I think that some of the western mangas have potential and some look interesting like RePlay, Fool's Cold or Yonen Buzz. But my rant is that some of the mangas don't really have it's own style, at least from the way I look at it. And I'm not really interested in western styled manga with characters with big eyes, and stuff, to me it just doesn't seem original. It's just something I've seen over and over again.
But for the goodies I really like the other manga that looks like it has style yet has that special manga feel. I think it's also great that the story doesn't revolve around japan only. I'm also seeing these western improvements coming along quite well now cause before I never was interested in western manga (way too unoriginal).

I also did agree that REplay was original.

Van von hunter i really liked.. same with that blade for barter and last hope. Really enjoyable mangas. Bad side is that they take for ever to come out =/

Agreed. Most in the tokyopop and Sevenseas take months or a year. As for Yonen Buzz, it was really great. Its very originalcomparedto some others. Although I noticed something…In Tokyopop's other western-manga title "Idiotz", the title design looks exactly like 4kids entertainment's logo exept its written "Idiotz".

A message, maybe…?
I <3 Bizenghast (hope I spelled that correctly). I don't know why. Maybe because if Edaniel. BEST_MASCOT_EVER! (except for Chopper). It's awesome to see a creepy-looking cat...thing ranting about television, communism, cracker-jacks, and singing random song lyrics ("It's ELECTRIC! Boogie Woogie Woogie…") -
Western Manga…. bleh. It's just trying to fit into a certain 'style'. I haven't seen one I've like yet, except for Sharknife.

The only western manga I've read and somewhat enjoyed was Blade for Barter. Most of the stuff looks too…unoriginal, not to mention it's extremely annoying to hear that some of these use japanese terms like baka, kaiwaii non-stop.

If I wasn't entering the gaming industry, I'd be doing mangas, and original ones at that (read the "Inspiration from OP" thread).
But yeah, I actually haven't seen that many Western ones (save NeoTokyo or whatever…).

Actually, I'm planning on doing western mangas myself when I graduate from colege. I think I'll do for Seven seas. From seeing previous creator's flaws I'm more aware not to make them. I'm hoping mine will be good than some of the other stereotypical western manga creators.
