabaji, Jango). One could argue Hatchi's swordmanship, which was completely unforseeable until he whipped out his huge swords, is the same kind of thing.
I was aCTUALLY surprised that the first fight was Zoro vs. Kaku, but it looked pretty neat, the way the chapter ended with Zoro going 'FTW' was hilarious.
=
Nice translation, plus Zoro's last line was HILARIOUS!
Looks like those who eat DFs need time to master the abilities of it, still what good can come from a Giraffe-Human hybird?
Anyway nice translation ;).

I don't think Kaku's full animal form is the form we'll see him fighting Zoro in. Sure there are some control issues, but I think it's more mistaking the 'feel' of one form for another. It's like making stupid mistakes on tests with questions that you definitely know the answer to. It's that sort of thing. So once Kaku figures out his mistake (which I think he probably already has), there shouldn't be any problem for him going into beast-man form. And we really don't know what his beast-man form looks like yet, so we can't really say he'll be handicapped with the giraffe zoan ability. For all we know, his neck could be shorter in beast-man form. IMO however, the giraffe zoan ability will probably compliment Kaku's ability quite well. Since giraffe's have the strongest kicks within the animal kingdom, Kaku's rankyaku's should be improved many fold with this new ability. This should improve his four sword technique no doubt.
Whew, hope for a translation tonight materialized! Thanks man. Anyway, I think kaku is funnay and Zoro is as cool as ever!
WOW !! This one´s perfect for a scanlation ^^
I'm pretty sure that Jojohot's just some guys who just uploaded the online version of the Chinese Jump and splattered their logos onto it, so no major editing involved… right?
They buy Japanese jump, scan, translate, clean, and edit it themselves. Look at the credits.
If you don't understand, on upper left corner of title page, it says something like, this is for study and communication use. Delete it within 24 hours. If you like the manga, please buy it and support the official version. On middle bottom, it has the credits for all the staff participated in the project.
So yeah, don't use their scans for scanlations o.o
FOR ALL THE TRANSLATORS
Please specify in your post if you are okay or not that people use your translation for scanlation. Thanks :]
Is the chapter really coming out at two weeks?

Me! Ohhhh SogeKing <3 <3
This time he only took a few seconds to gain some resolve, and that is after getting punched! ROCK ON! :yatta:
Ch.402 WILL be out next week.
Only D.Gray, HxH (<– Both out for a while, mangaka are ill... again!) & Jaguar are on the WSJ #14 absent list.

No problem, glad to be able to help. I must say though, I was pretty surprised myself when I read that bit of his dialogue. I was stunned, in fact!
Usopp was shaping up to be a wimp, and just when I was prepared to hear him say something like "Don't kill me!" or "There's a monster behind you!"… he came right out and blasted Jyabura one!
Haha, way to go Usopp.

You have my gratitude for bringing me one of the greatest Usopp lines ever. 39!! (San-Kyuu) ^^
Ch.402 WILL be out next week.
YAY! I'm happy to hear that. :banzai:
BTW, something just occurred to me…whatever the case for the fight may be, I think it's good that there's another strawhat around Usopp fighting, because SOMEONE needs to witness his bravery in the battle. If he were all alone the whole time, nobody would ever know how he really fought.
Y'know, apart from someone witnessing Usopp's bravey in a fight. It'd be actually pretty sweet if he bailed Zoro or someone out of a pinch, rather than someone saving his arse.
Oda was operating ahead of schedule back around 399, with about four chapters ahead of the current Jump serial. If he's kept that pace, and after seeing that wipe-out picture of him, we should expect OP for at least two more weeks, with a possible deliberately widtheld chapter to give Oda more break time. My guess is that Oda is about six chapters ahead of where we are now, provided he maintained his original pace and the "four chapters ahead" statement is truthful.
Ah, yeah, he did mention being several chapters ahead in a SBS.
Oh, totally agree here with Usopp playing the role of savior for ONCE instead of being the saved one ^^
Will Zoro want SogeKing to help though? You know, swordsman honor and all.
Yeah, the thought did come to mind. :) Hey, he bailed Zoro out in Movie 6. That doesn't really count though.
But then he got slapped by Nami and she sulked :(
Which is one of the best parts of Movie 6; Now with Real Emotion! Seriously, repeated jokes about Luffy eating like crazy just doesn't work anymore.
Back to topic: Nah, seeing how Oda mixes things up like a blender, I doubt he'll follow the 1v1 template like in Arabasta. And Zoro would be an idiot if he lets pride stand in the way of saving a friend. Although sometimes a bit predictable, at least he gets his priorities right ^^
Man, I really can't wait to see more of this fight. OwO

Well, personally I never get tired of those, but that's because I'm kind of wierd.
Back to topic: Nah, seeing how Oda mixes things up like a blender, I doubt he'll follow the 1v1 template like in Arabasta.
I've been very happy with all the surprises so far in the arc. I think it would be great if he really pulls some stuff out of left field. It does sort of feel like he's predicting what fans are thinking and leading us down a certain path, only to pull the rug out from under us.
