The deaths of characters are asked alot, I even made a thread for all the questions to be put in and discussed, you might get a better response there then by making a whole new topic just for one character.

I'm pretty sure Oda said in one of those Q and A things that he is still alive just locked up somewhere.

The "I'm pretty sure Oda said in an SBS" thing is often said but often disproven. :laugh: I won't believe it until I actually see the SBS.

It just seems to me that since Luffy didn't kill any other of his opponents, then Arlong is probably still alive too.It was not mentioned in an SBS. I checked all the post-Arlong SBS sections and found nothing.
It appears Oda said Arlong was alive in an interview.

Arlong took Gomu Gomu no Ax in the neck. Was knocked five stories down. And then the entire building collapsed on him. Uber Man couldent even survive that.

He is a magnificent GYOJIN, not a mere human.
Arlong Park fell around him, the vast majority of it likely did not land directly on him.
Was Arlong Park particularly heavily constructed? If it was just wood and drywall collapsing on him, that's not much.
How much damage does one of Luffy's attacks do? We must assume a fair amount of the force Arlong took was converted into acceleration, not bodily damage.
Or, I could just sit here and rock gently, muttering to myself "One Piece ended at chapter 81, the rest is filler."

Pell got blown up with a BOMB that was going to take a TOWN out and still LIVED.
Franky got hit with a massive and fast sea train and lived.
Kuro got a huge massive attack that surely would have broken his neck, and he lived.
see where this is going? xD
