Hey guys,
Its been quite a while since I posted from my old screen name of Baroque Works Member but I'm back. I've been reading the comments and here are my thoughts:
Kaku vs Zoro: Sounds pretty interesting. I would have liked Sogeking vs Usopp but this works too. I can see this one being really surprising but I'm not sure how Zoro will win this with being as badly injured as he was last time.
Califa vs Sanji: An interesting choice. Here is a thought about her DF power.. what about plant control. Her whip always looked like thorns to me. Perhaps its something like that?
Fukuro vs Franky: Not quite sure what to think. Should be cool. This is the first time Zipper Mouth actually looked threatning.
Jyabura vs Sogeking: I can actually see this being Sogeking's defining moment. I would have gotten bored seeing Sanji vs him. This is the first opponent truely tough oppoenent Usopp has had since Mr 4/Miss Merry Xmas. Plus we get to see what his DF is.
Kumadori vs Nami: Interestingly enough I'm highly interested in this fight over alot of the others. Not so much because I want to see Nami's new Perfect Clima Tact but because I want to see how Kumadori fights. Ever since he got revealed I've thought he would be a fascinating fight. I mean look at him he is huge! Plus I have a feeling he has DF.
Lucci vs Luffy: Lucci needs to get taken down so bad. Words can't describe my interest in this fight.
And now for my crazy prediction…..
Chopper vs.....Blueno: As far as I've noticed no one has sugged Blueno returning after getting owned hard by Gear 2. I have a feeling that he will return. Brain Point vs the Door Door fruit will be a great battle. The reason I suggest this is because I can't see Chopper holding his own at all vs Lucci and Franky deserves the Spandam beat down. I've called it now

First and foremost, HAPPY 400 everyone. Here to the next 100 chapters.
So once again its a race against time for the Straw Hats. One to find the key to the shackle (though proabaly just a diversion to buy Spandam and Lucci time) and two to reach Robin at the Gate of Justice. Oda, are you the man of supense or what? Also the elepahant is a DF and Spandam's sword?…..MAN, I love this comic!
Now my take on the match ups.
Franky vs. Fukuro: I thought at first Ussop was gonna get one since both seem to be stratagists but Franky works too. And seeing how durable and how how fast Fukuro is (not to mention Franky's unpredictable arsenal). This could be interesting.
Ussop (SogeKing) vs. Jyabura: Oh did not see this coming, I thought for sure this would be Chopper's match up due to the whole predator vs prey deal. But the third strongest CP9? Whoa! I can already see this is gonna be brutal, but entertaining nontheless.
Nami vs. Kumadori: Am actully looking forward to this mainly because this is Nami first straight up fight since Alabasta (Skypeia doesn't count. Gun Fall was helping her.) not to mention both wield staffs. Plus am interested in seeing what Kumadori can do and how his samurai code fit into this.
Sanji vs. Cailfia: I actully called this one due to two reasons, her kicks at the beginning of the Water 7 arc and her beauty which I knew Sanji was going to goo goo for. I don't see what everyone deal with this match up is cause like I said before this'll be a TRUE test for our favorite Straw Hat cook.
Zoro vs. Kaku: Well it was either going to be him or SogeKing. I wouldn't have cared either way. Let see what DF sword clashing will result of this.
Chopper vs...?: Hmm wonder where he going to come into play in these fights? He might vs Blueno like CP9 Agent mentioned or Spandam, heck even Lucci for a spell. Theres even the unlikely chance he might even come across Nero
(hey its Oda, you never know). But whatever his purpose, lets hope its surprising.Luffy vs. Lucci: The main event which will no doubt be the finish line to this saga. Luffy might reach the baddie sooner then we think. Fight and get his butt kicked then after a few chapter come back for the grand finale. Of course thats my take on it but this is Oda's comic. I'll let him tell the way he wants.

Sanji's never shown any inkling of ever fighting a woman no matter what her intentions toward him were.
Sanji DID pull a gun on Robin/Miss Allsunday at the end of Whiskey Peak. There's precedent for Sanji being willing to harm a woman.

i will only say, sanji is better than that :o(
i don't understand why you all like that stupid side of his character, in my opinion it detracts from a wonderous and otherwise flawless character, it's my only gripe about Oda, the "soft/laughable/lovey dovey" side of his character isn't needed, he needs to grow out of it. i mean serioulsy basically this is Arabasta all over again, why isn't Sanji evolving?
Imperfection is what makes a character lovable, someone that is perfect or 'flawless' as you put it would get real boring real fast.
Like i said before, its these quirks that make the OP characters stray from the main cast of many other series.
Its a stupid side no doubt, but seeing someone as badass as him, go dork mode over a beautifull woman is pure comedy.Also OMG - Jyabura has a bottle of sake (presumably) with him. GODDAMN! i want a Sanji - Jyabura fight even more now

Well, Funkfried is Spandam's sword. That's pretty awesome. The sword looks cool too.
Sanji's face seeing Califa was definatly the shot of the week. I wonder how that boy is ever gonna get through this one.
One interesting thing I noticed. I think everyone is in agreement that Jabura is Oda's homage to Tao Pai Pai. Now, if I remember correctly, the first time Goku foguht him was in an indoor atrium type enviroment. The room Usopp finds Jabura in kind of reminds me of that. Just seems like more Oda homage to me.

Now, if I remember correctly, the first time Goku foguht him was in an indoor atrium type enviroment. The room Usopp finds Jabura in kind of reminds me of that. Just seems like more Oda homae to me.
You're probably thinking of the Ninja guy. Goku first fought Taopaipai at the bottom of Korin's Tower.

Probably Roger WAS like Luffy.. I read in another forum or another thread… people mention about his death... Why is he the only one there (Where is his nakama)... and why is he smiling.. could it be that he is happy because he had saved his nakama and is the only one that had to die.
This is a possibility.. and this is why he may have the same personality as luffy..

I don't think this neccesarily means they will have he same pesonalities, I still like to think that Roger is more of a badass than our happy-go-lucky Luffy, but I definatly think they will share this one quality.

Very good point! I was actually pondering that idea a few weeks ago and had an idea that maybe the ship that Buggy and Shanks worked on as kids was Roger's (if the time adds up). Either that or Whitebeard, but it could be a hard call (imo). His other nakama is a tough one to figure out, though, if that was the case.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Oda-sensei made Spandam look relly cool when he held his sword. That was the first thing I noticed in that panel, I was like WTF?! O_o
I applaude Oda-sensei on being to make any of his characters look so freakin' awesome!!!!
Also for the fact that Usopp is going to fight Jyabura, it's just too amazing for words.
During the Sanji/Kalifa fight, I can totally see her whupping him all over the place with her rose whip. She insults Robin, he goes in to kick her only to stop when she flinches or something, than BAM!!! Rose Whip!!! I wouldn't mind a flashback from Sef telling Sanji that he has to overcome his weakness or else he'll just be a weak little eggplant forever… I miss Sef!!!
I just really hope Oda-sensei doesn't switch the fights or something, I like these match-ups alot better. Mainly the top fighter ones, Zoro/Kaku, Sanji/Kalifa, Usopp/Jyubura, and of course Luffy/Lucchi. I think this was Oda-sensei's way of telling us that Usopp and Luffy are definately going to make up, because notice how they got matched up with the two that seem to have a rivalry and are more compatable with each other. Luffy/Usopp, Lucchi/Jyubura, I thought that was rather cool.

Happy 400th chapter to Oda.
My thoughts:
Elephant Sword: That's wonderful and confusing at the same time.
Franky fit in well when they were all standing together.
Match ups:
Sanji VS Califa: As said, it's going to be interesting to see Sanji fight a woman.
Franky VS Fukuro: Cyborg VS Zipper face. Perfect.
Sogeking VS Jyabura: Great fight for Usopp. Jyabura LOOKS mean, and he has a DF, so he'll give Usopp a run for his money.
Zoro VS Kaku: Not much to say right now, but it works.
Nami VS Kumadori: Staff VS Staff. Also, time to see what the new clima tact can do.

What do you want? For him to break character completely and kick her ass without hesitation? Where's the suspense in that? I'm waiting to see how that one will turn out because I have no idea how Oda's going to do it; Sanji's never shown any inkling of ever fighting a woman no matter what her intentions toward him were. I'm excited for all these fights, actually, I really wasn't expecting these matchups at all. Yet another reason I love Oda; he consistantly surprises me.
He was willing to put a bullet through Miss All-Sunday's skull. I think that's enough to show that he's willing to strike a woman if he has to. Allowing a woman with intent to kill to have her way isn't being a gentleman, it's idiocy.
I was pretty annoyed when he kept flaking out on Bon Kurei just because he looked like Nami. I mean, that always makes me mad when any media pulls out that device; if someone shapeshifts in front of you into someone you know, they're obviously not the person who's important to you. It provided some comedy and lengthened the fight a bit but made me annoyed with Sanji's character.
Of course I'm expecting him to goof around with her a bit. He's Sanji. I'm just saying it'd get old and risk being a repeat of the Mr. 2 fight.
On that note, I really hope this isn't like Alabasta where there's a bunch of fight switchin, because he's used that device before and it'd make the pacing screwy. Plus, to me it doesn't seem like it'd make a bunch of sense, since it seems that they've completely split up. And I like these matchups; besides Zoro vs. Kaku we didn't see any of it coming.

Looks like Luffy will be busy giving chase for a few chapters again. He seems to do a lot of that in the series, at least the other fights will keep us busy enough not to get annoyed with that.Fans make the fandom. What is your fandom made of?
