I noticed. I really hope it's a typo or something, unless they want to explain what the crap a 'Willa' is.
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

"Carrying on his Willa"!? Please tell me it's not real
EDIT: WAIT! I think it meant to be "Carrying on his Will" so I hope it's typo and the 'a' go away. "Carrying on his Will" is far batter.
-
I got the new jump in today. Yugi on the cover . mr 3's candel set is now extra special candelabra ,
-
That sounds kinda odd, yet it does relay what the item is, I guess…
-

Is it really Yugi? Or that main character from YGO GX? The latter would make more sence given that this is the issue in which the GX manga joins.
-
I wish the dubbed JUMP would just realese the volumes T_T
-
Me too TT chopper. I wish we were like china and get the volume 1 month after japan released it.
There should be some type of machine that lets you put in the japanese volume of one piece into the machine and then it comes out translated in english. lol, if only our technology was that advanced.
Though the GX names were changed afterall. Damn it that sucks hard =(
-
I didn't even know there was a GX manga. Is by the same guy?
-
-
Carrying on His Willa…must be a typo. Either that or we have another Meanest Man in the East on our hands.
-
Speaking of typos:
KYAHAHAHAHAHA! Even the one worth 300 million Berries… turned out to be a loser! KYA HA HA HA!
Eerily prescient.
-
What? that's crazy! they messed up but it ended up true. but not for awhile. Why don't they release them faster? What's stopping them? Are they just being retarded?
-
Eerily prescient.
Whoops! Surprise spoilers!
…
Maybe Viz has infiltrated Arlong Park and this is their cue to us to watch our backs. Who knows, Malintex_Terek might have actually been killed and has since been replaced by a Viz representative. :ninja:
Buy Shōnen Jump today.

It is Yugi in the main spot with GX guy in one "bubble" and gintama in the other one . One Piece only has 2 chapters this time . They kinda felt "4kids stupid" level to me .
-
Do Gintama and YGO! GX truely only have 1 chapter each..? I havn't gotten this month's yet.
-

Yea, they only had one chapter for each .
-
What about Naruto?
-

I was kind of surprised by the fact that there were only two chapters of One Piece in there as it's been quite a while since they last did that. As a result, I decided to check ahead a few chapters and see if there were any of them that began with a color spread which might have had something to do with it.
No color spread in the next three chapters, but Chapter 125 has two sequences where a splash panel occupies the top three quarters of both pages. I wouldn't be surprised if having two chapters this month was a direct result of that; having two chapters come before 125 would make it easier to start on the correct page to have the splash panels line up within the story itself.
At a guess, it'll be something like:
Recap page - Chapter 123 cover
2 - 19
Chapter 124 cover - 2
19 - Filler Page
Chapter 125 cover - 2
3-19Having their normal three chapters this month would have put 125 second next month; it's easier to have a chapter with a spread come first or last.
-
I'd be more willing to say that One Piece has 2 chapters now because of the recent additions (GX and Gintama). They need space. Naruto keeps it's three chapters because it's the most popular of the series in Shonen Jump.

Dammmmmit. I read SJ pretty much just for one piece + shaman king, gintama is a plus, but it's now replacing 1 chapter of OP.
[/fanboy rant]

What?! One Piece is back down to 2 chapters a month? How bloody annoying! Ugh. I'm pissed about this. Anyway. Personally I don't see why they can't add an extra forty pages a month, allowing One Piece to keep the third chapter and give Gintama and YGOGX two chapters a month. Perhaps when Millennium World ends they'll fix this out, or maybe this is a temporary arrangement.
Frankly I wish they just made Gintama a book in the advanced line. It's what I asked for when I voted. I don't really care if knocking off one of OP's chapters is perhaps a sign of its popularity (I fail to see why that's important), but rather it’s due to the 300+ chapter lead Japan has over the West. I'd like to catch up with them ASAP, not when I'm in my thirties. Still we are guaranteed four more graphic novels next year, even if they are slightly more spaced out. So long as we keep getting four, it is a better situation.

For awhile I didn't understand a line in VIZ vol. 11. When Alvida says "So much for the man I was going to…" and She never finished it. So is that a translation error, or what?

What with something like 45% of marriages ending in divorce, "marry" is no longer a politically correct term.
-
lol and she cant exactly marry a man with no head
-
Could've just run out of space to fill the balloon.
What I find strange is that I didn't even notice that until SilverWind mentioned it….:pouty:
-
so, ever since, I believe, Vol. 8, They've released them a month earlier than scheduled. Except for 12. So, 12 came out on time in Oct., Then what do you think the chances of 13 being released in Dec. is?
-
Yes, Kazuki made it
Takahashi only supervises. Naoyūki Kageyama writes, and draws. As of November 2006, their are twelve JPN chapters. Most recently, Jūdai Yūki has finally been given a backstory. This Manga takes place is an alternate universe from the Animé. The Kageyama's comic–although monthly--has achieved critical acclaim from fans for being a fun read.
Sadly, the editor of the English version has chosen to use the 4Kids names for all main characters. Non-Animé characters keep their JPN names.
Funny, Shaman King, a series I no longer really care about, finally got three chapters again this month.
Seriesouly, I was dissapointed by the length of this issue. Come on, it won't kill 'em for their regular series' to have four chapters.
-
I just don't get why they go so slowly. I mean, it isn't a speed issue, if they can churn out Kenshin Volumes at once a month. They should have 3-4 chapters for the long series like Naruto, One Piece, etc.

I agree. I mean what are they worried about? Catching up with Japan? That would be near impossible at the moment. Shaman King has almost 300 chapters, Naruto has over 300 chapters and One Piece has over 400 chapters. Viz need to close the gap as quickly as possible. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. As much as I enjoy manga and collecting the Viz volumes, I don't want to be 300+ chapters behind One Piece when I turn 30!
-
new issue
2 one piece chs. pretty good stuff

It's all about demand. Kenshin was a fairly low-profile show until Media Blasters got it and showcased it on CNN; suddenly, there was a surprise explosion of interest in it, resulting in MB getting shut out of almost all Kenshin related merchandise. The OVA were nabbed by the bigger ADV, and the manga absorbed by Viz with a promise to publish monthly volumes.
There are four explanations for the delay in my mind:
1. Viz doesn't want to fall too far behind 4Kids and is staggering its sell-rate while 4Kids is in reruns.
2. They don't want to catch up with Japan (note that the possibility of this as rationale is nil).
3. They want to either increase/test demand for OP's manga.
4. To make room for newer serials. -

But Viz is behind those reruns.
And given that One Piece is completely off the air in America as of December 23rd, I don't think that will be a big effect on future decisions.
-
Heehee. I found another error in vol. 12, Chapter 101. When Zoro says, "when this one goes under, row like mad!", Luffy and Sanji replies "Yes Ma'am!" Haaa. That crazy Viz. So is anyone gonna answer the post I posted up about 6 posts?
-
Yet another Viz error in this issue, or are they just too excited about the recent Japanese chapters?
Miss Valentine: "Even the one worth 300 million berries turned out to be a loser!"

Is this really true or is Cartoon Network just removing it from the scheduele temporarily?
And judging from this issue, we can expect One Piece to once again get the shit treatment in the magazine. 2 chapters, no One Piece article, no advertisements, nothing at all.
-
volume 13 comes out January. What a drag….

I don't know. I was thinking about it a few days ago and there's a chance One Piece might start getting three chapters a month again at some point in the future. There is a three month gap between volumes 12 and 13 and between 13 and 14, obviously where the graphic novels catch up with the published chapters. Then there is a four month gap between volumes 14 and 15. Normally series that get two chapters a month get volumes every four months. However there is once again a three month gap between 15 and 16. This has lead me to believe that perhaps Viz may start publishing three chapters again at some point next year.
Course, this is just a theory based off the proposed dates for the future volumes. If I drank you could pass it off as drunken rambling. However there is still a slight chance it will come true. Thin, but a slight chance anyway.
-
I dunno. One Piece should just be taken out of the magazine and put into monthly graphic novel realeases. The series is way too long to keep serializing it with 2 or 3 chapters a month. We'd be at Water 7 and Enies Lobby in the next 20 years.

Agreed, but only as long as they don't give us the Viz-Box-o'-Doom treatment.
I was thinking, could it be because an upcoming Volume will have 10 chapters and not the usual nine that we are getting two for Issue 49??

I agree, and personally I feel they should do that with most or all of their series. I want to read Naruto and Shaman King while I'm young.

Perhaps but I fail to see how that would make any difference. I think Viz did this:
"OK, if we stop doing previews we can get one more chapter in without adding any more pages, but we need to drop a chapter from One Piece or Naruto. Which is it going to be?"
"Well Naruto is our most popular series, and I don't want to be attacked by nine year old ninja-wannabe fan boys."
"One Piece it is then." -
Found this over at AnimeOnDVD's forums:

Take that as you will.

Wow. Guess One Piece's popularity is increasing.
And in my opinion, Naruto 10 and 11 were probably the bets Naruto volumes in a while, perhaps since number 4.
-
Wow. Guess One Piece's popularity is increasing.
Sigh. Still optimistic, are we?
That volume came out in October, so obviously it's going to sell well either then or the month after. What differentiates Naruto and Bleach from OP is that their volumes continue to sell well in months in which there are no new releases, and with each new release even older volumes sell more.
Looking at the other novels that are on that list, none of which jump out at me as big-name stuff (Dark Horse Berserk/Hellsing, TOKYOPOP Fruits Basket, Del Rey Negima!/School Rumble/Tsubasa/xxxHOLiC) it seems apparent that we have an off month.
Diamond tells me OP wasn't even shipped to specialty stores in October, but it was in September (1,160). In contrast, that "Baghdad" title by DC was shipped to 10,160 stores, almost ten times that of OP.
Additionally, we're near the Christmas season, so people are scrambling to buy stuff before material gets rare in December; ergo, what would normally be evenly distributed buying trends over a several month period becomes large in one month because of circumstance.
And, finally, there's no listed deviation.
And in my opinion, Naruto 10 and 11 were probably the bets Naruto volumes in a while, perhaps since number 4.
It's not really a question of "best", since OP is better than Naruto yet consistently sells more poorly.
-
Seeing as Infinite Crisis is on that list, I'm guessing those are the top comics in Graphic Novel form, or trade paperback, or w/e u wanna call it.
Naruto, Bleach, and Kingdom Hearts ALWAYS do well and are always at the top so to see One Piece come right after those 3 makes me happy, even under w/e circumstances there are it's nice to see One Piece so close to the top of a list.
-
Something with naruto viz:
Any one pick up volume 12? You knowed how they changed the manji symbol to the x in asj? Well they changed it back to it for the graphic novel =D
-
One piece is my favorite manga in Shonen Jump and I would like it to catch up to the japanese one, however I feel that at the begining one piece was kinda slow but they just got to where it really started getting good, little garden. I think that if all 15 or so of us who read this thread should flood Shonen Jump with E-Mails about this and force them to put more chapters in. I say 5 or 6 a month till we catch up to begining of water seven, then we go down to 4 or 3 depending on how many chapters they make that month in japan.
-
Or we could, you know, leave everything as it was intended to be.
I'm still really curious about how they'll translate Mr. 2, by the way. "Okama way!" just has a ring to it that I don't know that you could match with the English equivalent.
-

Yeah, I noticed that the other day. Pretty freaking badass if you ask me.

jan issue luffy new bounty of 300 mil instead of 30 mil lol

As am I. However they may use Okama instead of other words, as few people know what it really means. In other words, soccor moms could see him say:
"I am an Okama" and not know he's gay.
