I really want to get to Water 7 cause I heard its a great arc, last episode of the anime I watched was episode 160, and I'm on chapter 255 of the manga. I kinda want to skip straight to episode 227 of the anime and watch up to what G-F has to let K-F catch up, if I did this, would I get many spoilers by skipping most of skypiea and davy back fight?

If you really want to skip that much, you'll miss out on a lot of Skypiea goodness, the Davy back fight and the blue pheasent. Keep going, try not to think about Water7.

Oh I will be watching them, when K-F gets them out, I was gonna watch Water 7 to give K-F more time. The question is by watching Water 7 would anything from Skypiea and/or The Davy Back fight be spoiled?

Not really. In skypeia it doesnt affect the situation with the world goverment. So you arent really missing anything.

I'm really not a big fan of skipping ahead, I think it's just a bad idea because the story isn't meant to be seen that way. While the Davy Back Fight could be saved for later, I think Water 7 will just be better and make more sense if you at least finish up Skypiea. If you want, you could just read the last half of Skypiea in the manga so you'll know what happens.

You will most likely end up regretting it, If I was you I would stick to Skypiea and follow the series from there. But I wouldent just skip, if anything read the manga up to that point.

You can skip right ahead to 227 without any problems. No spoilers, except the money thing as was said. I'm advising a friend of mine to skip ahead and watch the awesomeness that is Water 7 too, but he's like "skip so many eps, wtf?" but it really won't matter. I did it too.. and that was even before skypiea so I read the manga and learned about the "dials" but you already know that now so np.

I don't think you're stubborn, just impatient.
You don't understand what I mean by "the art of storytelling". I just hate seeing a story being treated like blocks of information. You don't pick up a book and and skip a bunch of chapters and go back and read earlier chapters. That's silly. But if you don't already have the patience for stories in that regard, it will do me no good to try and convince you otherwise. Rant over.
And not everyone thinks Water 7 is the best arc, I've met a lot of people that are annoyed with parts of it and some that even like it the least, so you'll just have to see for yourself. I think all the story arcs are great, it just happens that W7 is no exception. -

I sugest Reading the Manga to Finish Skypiea, then Start watching the Anime.
Hell-Fansubs Started doing it at 207 (the Davy Back Fight) and they don't do a Half Bad job.
The Only Reason I am advising against skipping anything is that Its a whole story that shouldnt be skipped, but that is just me I guess.

You DO want to see the scene where going Merry was fixed... what episode ws this? It was recently released by KF so it shouldn't be hard to find.
uhm anyway, I actually had the same question before XD
I did good on reading the manga like others said. It's really good reading it too because you don't have to worry about to be continued screens. That should at least tide you over you could probably read it all in a day, no problem. I read Skyia Davy Black and what not up to Gerusama's releases in about two days.BTW, don't bother with filler ;)

I wouldn´t skip it. One of the biggest beauties of One Piece is Oda´s tremendous foreshadowing skills.
Oda tells his stuff exactly how he wants to do it and that way it makes a big impact. By skipping this you will avoid some great experiences. I wouldn´t do it.
I would really read the manga before the anime. The anime does often have additional scenes that are not in the manga so even after you´ve read it the anime will still hold some new stuff for you.

zomg Franky wears a speedo XD I remember around a year ago I clicked around the old site innocently fora bit and all of a sudden- "Oh no! What in the world! Usopp how could you! Luffy how could you! I can never look at One Piece the same again!"
Actually, I had quite a bit spoiled XD I knew Vivi and Robin Joined, I knew Bellemere died, and I knew CP9's trueidentities before I got to that actual point in the story.

CP9 Being Lucci, Kaku, etc.. is also what I found out on this forum but I never considered it a big spoiler, right now I still don't but yea it probably will hurt when those episodes come.

It IS a big spoiler. They're introduced as good guys, and CP9 is a mysterious group that you aren't supposed to know about other than that they made Robin go with them. When I saw who CP9 was, I was shocked. I sort of suspected Kalifa, but not the other guys. And Merry not being repairable really shocked me too. And all the stuff about Franky was a big shocker too. I think the number one phrase I keep uttering in W7/Enies Lobby is "didn't see THAT coming".

Hm...if I ever get the fandub to the point I might get him a voice like that....I wonder if it would piss the fans off or just make them love him more..... Shouldn't be thinking of that tho, I haven't even got episode 1 done, 233 is quite ways away....

Well, when I first started coming to messageboards, I really tried avoiding spoilers, but there was one or two that I couldn't seem to avoid no matter what I did because someone would mention it randomly - like Usopp fighting Luffy and leaving the crew. That was the one big thing that I got spoiled for, and it wasn't long before I grabbed the online manga and got caught up quick to avoid any more spoilers (because I HATE being spoiled). I caught up right around the release of chapter 345 or something.

It has already grown on me abit sense 240 but I still think he needs a manlier voice. I too avoid spoilers, I stick out of topics now which seem to be ahead of me but like you some I couldn't avoid, mostly it was peoples sigs, avi's, and posts in the OP Out of Context thread that had me find out who CP9 was, but at that time before seeing Water 7 I always figured they were villians from the start. So yea, but it wasn't something I could avoid without leaving the board.

I had it spoiled, but I suck with names so I didn't really know who they were until I actually read that bit of the manga XD I'd forgotten who was CP9 by then, so I was all "WTF" when they were unmasked. That was messed up. And I'm glad I had absolutey nothing about Franky spoiled for myself other than his appearance and his name.
I too expected some deep voice for Franky. After I saw 233 (the last one I own :/) I called up a friend and described his voice. I said something like "It's freaky! It's like Bon Clay's voice only IT'S NOT GAY! It's bizzare!" But after seeing watching his introduction (unmasked intorduction) on Youtube, I must say thevoice is growing on me. Now I can't magine the "FRRRRANKAY!" any other way.
I still vote the voice of Kronk from the Emperor's New Groove for his dub voice. XD

I wonder how a voice like Blueno would suit Franky.. but maybe the more 'crazier' version we have (and love) now is pretty good, since Franky is only the one-dimensional hoodlum when we first meet him, and when we see who he REALLY is and what he really is like, such a crazier voice is pretty suitable imo.
