Originally, a version of the script for this movie "became" parts of the film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) and Kevin Smith said that that's the closest he'd come to a Clerks. (1994) sequel and that he was putting Jay and Silent Bob to rest. However, after working on the 10th anniversary edition DVD of the original "Clerks", Smith remembered how much he fell in love with the characters and why he got into the movie business in the first place, and decided to make this movie.

I heard about the cartoon movie a while ago. I think it's called "Clerks: Sellout." Anyone who hasn't seen Clerks: Uncensored (the animated series on DVD) really really needs to. Has to.

Clerks was always awesome, probably Smith's best (even though I like Mallrats the most). Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was a gigantic disappointment to me. But, I'm surprised about a Clerks sequel, I wonder what will happen in it? I just hope it follows the same "everyday life" kind of story as the original.

From what I've gathered, Dante and Randal get fired from Quick Stop in the beginning of the film and work at Mooby World. Jay and Silent Bob will appear in it as much as they did in Clerks.
I thought the animated movie was The PAssion of the Clerks.
