Now is it really trigun 2 or is it just what the origional series neglected to cover from the manga ie the movie being the events of trigun maximum.

In the article they were calling it Trigun 2. But there is the possibility it will be the series all over again but summed up into a movie.

Considering that…
a)The part of the manga that the anime didn't cover is 4 times the length of what it did...
b)The anime changed a lot and even made up its own ending, and...
c)The manga's still going on......it seems impossible that any movie would be based to directly on the manga. It pretty much has to be a sequel to the anime's story, though hopefully it will include various characters and plot points raised in the manga as well. I wants me some animated Livio!

Well it all depends when they pick up the movie and who their audience is. If their audience has only seen the anime then that limits what they can do. However if they are doing the movie for the manga audience they can simply skip back to augesta and continue from there. Or maybe they are just going to do the traditional filler type movie.

Hmm well I know the writer of the article brought up the point of Wolfwood's death in the anime but not the manga. They wondered on how the movie would explain that if the movie had Wolfwood in it.
