I can't believe it costs that much to get a years subscription.
I know it's 52 books but is anyone dumb enough to pay that much?
Seriously. I want to see a cheaper price.

$6ish for an issue is pretty steep. But the postage will probably be the one taking up most of that cost.
wow…that is really expensive...
395 dollars?! WTF?! when i went to kunicon they were a dollar…(then again they were old issues but still)

One dollar for a year's subscription? Or are you talking about single issues?
Because I would like 52 magazines for $1.
I think Warp was talking about each issue.
Including standard shipping, that's about $8 per issue. Steep compared to what the Japanese pay, but there are 52 thick volumes that have to be imported and then shipped to you. If you can't find it anywhere else, and can actually read it for full enjoyment, I don't think it's that bad.

Well, I guess you're outta luck right now.
Yeah i meant per issue. Tho they were really old. I went to kunicon in june and browsed through it and One piece was in vol 27.
Well, learning the language is out of the question right now for me until college (I have more reasons for wanting to learn Japanese)
Plus I don't have a job.
Here comes life to bite me in the ass again.
Damn….......Over 300 bucks!
Indeed, I don't see it as particularly expensive, provided you're reading several of the series.
You're getting like 400 pages a week of manga; the English volumes on sale are ~200 pages and cost eight dollars. Twice as much manga for the same money.
I think someone should arrange a service (hell, perhaps an APer in Japan can start a small business of this form) which buys "last week's" Jump (either from people who already read it, or if the shops dispose of unsold copies) at a discount, and then sends it directly to an overseas "subscriber". That way, you cut one shipping step out of the loop, and can get the magazines at less than full price, both of which will drive the price down.

You're comparing them to graphic novels. The US Jump has about 300 pages and is $5. It's monthly, less varied, and smaller, but still a pretty good deal. And considering its faults makes that Sasuga deal look even better, BatDan.
? Seems like a reasonable price to me considering you're paying to have a phonebook delivered to your doorstep from around the world every week for a year.

THAT'S THE SIZE OF WSJ?!
I guess they aren't stupid after all.
But I do want to show people that it's expensive.
Yeah wsj is HUGE. i went to my japanese bookstore today and it was huge. it was 4.60 there
Daisuke . . . I LOVE YOUR AVATAR.
I'm lucky to be in Japan. Only about 2 bucks an issue!
Speaking of which, tomorrow's SJ day! rubs hands together
too bad no one piece =(
tho 2 dollars lucky
actually 240¥
Still I wouldnt pay $300 for a book subcription that most Japanese throw away when the're done with it. Actually now that I think about it I dont even buy Jump anymore lately I just "tachiyomi" (stand and read) and walk off:glare:
That's what I did in Japan. I've never bought Jump when I lived there. Well, but I was young…
that price is about right. you can always find a job and pay for them. i would buy them on a weekly basis during high school at$4-$5 each. if you bought 10 american comics every week and had them delivered it would be more.

You people must hate me. Whenever I'm at the University Center I always snatch up the shitty tachiyomi copy that gets left over because I have no time for that between classes.
And especially if it's a colorspread, since the pages come out so easily, I can't see a reason not to buy it. My dorm was covered in badass colorspreads and artwork from series I don't even read XD
Damn.
I've never even encountered a Weekly Jump, and this thread makes it sound like they are walking down the street.
Must be where I live…..
Here's a tip, just buy them and when your done with them just sell them on ebay, you'll get some of your money back that way
i think they had them at tower books… although that was like 10 years ago... why don't you just look at the raws and compare them to the scripts?

Hmm…. on vacation once I got a few Jumps in an American comic book store for $4.95 or so each. 'Course, they were waaay outdated; I got them sometime around this summer, and the One Piece was late Jaya-early Skypiea. Still cheap, though.

Same here. :D
My workplace is near the city center so every week I stop by at Kinokuniya and read.
