The NY actors are great in general. Much of the hit or miss nature of 4Kids dubs is the aforementioned censorship combined with the script choices and voice direction. The 4Kids dub was quite good considering all that, and I think the majority of the actors would do an even better job on a new dub with less kid-focused bottlenecking (and less forced accents).

You can't really said that. Yeah, 4kids were pretty bad how they handle One Piece and some of their other show. But they did give us in my opinion, the best adaption of TMNT. As well a really good dub of Shaman King and Ultimate Muscle (Heck, if it wasn't for 4kids, we wouldn't had the 2nd season of Ultimate Muscle).

Kodansha JP version is the same as the original. So the print changes are gonna be in the american version, we can assume.

I think that Faust lack of actual redemption is the thing that is going to grind more gears. I don't think he's pretty and tragic enough to get away with molesting someone's liver in this day and age.

They made that change in the recent rerelease of the series that came out a couple years ago. The new US release of the manga also have these changes as well.

Well, I that's probably their way of thinking, there are already a ton of fans that know about the characters and even new fans can easily grab the manga volumes, so it doesn't make much sense to hide it.
I think it also means that they're planning on using this intro for most of the series, instead of updating it every 6 months or something.But it does leaves me wondering if they're planning to rush some of stories of the first part of the series. I really hope not.

The first anime had 64.Hoping that's not the whole series, not that the new anime should go on forever but I figured it would take around 1,5 or 2 years.
With only 52 eps they're going to skip something. Either the small world building chapters from the first volumes, same thing the previous anime did, or some of the messier plots from later in the series. -
Based on the first episode, they're rushing the beginning.

I kinda figured they would speed through the early part already covered by the original, Brotherhood did the same thing.
52 episodes still a little tight for a 300 chapter series but not a disaster unless they make it one, lol.

Yeah, the first episode was nice, it has a quick pacing.
And I image they'll cut or simplify a lot of the Apostoles arc, that was a bit of a mess in the original and Takei has said he regrets some choices he made after he lost some drive working on the series. I image he's talking about that part. -
I didn't remember that Manta screamed so much. I think that's deserving some organ fiddling.

Some good news for the original Shaman King anime. Discotek will be releasing the 4kids dub and the original Japanese version on blu ray.

Some good news, Netflix got the trailer for the english dub of the new Shaman King. For the dub, it seem some of the cast of the 4kids dub of the original series are coming back. So far we know, Horo Horo, Manta, Tao Jun, Anna, and Faust

Super happy they got back who they could, but I fear for how they're handling Anna. I love Tara Sands, she does so much great work. But her Anna was never quite right, got more high pitched and hammy the further the dub went, and where I was hoping they'd give her better direction this time, it seems too beholden to the original dub. Ah well. At least they let Lisa Ortiz lose the British accent for Jun, which bodes well for characters like Ryu.

The first 13 episodes of the new Shaman King anime is now up on Netflix. I have watch the first couple episodes so far, I'm enjoying the remake as well the dub for the series.

It took me a moment to get use to the new dub voices for Yoh, Ren, Ryu, and Amidamaru, since I was used to old original dub voices for those characters. But I'm happy that a lot of the 4kids dub cast have return for the new version of the series.

I finished up the first batch of Shaman King 2021 on Netflix. I'm enjoying the reboot of the series so far. I don't really mind the pacing for the series, since I figure they are going with FMA Brotherhood for the series and get through the stuff that was cover during the original anime as quick as they can. Also I didn't mind that the first batch of episode ended at right at the beginning of the America arc.
The dub continuing to get better, since now that I heard a lot of Ryu's new dub voice and I really like it now same for Yoh and Ren as well.

I couldn’t stand the dub, unfortunately. Gave it a fair shot, but it sounds like a 4Kids dub… I was pretty disappointed.
