What the…..900+ pages?????
WOW!
That's as much as Harry Potter!
It sounds like it would be a really good thing to get. I wonder who would scanslate 900 pages … ... I'm kidding.
Who the hell moved this to general o.o
The First Log is manga.
GEEZ, I have…all the volumes yet DO I WANT TO GET THIS >_>?
i did.
it is manga, but i thought this section is supposed to be a discussion on plots, characters, and other things like that. info about stuff like this should go to general
This is manga related. Also gives a chance for people to talk about the beginning again.
Uhoh….I sense some tension brewing....
Anyways,I put up an order for this at my bookshop.
Go off topic more and then some tension will brew.
So, who is getting this? I sure am, I hope Kinokuniya has it today when I go.
This sounds great! I'm getting this sometime this week.
how much is 780 yen american dollars is it $7.80? or $78.00
Around $7.40. But obviously it's going to cost more than that if you buy it at Kinokuniya and places like that (assuming you don't live in Japan).
This isn't actually a book, it's a magazine. Like a 900-page issue of Jump, just with all OP. Don't know if I would consider it a good substitute for the actual books, which have nice covers, clean printing and quality paper etc.
Oh really? They had something similar with Gantz…except it wasn't 900 pages.
No, I wouldn't say it's better than owning each individual volume, but I think it's still a good thing to have.
i'd get it if it was in english heeh
you mean if it was butchered? ^_^
magazines like this is perfect for collectors. i'd like to get one myself if there's a store here in SD that sells these things
hey stephen, you're from sandiego aren't you? where do you go to get these things? mitsuwa marketplace?
I'm surprised you haven't found a place that sells OP in SD. SD has a pretty large population of Japanese, so I'd imagine there would be such communities and places.
I'd never buy any OP volumes in english, meh…
Bah, had to special order it.
Me too, Sanseido said they won't be getting it. Actually I might just hold off on it… It's kinda cool but unless I get someone to send it to me it's not worth ordering and waiting.
Good thing I don't live 100 years ago ^O^
The Asahiya in Mitsuwa is really the only decent place in San Diego. There might be other stores that offer a few manga but none as large as the Asahiya. Though lately I have moved toward ordering online because a lot of the manga I want, they don't stock.
The Asahiya in NYC was an incredible manga source.
But that closed down.
Next was the Kinokuniya in Mitsuwa NJ.
Then that turned into the 1/3 size Sanseido.
Unless you travel into the bowels of mid-town NYC for Book-Off the decent manga joints are few and far between.

I feel your pain. The Asahiya in London (Collindale, near my school) closed down and that was the largest Japanese book shop in Europe. JP Books is good and the service is better, but you just can't get the same selection.
But I think JP books are ordering in First Log. I hope so, I'm insanely curious about it.

I can think of a few off the top of my head, both Kinokuniya and Book-Off around midtown.
What about the Kinokuniya at Rockefellar?
Kinokuniya NYC's manga selection reads like a list of weekly top 100 pop artists. If you're looking for good old stuff that isn't for kids, it's impossible to find. Book-Off is of course a huge help but what it carries is completely random so trying to actually collect a series is like pulling teeth. It's better for attempting to fill gaps.
new york is twice as good as cities like oslo way up in nowhere…
What about Asahiya Shoten? That's a good place for your OP needs, I think.
(Maybe we're getting a bit off topic here)
Has anyone bought The First Log yet?
O_O I can hardly believe my eyes and ears. That sounds like one hefty book. I'll consider getting it, except I've already got 1-5 translated in English.
does anybody no where i can get this first log in michigan? its pretty cheap so i will get it
Does anyone know the ISBN for this? I been looking for it and cant find a thing =/ I need it in order to order it at kinokuniya
I ordered it there. I just showed them the add that is on that little thing that is around volume 36. That did the trick.
ALRIGHT!!!
I've officially bought THE FIRST LOG from Kinokuniya!
Its 914 pages long and has lots of spoilers for the upcoming movie.
Its as thick as a dictionary and the page quality is better then the weekly Jump.
Every chapter's first 4 pages are in full colour.
Its from chapter 1 to the final chapter of the Kuro arc.
U get a very very cool binder in it too!!
It has all the villians up to Foxy on it on the back cover.
The first chapter is in full colour!
ok i'm gonna buy it >_<

It reminds me of AKIRA manga, those big ones.
Bah, I'll probably order online as well and send to home-home, so I don't have to worry about looking for it when I go Japan.
Forte, do you see a isbn number on there?
ISBN number????
Errr….whats that?

Full color chapter 1!? First 4 pages in color of EVERY chapter!?
Do my eyes decieve me!?
I guess we know why Oda hasn't done much color recently.
First 4 pages in color of EVERY chapter!?
You sure about that? I mean Oda had a CRAPLOAD of color pages/chapters in the beginning. Just a coincidence?
I want it… drool
NOPE!
ITS TOTALLY TRUUUUE!
spins
And you get a gold lettered cover binder for one of your fav manga in it.
It's quality is unbelievable!
Weird, it's not listed on Amazon.co.jp. Maybe Shuei-sha is using Forte EXE to deceive us!!
/me goes crazy.
Heh.
Forte, ISBN is the bunch of alpha-numelics probably listed on the back of the book. ISBN for One Piece v36 is ISBN: 4088737687. Look for the word ISBN, will ya?
i feel so sad…. u guys all have (or had) a great shop or online service. while i'm trapped here in Brazil with two publishers and both of them aren't exactly premium. At least i have my OP ^^ (with Ruffy -_-)
Okay then.
I'll look for the ISBN when I get home from school.
Wonder if I should get it (Thank god I have Kinokuniyas here =P)
Could someone scan some pages when they get it?
Um, have you actually SEEN the manga? Because um…I just checked the online preview and while the original color pages are color, the rest are just as they always have been.
nope.
In the first log,the first chapter is in colour.
so are the first 4 pages of the other chapters.
BTW,I'll have the ISBN number up soon.
I'll scan the pages when I have the time.
figures out how to cram entire book into his measly scanner
So you actually have a copy when you say this? Well all right then, but goddamn that's a lotta work. The paper has to be thin enough to cut atoms!
