Pah but knowing America's intention span with things like this, I can see readers loving Shippuden.
Well of course. Kids who have ADHD just plain love Naruto because they have about as much of an attention span as he does.
-
How long attention span does luffy have? or is it just that he doesnt understand things at all and noone ever tries twice?
-

Luffy has his moments where he actually does think though. It's just that he's got almost the same childish innocence Goku has.
Naruto though just doesn't think and usually just plain acts retarded most of the time.
-
What they should do is nearer the time of the funi version of the anime skip to when Robin joins the crew and then start releasing the other books much quicker
not only does this capitalise on the upcoming new dub but it keeps those who actually can't get shonen jump happy!
-
Why even have the magazine? Considering the majority of the space of it is for Naruto there's barely any room for other series. So why not just stop the magazine all together and just release everything graphic novel wise? It's easier that way and it won't take forever to catch up.
-
can people wait for the volume releases once they do catch up?
-
Three new chapters!
Issue fifty-five has some interesting content (first mention of the Zoan family of DFs, etc.) as well as Dalton transforming for the first time and the hilarious dialogue between Mr. Cook and the good Cap'n.

Speaking of which Shaman King fans will rejoice to this
A paragraph on page 382 of the July 2007 Volume 5 Issue 7 states:
"Next month will be the last time you'll read Shaman King in the pages of SJ. No, the Shaman Fight doesn't wrap up in the next chapter. Far from it! There's plenty more shaman action on the way, but not in the way you'd expect. Check out Page 246 for the lowdown.Page 246 states;
"Shamans of the world, rejoice! Your favorite manga will soon be in your hot little hands every other month as SJ manga volumes as part of SJ Evolution! That means more shaman fights, more shaman fun and less time spent hanging out by your mailbox. Yoh and his shaggy crew will appear for the last time in SJ next month, all in preparation to go bi-monthly as manga volumes starting in January 2008."So maybe Naruto booting Shaman King out of jump was a good thing. It's a shame they aren't doing this with One Piece too.
-
We're finally back to three One Piece chapters. Excellent. Also, I had a thought about Blackbeard. Maybe they put a hyphen between the two words because they're wasn't enough room to fit it all into the speech bubble on one line. I appreciate this is technically old news but it's a thought that crossed my mind.
"SJ Evolution"? What the hell. What's going to make this different from the SJ Graphic Novels and SJ Advanced? Anyway as a big fan of Shaman King, I'm split. On the one hand, FINALLY! The anime only adapted about 9 volumes worth of material then only briefly touched on some of the later elements like the Double Medium and Hao's reincarnation as Yoh's brother. However, as a fan of the series I can't help but feel that it's being booted due to low popularity. I realise nothing can compete against Naruto but I was hoping the series had some level of popularity.

Well in the end though that just means more room for One Piece. Until the people in charge of Naruto Jump decide to boot One Piece out as well.
Let's face it Naruto is the big fad right now and we're probably the only one's saving One Piece from being booted.
-
cant for the new issue is bobobo series in asj now
-
Perhaps this "SJ Evolution" is some kind of movement of multiple titles away from SJ and to quicker volume release format, and thy'll start serializing new titles. Wouldn't it be wonderful to get the same news regarding One Piece?
Maybe Shonen Jump is "evolving" past the current line of titles and making way for other ones.
-

True, unless they decided to up Naruto to say four or five chapters to take advantage of the "room".

Sad but true.
-
Mankin is being booted to make room for more Bo^7, I believe, seeing as how Chapter 110 was in this months issue and once Mankin is gone we'll probably get two-three chapters of Bo^7 per month.
Funny how Bo^7 has had such an odd release. Does anybody know if where the English Anime is right now is before or after this arc that Viz is publishing?
We are now five chapters into the Drum Island story arc.
-
^ The english Bo7 dub is at the point where the hair hunter troops from the past come back to life. (Atleast thats what I have been seeing)
-
I don't even see what's so great about Bo7 I mean it's original but it's no excel saga… I really don't find it all that funny.
-
Shonen Jump Evolution is just another name for Shonen Jump Four Horsemen obviously.
-
I dont' read it anywhere. I'll read Shonen jump from Japan because all the mangas are allowed equal space but not Shonen Jump Evolution. There is little point to it as far as I can tell, after reading one someone I know important from America a while back. I agree with someone though - the magazine slows down the releases. Viz does other mangas without the need for a magazine, the pace released is much faster.
A not a fan of viz overall because of a number of sloppiness in the translations (mostly found on the back of the book) and cheap produced mangas. So I'm biased towards them already. I own the Beyblade vols - you wouldn't believe the number of errors you see in it! Its worst then other mangas though, think mostly because no one is likely to read it anyway… Except me. XD
-
Are the manga covered here about the published Shonen Jump Graphic Novels? Like, the english manga?

Yeah but that's Beyblades though… Considering how crappy the anime is it's no wonder the manga is just as crappy.
I think Viz does good over all... They just need to stop sucking on Naruto's cock.

Yup.
Hey, this thread has 91 pages. Is this the longest thread recently?

I thought the spoiler threads got just as long.

Agreed. My only other major problem with them is the bizarre terminology used in YuYu Hakusho to hide the swearing. In my opinion, so long as the story is kept the same and the same comments are being said (doesn't matter if it's a pure translation or a re-phrased version) then it's a good translation. Sure, a bit more swearing and honourifcs (sp?) would be nice, but those things aren't as well accepted in the west so it's understandable why they're either left out or downplayed.

People wouldn't be able to understand honorific's anyways. Heck it's bad enough the Naruto dub plays up to the weeaboo's. Even Bleach doesn't do that.
As for the swearing that doesn't really matter because cussing doesn't make a story better. Besides most of said cussing is added in by fansub and scan groups.

Exactly. The only reason it worked in Rurouni Kenshin was due to the glossary in the back, and when I first started reading it I didn't even notice they were being used.

My thoughts exactly.

Lemme rephraise my question. Is this thread about the problems you all have with the enlgish manga? Cuz I love it. Also, does anyone here have question corners from volumes 15-46?
Hey Carusel, you got any more of those cool little animatic thingies? They're awesome.
-

Usopp pulling out a 5 ton hammer followed by katchup star technique would be awesome ^^ (im not expecting it ever beeing made im jsut mentioning it would be awsome ^^)

Generally I can only make gifs if I have the appropriate sprites, and even then I need to be able to flow them together. However if you wish to discuss my gifs more, please send me a PM. And for the record, I'm working on a JUS 7/8 Koma Luffy gif.

How so? Bleach's dub uses more Japanese terms than Naruto's does.

Really? Last I saw Bleach wasn't blasting the use of "sensei" left and right, translating attacks half way (leaving in the worrd Jutsu instead of just saying technique.), not to mention referring to bloodline limits all the time as kekkei genkai's instead of just saying bloodline limit.
I think I've seen far less Japanese terms in Bleach, but I may just have not noticed. Care to point out where Bleach does it more than Naruto?
Oh and do I even have to mention the subtitles for GO!?
Heck it works in School Rumble because Delta Ray included a whole freakin' section of the terms that are used in the series not to mention honorific's. The same can't be said for Naruto. In my view at least Viz is just playing up to the Japanese fans by including little tidbit's of Japanese. It's no different from the random cosplayer that runs around yelling kawaii all the time and calling everybody "san."
-
Kinda switching the topic, but it's still about viz.
I am very disapointed that bleach 19 doesn't have the full chapter in color for 162, like the japanese volume has. Very disapointing. I know they showed it in ASJ, but still.

You'd prefer them say Teacher Kakashi or Art of Shadow Clones? Saying sensei or jutsu a few times doesn't compare to all the random stuff on Bleach.

I personally don't see why they can't say "shadow clone technique." I mean would it really kill them? Also if anything they could just call him Professor Kakashi…
and what random stuff on Bleach? I'd at least like to know.
-
Well, there's Orihime's attack names… Using "Zanpakto" instead of just using "Soul Cutter/Slayer"... Using seritei instead of just saying "Court of Souls", though I guess that's because it's easier and shorter to say... And I'm also sure they'll keep "Bankai", as well.
-
Does Bankai translate into anything?

Houshin Engi used honorifics like "Sama" at least five times in the preview they showed. Then even put a blurb in the margin to describe what one particular honorific meant.
-
Just in case anyone hasn't mentioned it already:
They edited Jango's Wanted poster to say "Django". Way to cover your tracks, VIZ.

No spit? Well I can't say I blame them but still.

Hmm, glad to hear the Shaman King news.
Hopefully, One Piece will become a part of this SJ Evolution thing as well.

It makes me wonder if they'll edit the lovely "Prot Dance" error that should be coming up in that Mini-story.
-
Can someone fill me in on what LC_Lapen and FFA are talking about?
please?

We're talking about Jango's Cover Story during the Drum Arc. They changed his wanted poster to read "Django", which is how Viz translated his name for some reason. As for the "Prot Dance", there's a chapter of the mini-story in which Jango is seen leaving "Prot Dance", which is supposed to be "Port Dance".

Oda likely took the name from the film Django and misspelled it on the poster. Which isn't surprising as the "D" is silent after all. If so, Viz is just going by Oda actually intended rather than what he actually wrote.

Well it's not like Jango's the only one. Heck look at the Django from Bokken. Not to mention the same Django from Bokken makes a guest appearence in the Megaman Battle Network games and Capcom still spells it Django.

Viz also kept L's honorific usage in Death Note(mostly Yagami-kun).
I'm happy to see that, despite Naruto getting 5 chapters, One Piece still got 3 chapters in the issue. I was afraid everything would go to just 1 chapter.
-
Which chapters are they, and are there any noteworthy character introductions or wierd translations?
-
From Usopp and Vivi learning about Wapol being King of the Drum Kingdom to the Avalanche.

I'm pretty sure Chopper and Kureha are introduced in these chapters.
Wonder how they'll handle Chopper's backstory?
