Yeah, it's just reffering to Shonen Jump's releases. The next volume of One Piece is slated for April 3rd.
But since the One Piece volumes have a habit of coming out a month early, we very well may be seeing volume 14 next month.

Arrrgh. Crap. Sorry…I suppose I have a tendency to not read things all the way through...I'm going to go kick myself.
Eh…Rurouni Kenshin did. and FMA is kinda close to catching up to the Japanese serialization with 1 manga every 2 months. I'm aware FMA isn't serialized here though.
Kenshin came out monthly? Well god damn why cant they do that with manga I actually want to read…...>_< Even every two months would be fine....Sure if I really want to read it I can just go read it online but there are a couple of titles I like to buy in english, Black Cat, D-Gray Man and Buso Renkin. And if their VIZ translations suck..please dont tell me....
I remember reading an old interview with a Viz Higher-up (Lisa someone-or-other) where it was said that after Kenshin ends they don't think that they'll give any more series monthly releases, as it doesn't give each volume enough time to sell.
EDIT: And in an SBS, Oda said that he was really just looking for words that "sounded" Egyptian when giving Vivi and Cobra their family name, so yeah, it's not really an error on Viz's part.

Don't know about Black Cat, but Buso Renkin and D. Gray-Man are stellar titles that are excellently translated by VIZ.
D.Gray-Man starts off using different translations for some of the names, but from volume 3 onwards they seem to use the "correct" translations (by correct I mean the romanization names the manga-ka came up with).

They've been rereleasing volumes 1 and 2 with correct romanizations. I make fun of my friend about not having this kind all the time.
Um, anyways… what do you think's gonna happen with upcoming chapters of OP? tries to stay more on topic
I suspect Bon Kurei will remain Bon Clay (even though that wont be until after Drum, right?) And hopefully it's still Wapol and not Vaupoul. And dammit they need to call her Vivi, otherwise they'll get red in the face when they come to Nefertari Cobra (I think)
That Vivi case also. I'm tired of her not being called Vivi…and I hate that they didn't keep the giant's laughs. and for the future good name keeping and romanization. But how is Mr. 1's real name translated, anyway?
Viz did good for bringing the OP manga to US.. blood is still in the manga, A few words changes here and there. I just took a peek a Vol 13 and now 14 and 15 are in March and april. thing is I saw the manga was in little garden and there was no evidence of Laboon or Little garden in the US anime. That's why I am happy the manga is going the same way asa the Japanese verison by not skipping any arcs
Well frankly I fail to see what Viz would gain from cutting out key story arcs. They've normally aimed the manga at a more wider audience and in the past have advertised manga volumes with content not seen in the anime version, due to it not being animated (Shaman King and YuYu Hakusho) or 4Kids cutting it out (Yu-Gi-Oh).

14 and 15 in March and April? When did this happen?
It just says Volume 14 on sale in April in my volume 13.
The Viz website says Volume 14 in April, Volume 15 in August, and Volume 16 in November…...
That's what I thought…!
So it is august…why was I think it was April then?
i want OP redone in english.
Pains me to say it, but if i didnt watch OP in jap, i would say OP is the gayest CARTOON i have ever seen.
But luckily, i watch things in jap.
This thread is about the English adaption of the manga, not the anime. Besides, it's said that 4Kids has dropped the rights and someone else might be taking them over.
Wait… they don't call Vivi, Vivi in the Viz manga!? O.o I own that one an I never noticed... What DO they call her!? Just "Princess"? or "Nefeltari"?
Nefeltari.
sixteen
were almost to drum arc and sould see ace by years end
Hm, I wonder why Viz is straying from having the Straw Hats call Vivi by her actual name instead of just 'Princess' or 'Nefeltari'. 4Kids didn't even do that.
I know… That seems weird. They don't call her by Nefertari in the original, so I wonder what possessed them to do that.
As been said, not even 4Kids did that, and they're defenantly the group we'd expect to screw up over something like this...

Maybe to avoid confusion with Vivi from Final Fantasy 9 and Kingdom Hearts 2? At least thats one idea I had…
It's probably just because they're trying to show that she's being respected as a princess that they aren't personally familiar with yet, I don't believe they will keep calling her by her last name.
Hmmm, guess so. Still seems odd, though, seeing how in the original they called her Vivi anyways.
Who all has called her Nefeltari anyway? Nami, Sanji, and who else?
Anyway, I think Viz is just doing it for the reason that Cosmic has already stated; most of the crew isn't really familiar enough with her yet to be so informal. That'll probably change soon.
That's a good take on it Cosmic. They did fully say "Nefeltari Vivi" back at Whiskey Peak as well, so it might change.
Hoepfully it does, cause I can't pronounce Nefeltari for crap.
Also, Vivi sounds sexier. Don't hurt me!
Got my new jump in today and Luffy is on the cover . Still lookin though it so will type more later .
Good. Looks like One Piece is still doing well for them. I was afraid that it was due to them going down to 2 chapters, again. But now that it's been bumped up to 3 chapters again, it's all good.
So the Drum arc begins, huh? Oh yeah, and what Luffy picture did they use for the cover this time?
It is the pic of him about to tip his hat . Im me at yahoo msger: shonenjump74 and can send the scan of the cover. some reason it will let me post it here
Hey, does anyone know if the American Jump's Table of Contents works the same way as Japan's? I've been wondering for a while.

This is just a theory, but I believed OP was bumped down to 2 chaps for a few months so they could allow the other series to catch up, as it was storming ahead volume wise. But it's just a theory.
Nice to hear Luffy is on the cover and we have 3 chapters again.
There are only 2 chapters 128 and 129 . They skip the title page for 129 .

In volume 13 of the manga, the table of contents is set up a lot like the Japanese version with the black background and whatnot. Previous volumes it wasn't as Japanesey…if that makes any sense.

Aww, only two? That sucks.
EDIT: By the way, is this the pic?

The only one I can find with him tipping his hat…
^ I hope not. When will they give Luffy an actual coool pose? Although I guess it's up to opinion. Eh.
thats the pic of him
If One Piece is doing well for Viz now just imagine once we hit Alabasta.
Umm, there are some Shonen JUMP related things I want to post here, in the Official VIZ Manga Discussion. BUT, this is the One Piece section of the board. Should I make a new topic in General Manga, or is it OK to post what I have here in this thread (it's not OP related, but it's pretty important)

Like I always say, If it's important, make a thread for it.
No. We talk about other things in here about viz too. Just post them here.
Kay. It's kinda long, though:

Awesome, although I currently hate Taikoubou because he's a cheap muthafucker in Jump Ultimate Stars.
Can't wait for Gintama, though.
Truth be told the only series I want to see Viz release (with the exception of Gintama) are the original Kinnikuman and Fist of the North Star.
And personally I'm disappointed with the picture they chose (to me it would have been better suited as a cover for an early version of ASJ, when they were publishing the start of the series) and the fact it's back down to two chapters. Perhaps once Gintama and Yu-Gi-Oh GX are dropped, One Piece will get it's third chapter back.

I agree Kinnikuman is a great series i bought the japanese verisons and i can't wait to buy Gintama and Muhyo and Viz got Pretty Face
If you want to im me on yahoo msger: shonenjump74 i can scan anything from the book for you .

Fist of the North Star was released here for a while, by Raijin comics, but that anthology went under, so good luck finding it. Kinnikuman would probably appear too "dated" by most consumers, so I doubt it would be translated (which sucks, because the only people scanlating it are TW and they aren't very good). The biggest series that I want to get a full release here is Bo-bobo, but they've pretty much said they aren't doing any more.
I don't get the fuss people make over the whole "omg one less chapter this month" thing. They're still releasing the same amount of volumes each year, so it doesn't really matter in the end. The magazine is pretty crowded right now, so it makes sense that they're cutting down on some series' space. It seems that Naruto is guaranteed three chapters since it's the most popular, and then a certain series each month gets a third until Gintama's first volume is serialized. What's criminal is that Yu-Gi-Oh (not GX) is constantly down to one chapter a month, and they're almost done. You'd think they'd want to finish it quickly to clear up more space in the magazine…
I am aware Fist of the North star had a limited release, but I was hoping they might be willing to give it another chance. As for Kinnikuman, one can hope.
True, they're still going to release four volumes this year but what if next year they bump it back down to three? I mean it's bad enough they release so few a year and are going so slowly, but anything less would really slow the series down. I have mentioned before that I get the feeling this is only temporary as there is a three month gap between volumes 15 and 16, and only series which get three chapters a month get volumes every three months, but still. Truth be told, I wish they'd make more of an effort to catch up. I can understand slowing down when they're 100 - 200 behind Japan, but 30 volumes?
