where will luffy and the crew go next?
what islands await our hero's?
will luffy get an musician?
Where do we go from EL?
-
-
Good qustion, we don't know. We do know they will return to Water 7 and gather their stuff and get a new ship. After that they may go to a new island before going in the other mega-arc.
-
Franky = Ship wright = musician
-
Man, there have probably been a dozen topics like this one…
-
new posters. lots of such topics expected. the price of expansion.
-
But the course is pretty much set to Elbaf, Meremen Island, Pirate Summit (if this is meant to be a location) and Raftel…(maybe even Holy Land)
-
Sorry.
-
Oda said the Mermen island would be in about halfway trough Grand line right? Its a possibility they arrive there, But i would be so cool if they Met up some sichibukai in a fight on the ocean! Two ships attacking eachother
That would be something new but even something the real pirates did a lot.
-
Sorry.
It's OK, I didn't mean to sound harsh, but use the search option next time, 'kay?

PLEASE don't say that…. I mean if they are half way through the grandline... there's only half of the series left.
-
I vote they go to San Faldo or Pucci next.
-
Wherever they go, I hope two things:
- To see more of the world events unfolding (Shanks meeting Whitebeard, more Gorousei, more Buggy, more Shitibkuai)
- That the next arc will be a lighter and shorter one.
-
They need a short arc next, definitely. Also, I have a feeling they'll run into Smoker again after Enies Lobby–after commiting this level of crime. Maybe the crew will end up in prison at some point, like a non-filler G8.
-
Dont they also have to cross the red line?
-
Well this is my theory on what is going to happen next, I posted this over at NF without much response but let's see how it does here shall we?
"The world will be astounded by something that nobody has done in the past hundreds of years….When this battle is over...that Straw hat brat's name...will be known throughout the world"
Kokoro Ch 388If this current arc says anything, it's what I just quoted; Luffy isn't going to be smalltime anymore after this. He has invaded the impenetrable fortress of Enies Lobby, killed and wounded thousands of soldiers and is in the process of eliminating the Marine’s top assassination squad. Luffy is going to have a bounty of at least 500 million beli after this arc, more than most of the Shichibukai’s former bounties. I’ve heard the reasoning “But there’s no way that Oda would put Luffy’s bounty over a Shichibukai until he defeats him.” I disagree with this as if any of the six remaining Shichibukai were crazy enough to pull an attack on the gateway of the world government, they wouldn’t be in the position they would be right now, or at least I sincerely doubt they would.
Oda I believe is signaling a changing point in the series, a point where Luffy has to grow up so to speak, become a real pirate with the kind of numbers needed to take on any threat the world government can throw at him. A large ship with the capabilities to contain a nice little army of his own to fight back with, maybe even more than one ship to sail with. The current force he’s assaulting Enies Lobby with is a good start to being able to defend himself against the massive bounty that’s about to be leveled onto his head.
As far as the new crew members go, I see both Franky and Paulie joining with the Straw Hat’s. Paulie’s case I believe is the easiest. In every theory I’ve seen, one this has always been forgotten, Baskerville. Someone has to take him out, and it simply wouldn’t make much sense for simply a few no name Franky family members to do the job, why bother with a name and as much dialog as Baskerville has had if that’s the case. The Straw Hat’s are busy with CP 9 and Franky will be chasing downSpandam for most of the fighting.
That leaves the only other name character that’s gotten much face time, Paulie. I definitely saw a Paulie-Baskerville match upcoming, and now that I’ve finally seen chapter 399 cleaned up, I found out it’s already happening. Either way…there isn’t any way I see Paulie avoiding a bounty after that battle, the judge of Enies Lobby might just be one to report exactly who attacked and defeated him to the Marines. CP9 isn’t stupid, they will figure out exactly who attacked them after the fight, heck they already know the Franky Family is there and that’s not even considering that Lucci might have smelled everyone else out on the island. This all point’s to Paulie not being able to return to Water 7 after the arc.
The other character, Franky is a bit more difficult. It’s very true, that with the plans to Pluton gone, other than building Luffy a new ship his primary purpose is gone. The other hurdle is that unlike every other member of Luffy’s crew barring Zoro, Franky has no one above him in rank, the Franky Family is Franky. Normally I would think that this would make him joining unlikely, but if the entire Franky Family were to join the Straw Hats, then Franky makes all the sense in the world, serving as both Shipwright as well as the general of the troops behind the Captain.
This though I believe is not only the turning point for the way Luffy takes on the role of a true pirate captain, I believe the story much like Naruto is about to start taking on a darker turn, namely the Marine’s disregard of human life concerning even the smallest threat to their power in the world. Ohara was blown off the face of the earth by the Buster Call and I believe served as heavy foreshadowing for the future. Think about it, every character that Oda has introduced in this entire arc is fighting against the Marines at Enies Lobby albeit one Iceberg and I don’t think this is a coincidence. If indeed the theory that Luffy is about to gather himself a pirate army as other pirates have, if indeed the world government is after Luffy as much as I suspect and CP9 knows who there attackers are, if indeed Robin’s back story was the foreshadowing I think it might have been…this tells me one thing:
Water 7 is about to be Buster Called off the face of the earth.
What better way does the government have of telling all the other countries to not support this pirate age, what better way to unify the army fighting at Enies Lobby under the Straw Hats, what better way to give Franky a new purpose in life after it seems like his character is about to run out of steam; what better way to grow Luffy up. The government can easily spin it, the only shipbuilders on earth who have the ability to build the weapon Pluton and were planning on doing so until they stepped in and destroyed Water 7 and their shipwright guild. It’s certainly not any less of the reason it had to destroy Ohara and would definitely give all the pirates of the Straw Hats a new purpose in their quest to become Pirate King. This also would pave the way for Smoker and Tashigi to abandon the Marines as if they ever found out what really happened at Enies Lobby and Water 7, they would side with the Straw Hats without a 2nd thought.
Whew…that was a lot of writing but worth it, give me some input on all this if you don’t mind as all of this would definitely bring One Piece into an even more legendary status than it already is.
-
That's a pretty deep idea, but it's just as likely that the crew will just go on ahead after Water 7 like they always have, completely unconcerned with the dangers that lie ahead.
-
I don't think the crew realises what threats are against them.
Remember how they celebrated Luffy's 30M bounty, despite being weaker then and having the Grand Line and all sorts of bounty hunters up against them now?
As long as they keep winning, it's just a silly game for them. Notice how the only things which tend to make the Strawhats rear back are actual assaults on their kin and friends. Bounties, threats, and such are nothing but empty posturing for them.
-
Hey Kryolis… what you wrote mostly are what i have been thinking ever since the invasion of ennies lobby... except for the paulie part...
If Luffy and the crew were to invade the Ennies Lobby and defeat all the CP9 and Spanda..M.... His bounty is seriously gonna double or triple... thats his ALONE... the total bounty of his crew might reach a billion... well... thats damn a hell lot of money... not only are the WG and marines are WANTING him... the pirate and bounty hunters are gonna come down searching for them... maybe even other pirates.... so they might need lots of crews... so i might see the franky family joining them as well... it might not be true... but these are possibilities...
-
i hope after this arc luffy can still go into islands and have fun. i don't want the people of the islands running off fearing for their lifes because luffy is coming to the island. even though luffy is a good person most of the people in the world don't know that and with luffy possibly having a 200-300 mil bounty on his head i doubt they will want to find out. i know after this arc luffy will be having lots of bounty hunters, marines and other pirates coming after them but i still want to see luffy having adventures not just fighting opponent after opponent.
-
another possiblity, Luffy and the crew's wanted posters will be the first ones ever to NOT feature Dead or Alive but instead be just Dead (to get rid of 'em) or Alive (for public trial/execution).
-
To be fair, I agreed with everything in Kryolis' post except the part about Franky and the Franky Family. I think the arc still has a long way to go since they need a new ship and everyone in W7 will help in some way to get the strawhats out of there, now when its done and they test it around the seas for stability Paulie and Franky are on the ship but than the Buster Call would have the perfect time to strike Water 7, killing everyone on W7 including the rest of the Franky Family and the remaining of Galley-La…also Iceburg may be on the ship also.
It would give Franky more of a reason if they come back and see W7 up in smoke and they manage to destroy a ship thats left behind and Iceburg goes into the island to see if anyone's still alive and than Akanzu (spelling?) comes and kills him with the "thorough job," line. Not only would they need to get thier asses' out of there it still dosen't go overboard as I think with everyone in the Franky Family being with the straw hats would be overkill.
-
I really see this battle ending simple enough. Luffy defeats Lucci who then tells Luffy to kill him and of course Luffy refuses. Water 7 has one big problem on there hands, four members of CP9 worked there for 5 years and would easily know Iceberg's men if they saw them. If the four were to all be killed in their respective battles, problem over but that would be a drastic change for Luffy.
I see Luffy letting Lucci go after the battle and that decision destroying Water 7.
Kinda like a reverse Nico Robin situation.
-

Huh? So they wouldn´t change after all would they?
-
I think he meant that the poster would be either Dead or Alive and not both. Still i don't know why they would do this. The reason of Dead or Alive is because they pay different ammounts (if you bring the criminal alive you get payed more) but with only one… well, doesn't make much sense to me
-
I don't think the government will put the buster call on Water 7. They could do it to Ohara because they had the excuse 'they're plotting to destroy the world'; just supporting pirates isn't a good enough reason for them to do so.
Besides not all of Water 7 was involved in attacking Enies Lobby, it is also a member of the world government (wasn't that why they had to do the secret agent thing to take down Iceburg). Didn't Kokoro say she was a 'hostage' anyway, its not really supporting but making sure you don't die thing. -

Kryolis.. you brought up another interesting point…
See... CP9 and all are ppl working for the WG, so if Luffy and the gang refused to kill them, they are not gonna be imprisoned, unlike BW...
So they had to kill them or else the CP9 are gonna hunt them down... But its Luffy, its interesting how he will handle this situation. -
This post is deleted!
-
Well, first they have to figure how to get out from Enies Lobby… then they can figure out the direction and if I would be them I would just go into a random direction neglecting what Log Post and Sea Rails says. I would see Galley-las and Franky Family going back with by using Sodom and Gomorrah and Franky building a temporary Straw Hat ship from remains of Rocket Man - Franky could probably continue to gradually extend it toward closer to his Dream Ship.
-

Of course not but that didn't stop the government from making sure to destroy each and every person on Ohara.
If the WG were to do this, Pluton would be the way to spin it. No one other than CP9, the Straw Hats and Franky know that the plans have been desroyed, even Iceberg doesn't know yet. The best shipwrights in the world, possessing the plans to the most powerful ship in the history of the world, it would not be difficult at all to convince the public that they were indeed building said boat and that Water 7 attacked Enies Lobby in order to stop the government from discovering their evil intent.
The thing about Water 7 getting the Buster Call…I see this as an even bigger possibility than when I first wrote this theory. I forgot what Franky said:
"Though rather than saying the sea level's rising...it's more accurate to say the island is sinking. In ten years, the town will become even more difficult to live in" Franky Ch.350
An already doomed city sinking into the ocean, sounds even more plausable that the WG would end it's existence ten years early
-

Originally, the government had evacuation ships for the people of Ohara. One of the Vice Admirals decided it would be better to destroy it

Ah good point, but it was only CP9 that knew Water 7 had the plans and even knew they existed. Also Spandine said they needed evidence before they could use the Buster Call on Ohara. The situation shouldn't be any different here and as Franky destroyed the plans they wouldn't have any evidence anyway.
The governmetn wanted the plans to make it anyway, so attacking Water 7 because they were making a ship the government was going to make anyway is hypocritical.

I always thought the waterfall at Enies Lobby had something to do with water 7 sinking. Luffy tends to leave a lot of destruction wherever he goes, he might accidently cause the hole under Enies Lobby to be filled, decreasing the water level at Water 7. I guess that Franky quote kinda makes me think Water 7 will be saved rather than destroyed.

I love that idea, it's crazy enough that Oda might actually think about it.
Now on topic: I'd say after EL it's time for one of those shorter arcs. Perhaps they take refuge on an island while Franky builds them their new ship. I believe It's going to be the last or second to last island before they hit the red line. After EL the Strawhats are going to become one of the big ones so I'd say it's about time. I'm hoping we'll see more about chopper and or nami, since we saw the least of them in W7 and in Skypiea
-
I want to see the Shanks/Whitebeard meeting.
-
What awaits us at the end of this arc, I have no clue. Aside from Luffy beating Lucci, I really have no idea, but I know it's going to be something big, something really big. Oda's already surprised us so much since this super-huge mega-arc began 81 chapters ago, so the ending is sure to be nothing like we've seen before in One Piece.
And after this arc, I'm willing to bet that the story will start to change and take a more darker tone while still retaining the happy-go-lucky Oda crazyness. But one thing's for sure, the Straw Hats will never be able to set foot on a World Government affiliated island or country ever again without having Marine soldiers up their asses the second they dock on shore.
We'll most likely get a little mini-arc after CP9 involving the Straw Hats reaching the Red Line, more on the Shanks/Whitebeard situation, and maybe the return of Smoker and/or Blackbeard all in a fun little laid-back arc.
Afterwards, we'll probably see the start of a huge arc involving Doflamingo and/or Kuma.
-
Well, we'll probably get a few chapters to celebrate Lucci & co.'s demise, the reunation with Robin and the new ship. The new ship might even be shaped as a separate mini ark after the big one. I think the focus will then shift from the Strawhats to the Gorousei, meeting to decide their next steps and then to the meeting between Shanks and Whitebeard. Following we'll have the Strawhats crossing the calm belt (which may be another mini ark, or not) and then another big one on the other side, probably Smoker or some Shichbukai, or both if I have to bet
I also like the idea of the Strawhats continuing immediately through the calm belt after beating Lucci, without rest. They'd use whatever the Marines are using and then find a ship afterwards. If we presume that the red line is close after there is no need for them to go back and get a ship since it would be useless, they'd probably get one after it.
-

You mean the Red Line. The Straw Hats would be exiting the Grand Line if they went through the Calm Belt.
-
No, I think he meant the small calm belt after EL.
-
This one beleives that the next arc will be the Pirate Summit. A meeting of all the pirates. We need for Shanks to see Luffy, and Yasopp to see Usopp. Some nice tearful reunions. Something I'd like to see is Smoker bursting in in the middle of the meeting. "I've finally found you Straw-" Smoker is pwned by the armies of Pirates. >:D
-
I'd really hope that smoker realized what a stupid mistake he has done to have joined the marines. He isn't even fighting for justice he is looking for.
Then he will join the SH crew for his own good and he can also fight for justice at the same time with them. It's cool to see a Logia user in the crew -
If I remember right, The Island of Meat is close to W7 I'm sure Luffy will want to go there. If they are chased by the government It might be wise for them to stock their new ship with Meat so Luffy and crew can fend off ships. On a side note hopefully where ever the StrawHats go they run into Smoker he's long over due for a comeback
-
it will most definitely be cool to see a logia user in the crew. but i doubt it'd be smoker. his view of justice may be a different one marine-wise, but it's different with the SH as well.
i hope we'll see smoker again, though. he's been out of the limelight for way too long, i'm not surprised if he misses it. XD
-
i hope the strawhats meet with smoker just so zorro can interact with tashigi and get all nervous like he does when he's around her.
-
Smoker is still following the Strawhats, so that is likely.
-
I really hope there will be 3 short arcs after this…kinda like prior to the Arabasta arc with mini Drum, Whiskey Peak, etc...
also I hope Oda brings back someone in the past that no one expects to return to the main plot <_<
-
Yeah a non rusty Kuro would be fun.
But if anyone shows it'll be Krieg, he's gotta rebuild his fleet somehow
-
Yeah a non rusty Kuro would be fun.
But if anyone shows it'll be Krieg, he's gotta rebuild his fleet somehow
Krieg would be bad and Kuro even worse. They were good when they first appeared but now OP would be better off without them. Even if both were to team up with Arlong any SH could kick their buts without breaking a sweat.
-
I think it was pretty strongly implied that we'd see Krieg and Gin again.
Gin defeated Sanji, they need a rematch.
-
If any of those really old OP villains came back, it'd be just to showcase the growth in fighting ability the mugiwara have undergone. Watch Sanji take on Krieg's entire fleet as Usopp single-handedly takes down Kuro while Nami makes sushi out of Arlong….
It'd be kind of pointless, though. Oda really likes to keep the power levels of the straw hats kind of vague.
-
I think that Gin and Krieg will have grown in strength by the end of the series, and that if he reintroduces them it won't just be to show how much stronger the strawhats are compared to when they started.
More than likely it'd be to show that others can achieve their dream too, not just Luffy and his crew, it could also be to show how past villains have evolved and grown in personality and character.
-
it will most definitely be cool to see a logia user in the crew. but i doubt it'd be smoker. his view of justice may be a different one marine-wise, but it's different with the SH as well.
I agree here. Plus if a Logia user were to join the crew it would have to be like the Stone Logia, or something; a relatively low-power logia
