I heard there was a new Yugioh series that aired in Island, it is about Yugi, Honda, Anzu and Jonouchi who have to battle using monsters (more like Pokemon than cards) and is apparently using the same rules as Monster Chess or whatever it is called from the first series.
Yugioh

-
You might be confusing this with the final arc in the first Yu-Gi-Oh series, the one made by Toei. It's the arc in which they battle Bakura in the monster chess game.
-
^
Wasn't that in the starting seris? I have something like that in my japanese manga where they get turned into the models?
-
I have little info on the subjuct and there are lots of rumors. But I'm copy-pasting this from the playthedamncard community over at livejournal:
This is a 12 episode long season called Capsule Monsters, obviously. As of now, only Jou, Honda, Yuugi/Yami, Anzu, and Sugoroku are in it, and it's a bit similar to Digimon and Pokemon. Everyone gets monsters they can use one at a time from their little capsule launchers on their arms.
This appears to be straight-to-dub; released in Ireland first, because they're done with the usual Duel Monsters series of 224 eps. There has been a reply from 4Kids which says Capsule Monsters will come to America around fall, and will be released on DVD earlier.
This season seems to be made simply as promotion for the new Capsule Monsters game. Right now, no one knows when in the series this takes place, though it's guessed to be right after KCGP and before Memory World. There have also been mentions of a pyramid leading them into this world they fell into; so it's rumored this may tie to the movie. (Didn't some of the stuff about the movie say it'd be tied into canon somehow? And yet never was?) No idea on the pyramid until we can get the first two eps.
So far, there have been four episodes as far as anyone knows. One from Monday, one Tuesday, one Wednesday, and one today (Thursday.) It's likely there'll be another tomorrow, and maybe Saturday also. There are two episodes (what're being called 3 and 4; the eps from Wednesday and Thursday) that have been recorded and I've seen.

yugioh was made by toei (the first one?!) god. I hated little yugis voice with a passion
-
When I heard the american dub here in Spain, my ears almost started to bleed ><
BTW(question for those who have seen all the first series): the last opening, Overlap, was really cool, but the images made me think that some monsters are in fact real people from the ancient Egypt. Am I wrong?
-
Yes, some of them were.
Such as Black Magician, is Priest Mahado, after he merged his soul with the Black Magician.
Many monsters are just , creatures which lurk within the souls of people.
And yes, Overlap is the best opening ever, and one of my all time fav songs.
I saw an episode of this Capsule duel monsters, it was pretty decent.
-
Here's an episode I found on You Tube. God, what an amazing way to kill Yugioh even more.
-
Nah, I think this beat it the most into the ground.

Hahahahahaha, good times, good times on SKU. Dan Green is such a loo-czar.
-
I'll stick to GX; less Dan Green "Yami Yugi," "New York Punk Joey," and so on. I'm only in it for the duels, anyway.
This Capsule Monsters thing does sound like a hideous merger between Yu-Gi-Oh and PokÃmon, of which I don't care for, so I probably won't watch it, as the formula "Yu-Gi-Oh Dub + PokÃmon" doesn't add up to good stuff, in my book.
-
oh man oh man i had no idea this even existed holy…
-
After watching an episode the other day I'm convinced the "g" in "GX" stands for "gay."
-

Was that real? If it is, I can't believe 4Kids used one of their shows for a public service announcment.

I remember that a long time ago on KidsWB, they had used Pokemon characters in a PSA which was promoting kids to read.
But yes, that anti-drug message IS real, that IS Dan Green, and that flash DOES look like that the makers were on drugs themselves.

You're spot on crazy.
GX is so bad it, I'm surprised that 4Kids didn't write it themselves.

It's the GT of Yu-Gi-Oh, the series is unbelievably corny. The two only good things that came out of that series were the opening themes, and I ain't talking about the dub one.
-
I dunno, I find GX to be slightly more watchable because it doesn't try to take itself nearly as seriously as the original.
Of course, it doesn't matter when both series are awful.
-
Well, everyone has their own opinions. I never did care much for the original dub, and the GX dub is – in my opinion -- better, at least, in terms of voices (give or take a few). Neither did I care for the "deadly card game OMG" idea; I just want the action out of the series, and I expect nothing more than a passing enjoyment. I guess it just doesn't click with me. Ehh.

That's why I just prefer the manga, mainly the first series a lot more than Duelist, and I'm being honest.

This, I can't argue with. Seeing Yugi kick ass in a setting NOT related to cards that threaten the world (somehow) is a step up from mindless dueling and "Chumley Huffington."

Well, except for that chick's VA. She's horrible at acting to me. She should be on their One Piece…or Bratz or Winx Club or something.
-
If you're talking about "Alexis," I'm almost positive that her cardboard voice is used for Kuina/Tashigi in their OP dub.
-

Tashigi! You're right! I remember now.
"cardboard" is about the perfect word I can use to describe that voice, bland deep, penetrates your brain in a bad way.
Hmm, I really liked the original cast to be honest. I thought they were the best VAs 4Kids had, especially Ted Lewis, he's one of my favorites.
It's weird if you watch a show like Turtles you can see that a lot of 4Kids VAs CAN act, but if you watch One Piece, you see that a lot can't.
Such a wonderful contradiction. :D

I'm kind of curious about the Japanese version. Can anyone tell me where I can get fansubs? I'm sure I won't think it sucks anymore if I see it without the editing.
-
Dunno where I can find fansubs, but if it helps, this is a good site for edited/orginal episode comparisons.

Well, you can find a lot of Japanese episodes (with no subtitles) at www.getitfido.com. Make SURE you have a good popup blocker though and you have browse to find them.
They're not the best quality but if you want to see the Japanese version it's good.
-
Unfortunately the only fansub is False-Memories & Yugioh! and they only subbed 3 episodes. So you're stuck with the raws. getitfido is really slow at downloading. Its better to go to youtube and watch it there.
And whoever did Alexis' voice is just horrible. Its just tasteless and boring. Even Amy Birnbaum who did Téa was much better.
-
Subs for GX episodes 1-24 + 29&30 are here: http://janime.info/Genex/cd.html (great Yugioh site)
I have raw episodes 1-50, 60-66, 70-73 and 75-77 if anyone wants me to throw a episode on megaupload or something.
Also Amnael's voice I thought was very well handled but I cannot wait till tomorrow's episode.
! I really hope they don't edit his death. Amnael/Daitokuji Teacher is my 2nd favorite character and his death was so touching.
-

I've never had a problem with Anzu's dub voice, I like it to be honest.
-
Whoops my bad, I said it the wrong way. I liked Amy Birnbaum voice and she is way better than the voice actor who's doing Asuka's dub voice and I wished she played her instead.
-

This is why I stress the need for a dedicated fansub group to handle series 2
it's kind of ironic though that series 1/0 got subbed but series 2 didn't. -

Neat thanks for the link.
I've been watching YuGiOh! Season 5 & it's kickass! I loved the 13 episode torrney & how each duel only took one episode & that they were pretty neat.
The saga where the Pharoah seeks his memories is kickass, specially Pakora or should I say Yami Pakora? Pakora was my fav. character from the start of the series, and it's neat to see him wreck havoc everywhere, heehee.
Just curious- what episodes does Tia duel in and what episodes has her showing her effections to the Pharoah? Also when does the YuGiOh! anime end?
As for GX, well let me tell ya that I enjoy it even MORE than the original, good duels & I like how they follow the game's rules. -
Millennium Puzzle
Millennium Ring
Millennium Eye
Millennium Rod
Millennium Key
Millennium Scale
Millennium NecklaceThe abilites of each is as follows:
Puzzle: Return lost souls
Ring: Track other items, remove souls
Eye: Read minds, remove souls
Key: Enter the mind of anyone
Scale: Judge anyone by asking true or false questions, if they lie, they die. Can fuse monsters together (in Ancient Egypt)
Necklace: See into past or future, unknown how much though.
Rod: Control others, hidden dagger in handle.
My favorite is the ring, not just because Bakura is my favorite character, but it also has the best abilities. For one, people I don't like, suck out their souls and be done with them. And if I ever get greedy for MORE items, I could just use the ring to hunt down the others. And it's got the best design I think for carrying, just put it around your neck and it's a flat comfortable piece of metal, rather than a large pointy still pyramid shaped puzzle.
So what do you guys like, or dislike?

hate to be a party pooper but there is already a Yu-Gi-Oh thread..
-
Sorry, but unless you got permission from a Moderator you can't put up a poll. The structure of the thread isn't really anything more than an attempt to circumvent that, so until someone overrules me, this is closed. Sorry, Corny.
-
I'm letting him have this thread so he will know how much Yu-Gi-Oh fan are here and how much discussion it would promote.
Unless there's a lively discussion on this certain topic, I (or other mods) will be merging it with the main Yu-Gi-Oh thread.
