I have a Power Book G4 17 inch Macintosh OSX. About once every day some application would shut down unexpectedly. I thought this was minor until it happened with a 10 minut flash moovie I had been working on all day. It closed flash right when it was saving. If anyone knows why this is happening please tell me.

how much ram do you have? the rule of thumb is still the same with PCs, if you wanna do art/media work, you need hella ram. (1 gig or up)

bring it back to apple store and complain about it. it is false myth that macs dont crash. they do. they're just more stable than PCs, meaning that they don't crash as much, but they do.

but then again, if you treat your PC well, they won't crash either. i've had my PC for 4 years and it has crashed TWICE. i've had my powerbook for less than a year and it has crashed ONCE. in the end it comes down to how you take care of it, and how well you prepared it for the tasks that you're going to assign it to.

i use photoshop a lot, editing huge files, and i have 768mb ram in it. it seems that 768 is just about enough, since after a couple of days photoshop slows down and lags, but it has never crashed. my friend who's a graphic designer has 512mb of ram with indesign, illustrator, photoshop, AND bittorrent open all the time, hers crashes a lot (DUH).

it is best to bring it back to apple store and bitch to the "geniuses" about it, but my guess is that you might need to add more ram. especially if you're editing stuff like flash movie.
