Aokiji knew Sauro and Sauro was a D. That's about it.

You can say the same for any other mugiwara. All the flashbacks really tell us about the character is what drives them to do what they do. We don't know what happened before or what happened after the flashback, although we might be able to extrapolate, but it's not really important, at least it's not important now. It might become important later.

I personally want to know about the rest of his family. I get the feeling there is more to Luffy that we think. Like he has some sort of dark past that he never talks about. What if that issue was brought up amongst the crew?

Guess it is quiet fitting that his past is the most shrouded in Mystery.
Not to mention he is a Huge Fan of Gold Roger. -
Luffy to me was always the less mysterious of the bunch, now you guys are making me reconsider.
We really don't know his family roots we only saw him as a child in Fuusha Village after Shanks already came, we know nothing about what went on with him before Shanks came, not to mention after Shanks left till the time Luffy was 17.

We know what's been shown to us - that's he's goofy, loyal, and would do anything for his friends. But besides that, we know nothing. I often wonder if the other crew even think about how much they know their own captain.
