Some chapters are 25 pages long, some is less then 19, the chapter 1 is 50 page long
Chapter 395 "Ohara vs. the World Government" Discussion
-
-
I can't recall any other under nineteen pages chapter than the unusual one we had a while ago. At least from those chapter which came out within the past few years.
Skypiea has some amount of chapters with less then 19 pages. In volume 26, there´s 7 of 10 chapters with 17 pages. Another one can be found in volume 28.
Damn do we need our fix of One Piece if the discussions got to that point.
-
You know why breaks make me cry?
Becuase that sucky part when we've done all the talking we possibly can about the most recent chapter and are just babbling about utter bullshit and it's so boring it makes me want to gouge my eyes out lasts so much longer.
its at this point that you start with some other series
-
@Kidany:
Yeah we're all just talking about how many PAGES there are total, it's obvious we need to get our One Piece.
Yes we really do. If next week for some reason there won´t be a new chapter I promise I´m going to count and sum up the pages of all 395 chapters. XD
BTW, I just realized that there´s thing about this chapter that I completely forgot to ask and about which I haven´t seen any mention in here. So just for the sake of getting back on topic somehow I´ll ask it now. When Spandain talks about Sengoku what rank does he name, is it Gensui (Chief Admiral) or Taishou (Admiral)?
I would really like to know that. Could anyone who understands japanese help me out with this little info? :molly:

"Taishou", or admiral.
-
Thanks for the info Selphish.
So Sengoku held the rank Aokiji holds nowadays. Hmm…interesting... :hmm:
-
**Could it be that he did something in this whole Ohara incedent that resulted in a promation?
And if my theory holds true that the admirals are part of the three powers, and they all have animal titles. Then Sengoku must've had another title back in his Admiral days.**
-
Defeating Sauro, who was a D., probably. Also, capturing/killing Olivia who clearly the government REALLY wanted to catch/kill would have been a big promotion grabber.
-
Can someone refresh my memory and remind me who Sengoku is? Was he mentioned before the flashback chapters?
-

He is the the head of the marines. He appeared at the meeting with Tsuru, Donflamingo, Kuma, lafiatte and Mihawk.
-
He's the Gorousei now, the one that called the meeting about replacing Crocodile. The one where they issued Luffy's and Zoro's bounties.
Edit:Nvm, Octogon got to it before me.
-
@Octogon:
And if my theory holds true that the admirals are part of the three powers, and they all have animal titles. Then Sengoku must've had another title back in his Admiral days.
You meant Vice-Admiral days, right?
Well that´s what I thought too. But then again, this entire Three Powers thing might have been developed later on when the Pirate Age began to become a large thorn in the eye of the WG. I doubt that this is something that existed for generations. I at least think that the Shichibukai we know right now, are the very first ones of their kind.
And if the Three Admirals are truly a one of the Three Powers, then Aokiji and the other two are probably also the first ones of their kind. Just my opinion on that matter.
-

No, I meant Admiral. Since he is now chief-Admiral and Spandian called him Admiral.

I also think the schichbukai are the first of their kind. And you do bring up an interesting point. I just assumed it because it was after Rogers execution.

Yep. I agree with your idea.
-
@Kidany:
He's the Gorousei now…
Nope, the Gorousei and Sengoku are two different things. This is the Gorousei and this is Chief Admiral Sengoku.
@Octogon:
No, I meant Admiral. Since he is now chief-Admiral and Spandian called him Admiral.
Well, my bad then. I thought you were looking at it the same way as with Kuzan, who as Vice-Admiral has his normal name but as Admiral gets a animal name.
I also think the schichbukai are the first of their kind. And you do bring up an interesting point. I just assumed it because it was after Rogers execution.
That´s true, but back then the Pirate Age was going on for just two years and maybe the WG was hoping for it to end shortly. In Franky´s flashback however when they talk to Spandam they are actually annoyed that this Pirate Age is going on for ten years now. That´s why they actually decided to use the power of an Ancient Weapon themselves.
I think that this sounds like the perfect where the Gorousei considered other drastic options to stop the Pirate Age. And one of them might be the option to recruit strong pirates that will work for the WG. Seems plausible to me.

hmm..one thing I wasn't sure about..who is higher up, Gorousei or Sengoku?

@Bad-Beat:

The Gouresi are. They are called "The leaders of the world". Sengoku can't be above them because he isn't directly part of the government, more like a a branch.

but the gorusei ordered to kill clover was a different one of the now in charge 5 gorusei or was one of them??
another thing: the gorusei are the leaders of WG? they give orders to sengoku?
last thing: when spandain talks about sengoku? for what thing?Ps: gorusei are lost kingdom last men standing? like people who need to cover the 100 years blank?

the shadows matched the current goursei.

In a sense, I think they do order sengoku. But rarley is my guess.
last thing: when spandain talks about sengoku? for what thing?
Sengoku gave Spandian the golden den den mushi. So he now has the authority to launch the buster call.

thanx octogon!
bla bla bla (to longer the msg) -
I think this is the case…
the three powers?
1. World Government
2. Navy
3. Shibukai1. world government - the politic people
probably lead by the five gorusei
and all the 170 something kingdom's leaders?
2. Navy - the army
grand admiral (now is sengoku and no idea who this was before)
three admirals and whatever else follows
3. shibukai - the 7correct me if I'm wrong becaues I'm not too sure
-
I personally believe the gourousei are extremely powerful fighters, and that while they are 'politicians' they are also quite capable of defending themselves when they need to.

I think that too, especially that buddah guy

Thats true. The Gorousei are even called the highest authority of the World Government. There certainly is no one above them.
As far as Sengoku is concerned well, just compare it to the real world. Let´s take the USA. No matter how high a rank is that you can achieve as a military officer you will still be below the president of the USA and have to follow his orders.
-
Are you kidding? The president is just a figurehead.
Need…chapter...now...before...political...debate...ensues...

The president may be a figure head, but his status in the army is always Commander in chief.
Need…. chapter.... 3ish days... left.... before... new chapter....

Yeah..but Bush is such a dumbass… need...new......chapter...... 396......now....... WAAAHH !!!!

be patient people, we've waited just under 3 weeks so lets just wait a little longer, I know it's possible.

I've yet to find one genuine summary on 2chan.
All of the "spoilers" I've read have been fakes.

yep yep. I agree as well. I actually don't think any one person we've met so far has the ability to take them down. ( excluding the OP elite)

I think they are near Newgate's level, and that if Shanks is eventually beaten by a group other than the strawhats, it will be by them.

speaking of commander in chief, what do you guys think about the new series about a lady president?
-
I'm with you…the guy with the sword was what first made me think that
I don't know about the others, but that old buzzard is tough if for no other reason than the fact that his sword hasn't killed him yet.
-
Are you kidding? The president is just a figurehead.
Need…chapter...now...before...political...debate...ensues...
Uhm….no, no he's really not.
Sorry, I mannaged to wait like twelve hours after reading this post before I went nuts and had to respond.
Seriously thought, no he's not. As mentioned before he's the commander in cheif of the army, navy, and air force and has the Veto. Let's take a look at the Veto shall we?
The Veto is the ultimate power in a democracy. It's the ability to say, to any law that the house and senate try to pass, that it isn't getting through.
Yes, there are ways to circumvent the veto, but frankly it's hard to get a regular majority of senators to agree on something enough to send it to the president for approval, let alone 2/3 of them.
And while we're at it, he also Okay's all military operations (well you know-the big ones, like whether or not to have a war at all.) And we could go a long way debating about whether he's an idiot, but the simple fact of the matter is that someone had to take care of saddam hussein and we were the only ones saddling up.
Of course, it didn't turn out until later that the French, the Germans, and Kofi Anon (I misspelled that, I bet) were making huge, illegal profits off of Hussein for years and that's why the UN wouldn't act, but that just makes the necessity of us going in even more acute.
You can, of course, disagree. Perhaps you think people having holes drilled through people's hands improves their typing skills. Or maybe you think that a mother of an infant child who won't give information to the secret police being locked in a cell next to a dirty cell her child is in and then listen as the child is not fed, cleaned or bathed until she's willing to pony up evidence is a fun time. Maybe gassing civilians because you don't like their politics sounds like a cool sunday for you.
Me, I say us taking that bastard out was a fantastic idea.

Not only the guy with the sword but all of the others except the guy standing up have battle scars.
-
Not only the guy with the sword but all of the others except the guy standing up have battle scars.
What would be sweet would be to see a huge group of pirates bust into WGHQ…..
And recieve an utter and merciless smackdown from the five old guys.
That would rock.
-
Quick question. Who are the other two powers? Shichibukai, ???, and ???.
-
Not only the guy with the sword but all of the others except the guy standing up have battle scars.
It just occured to me that we don't know for sure he has no battle scars. For all we know, his chest could look like a road map of the rocky mountains.
-

Veggie Pirates & the Saruyama Alliance.
-
**The fact that he is bald is evidence enoughf that he can kick arse. Plus he has glasses.
You just can't beat such a deadly combination.**

I mean those guys.
Oh my fckin god! Off topic, but still: The translation is COMPLETELY different from the german one O_o;
As far as I remember they said "The gap that he left is large!" and "If they (whitebeard and shanks) meet things will be tough. but the red one doesn't search for world domination, he just wants to let of steam. so we should let him do so for a while" or something like that. lol. the message is almost the opposite!!! xD
-
@Battle:
Veggie Pirates & the Saruyama Alliance.
Genius! Though I thought it would've been Usopp's 8,000 men instead of the Saruyama Alliance:sleep:
In any case, I think that the Gorousei definitely have skill in battle. Though, I've always wondered how the power of one group of gorousei to another group of gorousei is transfered, whether it was by inheritence or by seeing who serves the best potential at guarding the secret of the ancient kingdom. Though, the inheritence transfer does seem rather illogical to me. In fact, this story is beginning to look like The Giver by Lois Lowry (not exactly one of my favorite books…). It seems that both are totalitarian societies, each hiding a secret that would lead to the destruction of their societies, and in the Giver, only people with certain qualities are able to hold that secret, though, the case would be different, since only certain people are able to hold the secrets.
-
I mean those guys.
I was wondering about the centre Gorousei guy, is that a battle scar on his forehead or a birthmark?
Could be Oda's homage to Gorbachev.
-
I don't know but the scar on the far right guys head is definitely a sword-scar.
-
I don't know but the scar on the far right guys head is definitely a sword-scar.
Actually that´s definitely not a sword-scar. A sword scar is what Zoro has on his chest and on his legs. Or the one Crocodile has over his face. It´s a thin scar that matches with the clean cuts sharp objects like swords or knives provide.
The scar that the guy on the far right or the guy on the far left has on his chest comes from anything else but from swords or knives.
It could either come from animals claws or it could be explosion scars, since the flesh is damaged by much more then just a clean and thin cut.
-
Well there are different kinds of swords in One piece and a sword wound that's not stiched up acutally ends up looking big and ugly. So these two could very well be from sword wounds or not. I don't give damn.
