I'm finally getting my own computer in my own room and I've never been happier.
First, I can now get Firefox and no more shitty Internet Explorer. I couldn't get it on the family computer because of some family business thing.
I can download BitTorrent files in peace without anyone breathing down my neck about it.
And many more reasons I can't think of since I'm so happy. Maybe I'll be able to play PC games now.

I got my first laptop as a graduation present.
I got my cousin's old ass computer as my first one, but I don't really count it because all I could do there was edit my crappy essay and saved it on 5" disk, which often failed.
My second one was low spec as well but lasted until I graudate college so I was a happy student.
My present computer is spiritually the descendant of a 286-10 I bought at a yard sale in 1997. I've done some upgrades. AFAICT, no parts are original left, I have the motherboard on my shelf still though, with 1M of memory. Still booted last I looked.
For several years I had a picture card of Coldstone (Gargoyles) taped to the monitor. Those who have seen the series will get the joke, if they realise I spent ages in second-hand equipment stores getting from 286 to Athlon 64 by way of 386, 486, K6, K6-2, K6-III, Celeron-A, Duron, Athlon, Athlon XP, and Duron again.
My first computer for myself? 1989. It could play Road Runner, Gauntlet and Ghostbusters.
My first year of college. My parents bought me a laptop through a special deal with my college.

I got my first computer when I was 10 to bad it was from a pawn shop and a friend told me it was made out of old parts from past computers.
I got my first pc when my bf at the time got sick of me using his. It's built out of his old HP. When I get my tax return this spring I'm upgrading it. It can't handle Adobe programs, games, and all the friggen downloading I do on it.
Around September 2002, right before I turned 12 I "THINK". It could very possibily have been September 2003.
my first own computer was a… amstrad 464 monochrom with tapes. i was 10 (so it was in 1991). i played supercopter, green beret, rick dangerous and arkanoid for so many years!
well, i bought my first own pc 2 years ago. now it's full of anime and crap.

Back in the early 90s, my mom gave me her old work computer – an IBM 286, baby (she'd finally upgraded to a 486 -- livin' large). I lived my life in DOS and with floppy disks. I had this really terrible poker game I used to play on there all the time with characters named things like Lulu and Nasty. I was the most hardcore first grader ever.
Aside from that, if I wanted a GOOD computer, I just had to use the family one until I was 17, when I bought myself an eMac. Then I also bought a Gateway laptop for college so that I could have the convenience of both operating systems and everything, so... I've got two now.
Actually, before we had computers, I used to have a typewriter. It never had any correction fluid. That pretty much sucked.
The first computer I had access to was an Apple ][c… from 1986 on. That very computer was finally given to me in 1992.
And then later replaced with a Centris 610 in 1994.
Auto Duel and Pirates Gold were two of the greatest games to be had on an apple ][c. _
I wanted my own computer since I was small…didn't finally get one until 1997, which my dad got through bartering with a student who built computers. It was a Pentium 1 with a 3.5 GB HD, 30 MB SIMM RAM, Windows 95.
The computer I'm at now is my second computer, which I got myself. It's an AMD Athalon 1.23 Ghz, 256 MB DDR RAM, 40 GB HD. I guess that really counts as "the first computer I got for myself". And I think it's almost time to get another new one...

Hahahaha !! Yeah, we had an Apple IIe at our place, along with a really old Hyundai machine (Yeah, they used to make computers and not cars. Imagine that), though I didn't count those 'cause I never owned either personally. I can barely remember the kind of stuff we had on it though. Amazon Trail is practically the only thing I remember on the IIe, and as for the old hyundai, there were old, old oollldddd BASIC games or otherwise whatever we could run in DOS… RISK, this thing called GATO which no one except my oldest brother could figure out, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Wolfenstein 3D (that was killer), One Must Fall and the best one of all that I still play today with DOSbox… Ultrabots.

Last year,for my birthday.
I'm still using my old one though for awhile cus it has a internet connection.
My new one I use it for storing all my pics,songs and movies.
