/me finds this rather intriguing.
Spandam's Zouken
-
-
There isn't much wrong with that..
it isn't Funk Fried, look at it in chapter 400…
-
Yes, but, what of his real sword if he already has funk fried?
-
Spandam may just spar using a regular sword while Funkfried keeps him company in his elephant form. They seem pretty close actually, so Funkfried may never be in his sword form unless absolutely necessary.
-
I think the purpose of that sword being there is to throw you off the thought of FF being his sword.

@Bad-Beat:

Actually, I think that's the same sword he was carrying back when we see him talk to Franky at the Tom's Workers warehouse. At that point in the story, there's no need for such a red herring as there really weren't any hints that Funkfried was the sword outside of the comment he made when Fukurou said he was weak.
-
If what Ubiq says is right, then I think there might be alot more to Spandam than we give him credit for. If he actually practices his swordsman skills, he might actually be a threat. Anyway, that blade handle looks quite intricate. I was thinking it might be a meitou or something.
-
Eh, his power ranking wouldn't be so low if he idd practice. He could just carry it around for looks.
-
I think Spandam is more of a goof than a real fighter, but that maybe the sword itself is rather strong.. ie it can do some fighting of its own (direct Spandam's hands as he uses it and such).. this could be what Spandam was saying about his sword. Maybe he is weak, but his sword is strong
-
If he did practice his muscle's would certainly be abit…stronger? I have to think just that the sword being part elephant has some superhuman strength of its own and that the sword pictured there is just for looks.
-
Is it so wrong to think of him as a swords collector? People who collect weapons are no rarity and it even isn´t rare that some such people are nothing more then just collectors. In other words they own them but they are not good by using them.
Spandam in fact does seem like somebody who´s not very good with it. He weilds the sword around in his office as a clear battle unexperienced wannabe would do. A real swordsman only weilds his sword in a fight and not when he´s talking to people.

But he's just weilding a random sword, not Funkfried, the sword he has an attatchment too. A swordsman keeps his weapons sheathed out of respect for them, but if the sword he respects is Funkfrid it is shiethed, right over there, in that big freaking elephant.
I think he's a lot better a fighter than he lets on, really.
-
No- what if there's smething special about Funkfreed in Sword form? Like Funkfreed having blades instead of tusks or something?
-
i might be the only one who think as such but i think his swordsmanship is fairly good and that he has some skills in handeling a sword(technique and such) but he lacks the strength & stamina to be a great swordsman but when hes using his DF elephant sword it provides him with a certain degree of strenght and protection thus making him a much better fighter.
what do you think ? is it plausible or am i just coming up with crackpot theories XD
-
i think the weeapon is only meant to compensate for his own pathetic nature. he's been portrayed as a cowardly weakling, a schemer, who found it easier to have a powerful weapon, than become powerful himself. It's a lazy weakling's way.
-
Who says that isn't Funkfried? You know how Zoan-types are… you can choose to be full-animal or half-animal, or no effect at all. You have to figure that the sword didn't have any tusks or elephant-like features before transformation, it was just a normal sword... half-elephant form would make it a sword with elephant tusks, and then it can become the elephant.
Pre-post edit: Ha, whoops, there's the elephant in the same picture. Oh well, I figured I'd still post this, because it is still feasible. The sword could have another form that looks more like a "normal" sword.

well douriki(sp?) is a measure of physical strength alone, but u dont need brute force to be a good swordmen, you need skill, so we dont know.
