I didn't think that the melody and the bass sounded too bad, but I didn't know that they're stolen from something else anyway. So yeah, making that kind of genre out of stolen goods is pretty crappy.

First off, it's spelt "designed".
Secondly, bringing in One Piece being dubbed is a low way of trying to win an argument here. We all know that kids in Japan are different in the US, not to mention One Piece is enjoyed by all. It's not the same as songs like Feel Good, Inc. being sung by a bunch of kids for a compliation album target solely for kids and nothing more.
I should throw in a mention that despite the albums being marketed as "sanitized" for children, some of them still have explicit lyrics, or having the context of the song's profanity remain. Just throwing that out there.
Thirdly, the main point I was trying to get across is: Why should you care? You have the original song, yes? Then who gives a shit if Kidz Bop puts it on their album? I don't. Just like I don't give a shit about Wutai Warriors in another topic or about Krypto the Superdog when a grown up fool bitches about it sucking. It's not intended for me, I am missing out on nothing, and if it's a dub/remake/etc. of something I like in it's original form, I still have that original source, be it anime/manga episodes, an album, or a book. Ergo, I don't give a shit.

I assume that means that you think Kidz Bop stole Feel Good, Inc. from the Gorillaz. Use your brain before you type, these are not pasty faced nerds who downloaded the song illegally on the internet. These are businessmen, trying to make a profit without losing alot of money getting their asses sued. They asked for the rights before they put the song in their album.

Oh, and my mom – who's been in elementary music education for over thirty years, and directing childrens' choruses for more than half of her career -- says that the singing is average and appropriate. None of those kids outright suck, and none of them are going to ruin their voices doing this.

First off, my intention wasn't to win an argument, and I wasn't "RAGE OMG I WANNA DIE" when I posted that. I guess what I was trying to say was that I think its kinda stupid when something most likely intended for a more older audience gets watered down to become "kid-friendly". One Piece may be a giant leap from a song, but its the same concept.
And although I'm sure that theres a very low chance of the sort of thing happening, but this sort of thing could confuse raging soccer moms who might happen to come across an actual song that might be covered on the album.
"My goodness! What is this! This song supposed to be for kids!! angry letters, Jack Thompson, etc. etc."
