I'm thinking maybe Hajime no Ippo (released in the US as "Fighting Spirit"). Mashiba's one of the characters, and he has a punch in the manga that I could see being animated to look kinda like that, though the range displayed goes a bit beyond HnI's normal style (in the manga at least, I haven't seen the anime). If the art was a little more clear, I might be able to say more for certain.

BoxTorrents has a huge Ippo torrent for the anime, and snoopycool also has the first 51 volumes of the manga. Both are good.

Mashiba is my favorite character…his scenes (non-boxing scenes) are usually so funny, even when he's so serious.

oh, good! do look into this! Hajime no Ippo is one of my personal favorite series. It's wonderfully pulled off. Takamura Mamoru is the biggest force of nature this side of the boxing world of HnI, as far as I am concerned. But all my love :wub: is reserved for Takeshi Sendo.
