School Rumble Discussion

Well, as some of you may know, I've had a lot of difficulty getting into new anime recently. Most of the ones I see just seem to be the same old same old. But I'm REALLY liking School Rumble.

Granted. It does have some qualities of a typical anime - girl likes guy, but is afraid to tell him. However, there is also this crazy punk/yakuza-ish guy who is in love with the same girl - he is hilarious! Harima reminds me a lot of Onizuka (GTO). I like the dynamics with Harima liking Tenma - it brings something a little different to the table. They also go into the side characters a bit, and develope them, so they're not just 2D characters only there for T&A. I also like how there is fanservice, but it's not blantant, showing a panty-cleavage-ass shot every couple minutes.

It may not be the new Cowboy Bebop or One Piece on my anime list - but I do enjoy it. (Which is nice, because I've really been having trouble finding series I enjoy recently.) Does anyone else here like it…and further more...does anyone else know where I can get manga scanslations? It was bizarre - WALDENBOOKS had the frickin' Japanese tankabons (for double the price), and yet Kinokuniya and Book Off didn't.

Anyway, I've read School Rumble, and it's pretty amusing. =) Haven't seen the anime yet, but I think I might start watching it soon. I hear it follows the manga extremely well?

I've seen the first 6 six episodes of this show, and I love it! Sorta has a Azumanga Daioh look to it & the humour is quite similar. Harima is hilarious, the guy rocks my socks off & the Initial-D gag had me clutching my sides, not to metion that molester in park. :lol:

Hah, I'll definitely stick with this show, it's just too funny.

i've only seen the first 2 eps and i like it very much. it's completely stupid! the ep1 reference to initial D made me love this serie instantaneously. i have up to ep 15 on my pc and can't wait to watch the next eps.

For those who know the series the second season is out and it's just awesome.

It brings back memories of the first ones and has rekindled my love for it again. I'm looking forward to the character development and I'm rooting for Eri x Hiruma.

The intro is awesome and now I simply hooked with the song.

My girlfriend and I watched it last night. The new opening is nice, but we both liked the first season the best. The episode was really cute. I liked Samurai Hiruma in the beginning. I wish he would grow his goatee back already.

i just finished rewatching the 1season in time so i just fell back into the fun. I liked the ep as well but now i realised that i'll have to wait a week for a new dose :sad: :laugh: The OP and ED aren't bad either.

Yah the beginning was just hilarious. How Harima just owns the giant. Although I prefer him without it, but it did make him look more ganster like.

And I can't wait for the next episode. It's going to be me favourite since they really show the true meaning of the word "School rumble"

! It was quite touching when karasuma let tenma win, I didn't think he had any feelings for her.
! And also I can't wait to see Ikoto-sensei and her sniper skills, its going to be awesome!

Anyone watching the second season? It's very good, better than the first at least by a comedy standpoint. Doesn't have as many "meaningful but boring" episodes as the first season. It seems I can only find up to episode 15, guessing that's because they're still releasing it.

I like School Rumble, but I've been losing interest ever since the episode after the basketball ones. Why? Because it has lost its direction much like it did at times in the first season. They also have way too many characters who end up as being fairly one dimensional compared to the central cast, yet they keep on getting screen time. Why has it been shying away from the Tenma/Harima/Karasuma triangle that was the centerpiece of the first season? Of course Harima has a harem's worth of pairings now, so I guess they're exploring those.

Anyway yeah I agree, they added too many characters that don't need screen time, like Asuo and the basketball girl who no one likes. I like Tenma and their friends a lot more. Gotta love the Hanai/Harima rivalry.

eps 15 & 16 were amazingly funny. the writer have some mysterious ways of using the same old jokes about misunderstanding while it's never boring.

I really hope there won't be a third season, as I already wasted quite some time on season two after that wonderful first season. I don't want to waste another 8 tot 12 hours on a disappointing season. Or like said before they should take care to have some extravagant wonderful material for that third season.

^I liked some of the second season but there wasn't enough KenjixEri time, I mean that was the most I would get out of these episodes. Or at least show Kenji in a different light other then that hairdo he started with. I mean, those girls would most likely flock to him if he dressed that way lol.

Also, I caught the first episode in English on Veoh. The dub ain't half bad but I THINK they pronounced Tsukamoto wrong, they pronounce it "skamoto." I heard that it how it's pronounced when said speedily though.
