I know it's not in the manga but, remember the 1st TV special? It just goes to show that my theory isn't farfetched at all, wouldn't you say?
What makes Raftel so hard to get to?
-
-
Do not ever trust the anime. I say that much. Haven't seen just that program you talk about, but still.
-
Alright, here's a thought.
What if the name of the ancient kingdom was…Raftel? What if the "city that no longer exists" is what's on Raftel?
-
Raftel is so hard to get to because
1. extremely hard weather and wind
2. an extremely strong current pushing outward from the island, which explains the reverse mountain
3. the log pose doesn't point to it (wouldn't it be nice if we had a raftel grand compass?)
4. You will have to swim over which devil fruit users can't do because of their curse ===> Shanks and WB can't get to it but they are said to be the closest piratesI don't think there are any guardians for raftel since "One Piece" wasn't there initially so therefore, there will be nothing for the guardian to be guarding. Unless Roger setted up some crazy monster to guard his treasure, which i doubt.
It can't be underwater because in the picture shown, it's clearly on land.Although i think that there is nothing on "Raftel" but there is something on there that leads to an island outside of grand line and that's where One Piece is.
-
I wonder if it is similar to Enies Lobby? Although there might be a slight change of anchorage.
http://media.photobucket.com/image/enies%20lobby/saiif/capture.jpg
It is somehow connected to Reverse Mountain or the redline by a thin piece of land. Sorrounded by a curtain of falling sea. That would make it hard for it to get there, unless you have a ship that can cross the distance between the sea and the island (Just like Sunny Go's Coup de Burst).

Well, now that this got bumped up, I got a dumb, but plausible one:
The reason why no one has reached it yet, is because the way to it is bogged down by the Great Powers. As seen recently, no Yonkou moves without a second Yonkou doing the same, and possibly a third one on him, as seen with Kaidou trying to intercept Whitebeard, with Shanks intercepting him. Also, the brunt of the Shichibukai resides here, like Kuma, Doflamingo, Hancock, when she's ordered to, Jimbei, until he quit, and Moria, until Kaidou sent him packing. Crocodile, as we know, hung out in Arabasta, and Mihawk just goes wherever he wants. And also, the most powerful fleets of the Marines are also there. As such, no one really can go anywhere past this blockade, so many Pirate crews ally with a Yonkou, as seen with Whitebeard, so if the blockade ends, they have a chance to advance. Also, I imagine a sizeable chunk of it is lawless, as the Yonkou probably have control over indivudal Islands as territory, probably like the real-life Tortuga Bay and Port Royal. So, once Maineford is done, it seems like all three of the Great Powers has taken some hits, and are now kind of weakened, leaving people like the Supernovas to try and break through.
Well, that's just a thought anyways.

Kono thread wa furui desu… :ninja:
But still an interesting thread. I agree that the All Blue before Raftel is a good idea (and I doubt that Sanji will just stay there all alone), and I also like the "no magnetic pull from Raftel" idea as well.
But maybe it's not really anything at or around Raftel so much as it is the stuff before Raftel and after crossing the halfway point under the Red Line at Fishman island. There could be (yeah, cliche, I know, but plausible) giant sea kings, extremely violent weather patterns, islands with extreme climates and/or unusually vicious fauna AND flora (Usopp has proven that for us already, though it's likely he's not in the New World), and maybe even DF users who eat nails for breakfast (not literally but you never know) and think they're tough enough to live in the New World.
Or, you know, it could be unusually calm and just have no wind… so you'd have to row halfway around the world to get to Raftel. Regardless, though, I'm really getting antsy about the Whitebeard War finishing so we can continue with the journey :pouty:
-
There might be a pirate graveyard before Raftel. I mean there must be some incanely strong opponets who kill pirates for fun or sth.
-
picks nose Maybe the sea around Raftel is made of JELL-O!
-
Perhaps because Roger was the only person 'known to get to it' that intimidates many more people into not even trying.
So perhaps it's a little bit due to fear factor.
-
Its going to be fucking crazy and epic.
Something between the Sky and the Sea, a crazy cave system in a reverse mountain with All Blue as it was mentioned, deadly traps, maybe it is somehow connected to Mariejoa (I dont know how the map works), crazy opponets inside that caves system, some skeletons like in the pirates of the Carribean, ancient crazy riddles Indiana Jones style, probably opponets will have to work together, Luffy, Croc and Kidd for example (maybe they will need Robin and Luffy will need sth they've got) a log pose , and I can see Croc doublecrossing them and becoming the PIRATE KING ! -
…yyeah, right.
I do like the idea of All Blue's close proximity to Raftel, though. Especially if All Blue is right before Raftel; Sanji would have achieved his dream, so why should he go any further with Luffy? Could be an interesting short conflict.
I know it was in the filler anime, but I think that's how they feel. Here is what Zoro said (not word for word, don't remember)
"At first we where all going after our dreams, but then it became something more, I found another reason"
And as Zoro has said a few times, that he wants to make Luffy the pirate king, and I think Sanji and everyone else feels the same way.
-

That's a good thought. After all, you want to help your friends, right?
I think Sanji would also want to stay and raise his bounty and maybe even get a different picture on his wanted poster (preferrably an actual picture rather than just a cruddy composite sketch)… though this could most likely occur before finding the All Blue.
Then again, knowing Oda-san, he'd probably just keep Sanji's poster as it is, unless another picture is used for his next wanted poster that turns out to be even worse than the sketch. o_o
But to get back on topic, hopefully the StrawHats will be ready for whatever the New World (and Raftel) can possibly throw at them. I'm guessing they won't, but will still continue on and barely make it through like an RPG player who's at a really low level but somehow makes it past a difficult boss battle. Just a thought.
-
Nah, they will get along just fine until they meet some major players. I bet it will be just like the first half of the grand line. Everyone will completely underestimate the Straw Hats and get their butts handed to em. I mean Lola and co came from the NW and not a one of them was anything special.
One thing I really like about One Piece is that not every battle is an epic struggle for survival. It can almost get that way, but it's not like every force is just leaps and bounds ahead of the one before it. Pluss some boss is going to accompany them for a while so I bet they will be set and relaxed for a while.
-
It's hard to get too because it needs to be hard to get too for the story to function. You don't hide the world's greatest treasure at any old floating rock.
-
There be dragons.
-
Cause Oda made it that way… woot woot
-
Because its island where only Pirate King has been sailed. Its the truth yo.
-
If the World Government has the sea stone power and can go pass Calm Belt easily, why wouldn't they just go to Raftel directly since they know it is at the end of Grand Line?
I'm sure that they want One Piece because that's the ultimate way to stop the Pirate Ages. Wouldn't this be an easier shortcut without going through the New World? -
Seeing as Crocus hasn't ever been to Raftel, that's probably not all that accurate a depiction of the island.
Saw this quote while checking out this thread and had to chuckle. This conversation was started when Oda was doing Enies Lobby, right? How much we've learned since then.

Only way to get to raftel is probly to turn the ship upside down around sunrise :D

@Geo:
Only way to get to raftel is probly to turn the ship upside down around sunrise :D
haha
i think that raftel is going to be (ofcourse) the hardest island to get to becouse you need to beat everyone that is going after it , i dont think WB just sat on his ass after roger died,he must have gone after the tresure right away or atleast soon ,and then he had to go through all the new pirates and everything but then when it settled down and people stopped throwing theyre lives away ALL the time,he just waits until he finds someone he wants to help become the new pirate king becouse he knows hes to old to enojy it for any long time.
So when roger pirates were geting to raftel they didnt have the massive 4 yonkou and admirals and alot more WG power and all the pirates , now that it had becouse the pirate era its alot harder since then , but i also think there are some origenial obsticles. -
Wait, what about that disease Roger had. I'm blanking out on all the details (if there were any), but wasn't sailing all the way to the end of the GL was where he came down with the illness? Perhaps whatever sort of toll it takes on the body and/or ships is what has kept the WG from sending people to it.

first i wanna say. i doubt anyone of the strawhat crew would just get up and leave after their dream has been satisfied. like zoro said once something along the lines of "your dreams are meaningless if u cant even achieve to realize your captains dreams " and im sure the whole crew feels that way except maybe usopp who had already left once before
and raftel is really hard to get to prob. because of a bunch of different scenarios which the whole crew will have to put thier special skills to the test
i think there will be lots of ancient writing that robin will have to read that will help guide them to where one piece is allegedly hidden
as for defeating giant sea kings zoro, luffy, and franky could handle any of that no problem
and as for the terrible ship sinking weather thats up too NAMI to take care of which she will counter with her new powers/technique that she will learn by that time
i have a theory about the weather topic : the reason y gold roger made it to raftel and won his battle against shiki in volume 0 is because Monkey D. Dragon was in his crew

hahaha that really doesn't look like Dragon, not gonna lie…...but that would be hilarious.
-
I have a feeling that if Dragon really was in Roger's crew, Garp would know about it and probably something would have been said already. Though who knows, but it really looks nothing like him in that other picture.
-
well in defense shanks doesnt really look like shanks either …kinda. if it weren't for the strawhat he kinda looks like zoro to me O.o
-
I agree with some of the mentioned ideas up above. We'll figure out in 13 years or so….
-
Maybe there's something in Raftel that we haven't seen before… like an obstacle greater than cyclones or sea kings...
I'll just wait for Oda to surprise me (and leave me speechless for a day).
-
I'll tell you the truth… it is so hard to get to Raftel cause of a tree.... there is this thin tree in the way and no Pirate other than Roger has ever figured out if he should go to the right or left of the tree.
