I always thought it was the start of something when Usopp said that because I can't and won't imagine him going through out the series saying how useless he is.

Robin mentions that fish-giants are smaller than pure giants, meaning that she's seen one before. In her flashback, she met Saul, who is a giant. She may have seen another giant during her time with Baroque Works, but that's unlikely.

Saul was a giant. She's saying Big Pan (been a while since DBF) isn't as big as a real giant. This had some foreshadowing to the recent flashback in which little Robin became friends with a giant.

She just said that it was smaller than a pure giant which would mean she's seen a pure giant before.

That's pointless, Oda was just developing the characters so that in the future it wouldn't seem like... an idea from nowhere =P But that was a good hint

Heres another thought maybe she knew about the giants height because shes a archeoligist (sp). And in the line of work it's probably needed to know about all kind of wordly people that live on the grand line.

But that's not the only thing in past chapters, that refers to the Robin Flashback.

In Chapter 180:
Miss All-Sunday: Why… Do you fight...?
ALL OF YOU... Who carry the name of "D"...

Luffy: D...? Kof!

Miss All-Sunday: {Just what in the world... ARE YOU...?!!}
That seems to be a pointless question.

In Chapter 218:
Robin: THERE ARE TOO MANY ENEMIES... IN MY DREAM.

Robin: I have no place to go or to return to.

That was all a long time ago and it fits perfectly to the flashback.
