No, this is issue 5, with Black and Red lettering, and it's BLEACH this time with Ichigo on the front. Oh and thanks for reminding me!

Damn. I was hoping that was going to be fixed. I don't mind Viz making a few minor changes here and there (such as small name changes like Zolo and Rougetown and lack of swear words), but Luffy's poster actually shows him with 30,000,000, it's stated that the people he beat all had above 10 million, not 100 million and it'll mess up the story further on when he gets 1,000,000,000 and his recent bounty. I suppose I'd let it go if they actually take the time to acknowledge it as a typo and correct it for the future, but part of me wonders if they'll ever do it.

I sent an e-mail to VIZ about it. Hopefully they'll change it for later printings.
The OU sound means it's a long O sound…It's not necessary in English pronunciation. In fact, it could make matters worse if someone were to think it ment it was pronouced like "house" or "round" or "wound".
Historically, some sounds now written as おう in Japanese were historically あう. Off the top of my head, I can think of:
Ou (King) (わう –> おう)
darou (だらう –> だろう)
You (way / as if) (やう --> よう)
gakkou (school) (がくかう --> がっこう)
But of course, these words haven't been pronounced by their old spellings for centuries. And like you said, "ou" indicates a long "o" in Japanese (unless the "u" is a verb ending). So yeah, either plain "o" or "o" with circumflex or macron is probably the best way to transcribe a long vowel for the non-Japanese-speaking masses.
The bottom line is that "Hoshin" is spelled the way that any typical English-speaker would pronounce it, if they pronounce it correctly.

I agree it's annoying but I think from 16 onwards it will switch back to one every three months. I suspect they dropped one OP chapter due to Gintama and to close the gap between chapters in ASJ and volumes. I think when volume 9 was released, the first three chapters from volume 10 was published in that month's issue of ASJ. At times I wish they'd up the number of chapters they publish per month for all the series so they'll catch up as quickly as possible.

I have a question about volume 14… This doesn't have to do with Viz, but... you know how in every volume there are 2 to 3 pages that ate "extra shaded" (is that the right word?) Well volume 14 doesn't have in on any of its pages. Why?

After Luffy says "I don't want to save you guys", the pages skip back to Luffy yelling at Dorry for trapping him under the Dinosaur skull, and they re-run the pages until almost all of Luffy's fight has passed. The regular pages start again when Usopp's getting crushed by Valentine. Guess I'll have to bring it back.

I also love how they constantly refer to him having the highest bounty in the world. Viz readers are going to be so confused come later on in the story.
These constant inconstancies and errors just go to show you that Viz doesn't really care much about One Piece and they don't proof read it before publishing. Really, how many freaking names is the Den Den Mushi going to have?

I think he means tone on the page. Oda said he rarely uses tone, because when he does, he feels compelled to use more and more of it, making the pages "messy" in his eyes. It's in an early SBS somewhere, like volume 1-7 somewhere. It's just a coincidence is all.

They are grey, but in some instances it's different. Bleach had a whole color chapter and they kept it in the japanese tankoban. That and vagabond also keeps there color pages (in us and japan)

Yeah, I never remember reading "highest bounty in the world" either.
Though I'm sure I also read it somewhere, I always thought it was mentioned in the character list at the start of each volume. However I have just checked volumes 12, 13 and 14 and can't see it in any of them. Perhaps it was a mistake they noticed and fixed for future printings.

well would drum isle be starting now in US so in a way, The manga has caught up with the anime? Or was there a filler chapters before drum?
(i'm only on vol.11 and SJ is never in stores or its always the last issue)
Unfortunately 4kids got all the way through Arabasta before stopping the dub so the manga is still way behind.
Not to mention that 4KIDS skipped ALL of Little Garden the bastards :getlost:
I think at this rate, the manga will stay a good year-ish behind the anime.
Alabasta should get started in Shonen Jump by the end of the summer, right around the time Funi's new dub begins at Jaya.

2.smoker is called "White Chase" smoker.. is that how he bacame chaser in the anime?
3. Sanji in the manga bought the true bluefin tuna…didn't he win the fish in a contest though?(ch.98)
4. Page 68 in ch.94 seems more shaded than the other pages
5.I thought zoro shattered tashigi's glasses and ended up having to go to the marine base
thats all I can find.If I see anything in the other volumes(1,6,8) I'll type it out
