If you end up liking Bayonetta 2 more than the first then I recommend giving it a shot. It stops being about a gazillion life bars, just genuinely hard as hell. Really rewarding though.

Got "Into the Breach" as I was a big fan of Faster than Light.
Turn based grid strategy game, where you fight a bunch of monsters trying to destroy some human islands, the "lifebar" of the islands is global, you only get 3 main units, and the enemies get ton of reinforcements, but most of your attacks move them around:
The turn order is:
the enemies either enter the stage or chose a target,
then is your turn you only get a move and one attack, in that order, recomended to try and push enemies in a way that they attack eachother, or to toss them to holes or the sea to their deaths, or where new enemies are about to spawn to block spawning.
Then nature effects take place, like if they are standing in fire, they catch on fire here, or if there is a high tide level, the sea rises, etc.
Then the enemy attacks take place, I still haven't figured out the order, but there is a button that shows the order
And finally the city defenses, or other neutral parties take effect, like escape vessels abandon the area.The game is very challenging, there are tons of mechs and pilots to unlock.

There is a shitshow in Hearthstone right now, a bug KOed montly ranked mode, because they were going to rework it. Before everyone fell back to the start of the ladder or very close to it, so the start of the month was very newbie unfriendly with people with big collections, better experience and tryharding with the top flavor of the month being in the kiddie pond, and people with not enough experience getting to the first third of the ladder pretty easily because it only took a good winstreak to get to it and then just lose or play another mode for the rest of the month.
The new system would have made the ranks take more wins to climb, but knocking down people just a few ranks so people with the same outlook will end up in the same tier, instead of everyone at the bottom. So Legends with legends, tryhards with tryhards, farmers with farmers and newbies with newbies.
But it is out right now, the change broke something.

Anybody playing Kingdom Come Deliverance?
All the shilling that youtube did actually sold me on the game. I'm not familiar with the devs or anything, but supposedly it's made by this small czech team with a budget of 5 million or something, for that it's pretty damn impressive, still kinda buggy though and not well optimized, I still get performance issues sometimes and that's with having recommended specs and all.
I haven't played to much of it, I'm still on Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny, but it gave me a good impression. -

Besides the 3d one with the devils, I haven't finished a castlevania that wasn't SoTN or one of it's 6 childs.
I did touch both 64 ones, and the PSP one that was bundled with SotN, oh and the demo of the 3ds one made in spain (why would someone add fall damage to a 2d castlevania, if getting back up to where you fell is usualy anoying enough is bafling to me)

I was reminded of Fez a few days ago while talking about game puzzles, and for some reason I decided I should try to play through it again after having come fairly close to 100% completion a few years ago before losing interest. But after a few hours, I just can't do it. I love the puzzles and secrets. The way some things are self-contained while others require deciphering clues all around the world. I think the platforming concept is really ingenious and has some really neat mechanics in some areas.
But beyond that, it's just pure tedium. First of all a lot of the platforming definitely feels like filler, but the main problem above all else is navigation. When I want to go back to some previous area that I now understand – assuming I even remember where it was -- it still takes forever to figure out how to get to the nearest warp gate and platform all the way over to the appropriate area. It's a massive pain in the ass, and given the amount of branching paths and secret/unlockable areas, I wasn't willing to put up with it. I like that the map tracks progress really well; better than most games in fact; but what it really needs is just the ability to select a screen from the map and warp there immediately. Maybe not EVERY little room but at least all of the hub-like ones.
So yeah, I abandoned it again, though I'm at least glad to say I was able to solve a couple of puzzles that had originally eluded me. It's just a shame I can't get everything I want out of it. I guess back to pining for a puzzle/exploration game of the same style, with a focus on environmental awareness and non-trivial puzzle deciphering. I think the latest game that came close for me was Obduction.

Tried out Bloodborne because it was free on PS+
It didn't click with me at all. I wasn't having any big trouble with the difficulty or anything like that, this ain't my first Souls rodeo after all. I just wasn't getting anything out of it, no real satisfaction or fun.
Like, I got to the second boss, Father Gascoigne, and I realized halfway through the fight that I was bored and just put down the game.

I've often wondered about that myself; seems like being supported by people who only want you there so the world can end in fire (with you going to Hell in the process) would be somewhat off-putting

That said, with 100% completion of Rondo of Blood, I'm going to move on to Dynastic Hero, the re-skin of Wonder Boy in Monster World.

[/HIDE]I just kinda randomly stumbled upon it while browsing the deepest corners of the PS Store and it stuck out to me so I doubt anybody's ever heard of the game at all. It reminds me of Golden Axe and Altered Beast for the Genesis/Mega Drive in terms of presentation. I see a little bit of Castlevania (1 and 3 mostly) in terms of gameplay, but most of the inspiration comes from a game I never played or even heard of before (until now) called Rastan Saga made by Taito in the late 80's arcade days.
The game's loads of fun if not a bit difficult, but maybe that's just me since I haven't been challenged this much by a game in a long time, so it's sorta refreshing to be tested in such a way.
I'd recommend the game to someone who's lookin' to grow a little (or extra) chest hair and a beard. It's available for the PS4, PSVita, Xbox One, Wii U, Switch, PC, and (believe it or not) Sega Dreamcast.

Getting started on Phantasy Star II now.
So in this game you don't "revive" fallen party members, you just straight up clone them. I don't know if it was the designer's intention, but it really makes me not want to let any of them die.
Also, it's beyond aggravating that I have to type my name in every time I want to save (or, rather, just type in AAAA)

Been getting back into Shovel Knight, doing all the feats for each part. Got all of Shovel Knights feats, and now doing all of Plague Knights. Just finished a run where I beat the game not using any tonics, buying anything, or getting any relics. I almost got the speed run feat, but was off by 17 seconds! I made a copy that was near the end where I can easily shave off that time. After that I just need to beat NG+, beat a boss without taking damage, and get through a stage using bombs only 15 times.

Having the depleting health bar wasn't a problem for the most part, with a few bosses taking a few tries, but Black Knight in the tower of fate and the Enchantress fight were brutal for me. Both together took me an hour to beat.

Awesome game. After finishing the game as Specter Knight recently. I can honestly say this is probably my favorite 2d Platformer of all-time. So much fun!
Can't wait for the Kings Knight DLC.After so many year i finally deceided to start up Metroid Prime again. Never got that far in the past. But now i sat down and completed it with all items.
Both gameplay and graphics have aged quite well. Probably one of the best looking games of that generation.
Controls (Gamecube version) haven't aged that well. My hand kept cramping up. Kept transforming into the morph ball will jumping.
You also need to see an enemy before you lock unto them. Stay still, press the aim button,targer and select the correct weapon/visor - Feels like way more of a hassle then most modern games.
Some bosses also had a bit of a "cheap" feel.. Especially the Rock golem.
Still had alot of fun. And i'll probably dive into Prime 2 rather sooner than later.I heard the Wii version seems to have better controls. Can anyone confirm?

I never had a problem with GC, but yeah everyone loves the pointer Wii controls. Lock-on still snaps you onto the enemy, but then you have a limited degree of free-aim, which MP3 was basically built around (enemies/bosses with very small/specific weakpoints).
Best QoL change, imo, was flicking wiimote to jump in morphball form. …Still worth mastering the tricky bomb jump timing on GC version, though, especially for all that amazing sequence-breaking (which you should absolutely try! It's even possible to get the plasma beam before Thardus!)

But first i'm finishing the other 2 Prime games. Would be interesting to see how they stack up to the 1st game.At the moment most of time goes to Enter the Gungeon. Easy to get into, hard to master.
Rogue-likes normally aren't my thing and honestly normally can't be bother to "Git Gud".
But something about that game, keeps me coming back. Definitely recommended. -

Why do I suck so badly at RTS. I tried picking Supreme Commander FA back up and lost to the easiest AI with a score difference of like 200,000 to 19,000. I just can't focus on everything going on at the same time.

Rimworld. Three deers just ganged up on my oldest and slowest colonist who just hauled material to my base and couldn't make it in time to the safe door. And that's just a minor problem. I love how you can manage EVERYTHING in this game, except the hazards.

Played two retro games recently and all I can say is thank christ Wii U has the restore point function (aka save scumming).
Gradius - Never played a Gradius game before and so I started with the first one (the port for Turbografx). And boy howdy is it a tough game. A prime example of how game designers artificially lengthened gameplay back in the day by making the game hella hard and having no save function. But since I do have a save function I was able to beat the game pretty quickly.
Ufouria - A cute little Metroidvania style game that, with a bit of polish, could've been a true blue classic game. It's a shame they didn't make more of them. But man, there was one segment of the game towards the game that was friggin' ridiculous and I don't know how I could have done it without the save function.
Next up, I'm gonna play more of the Wonder Boy games.

There are 7 2d castlevanias that should be replayed. The first one I don't think that it's one of them.

It's not that difficult outside a couple sections. Using save states for those sections to avoid going through the entire level again if you die too much helps too. Though I'm on the final boss and can only get hit twice Abd he has two forms.
I've never played the games so I'm going to play 1-4 and Symphony of the Night to start with. Might play the Japanese only PC Engine game too since it's apparently good.

With many of the various Mario games including Super Mario Maker referencing a lot of the franchise's history that would be hella superflous if not painfully redundant.

Played a few levels of SWAT 3. I remembered that I got MGS2's video cutscenes to work and installing that codec pack fixed SWAT 3's video cutscenes too so I can now play the story mode. I wonder if it fixed MGS1's videos too but don't feel like playing through the game to find out right now.
