If or when we go to Impel Down, what would it be like? Since it was described as a “hell” for pirates, I was thinking something from Dante’s Inferno. (Ever read that?) Like Dante’s version of Hell, Impel Down can have sections and in each section there’s a “Punishment”.
The lower the prison, the more worse the punishment. In the Inferno, Dante describes the section, the people within it, and the punishment following. Like for example, in the 2nd Circle (Lust), the punishment is that you are caught in a storm of wind and are separated from your lover. People like Cleopatra and Achilles are there.
The final circle, (the 9th) is worst of all, Betrayal. The punishment there is that you are incased in ice and Satan chews you up and spits you out for all of eternity. The three that suffer the most are Judas, Brutus, and Cassius (the worse sinners of Hell). They are eaten within Satan’s three mouths. Of course, Oda won’t do anything this harsh, but it would be interesting to see someone like Crocodile in Impel Down and his punishment. And, how Oda would arrange it.
This would also question how far the Marines would go for Justice. To torture pirates to atone for their crimes? The Marines are pretty messed already and more controversy would continue to degrade them in the worse way possible if Impel Down had a breakout. Or if what they are doing to pirates in Impel Down somehow goes public.
I’m not trying to start a religious debate or change anyone’s beliefs. Just had a stray thought. Now, I’m interested to hear your responses.
