@andre It's kinda like the Reverie setup goes all the way back to Fishman Island, but it was built up only between arcs, while this war can't wait that long and is being built up right in the middle of an arc.

Such a shame that Elbuff of all places needs a yonko protection
They shouldn't !!
Oda Fucked all its hype with this dumb reveal.
events in Egghead is more interesting than spike head dummy
one thing that makes zero sense is why would the government spy who informed on Vegapunk would trap and imprison cipher pol agents who are supposed to be on his side ? only a rebel would do that! but a rebel wouldn't inform the five elders about punk trespassing a prohibited matter so what the fuck is going on ?
also oda dropped many hints that the culprit is a vegapunk clone and 90% of readers bought that but not me
because that would make vegapunk the dumbest scientist without a question like how could you make something that suppose to serve you to kill you ? we're talking about a serious humongous mistake that simply doesn't fit punk's reputation as the most genius.
I recall that Elbaf was described at Whole Cake as one of the strongest countries, and that was besides Kaido's territory of Wano at the time.
-
As I see it, Elbaf isn't necessarily Shanks' territory yet. Shanks is asking for Dorry and Brogy to essentially protect the bar and make sure the fight doesn't cause too much collateral if it starts spreading out too far. The people throwing themselves at Shanks and talking about giving him tribute are his allied pirate crews, not Elbaf itself. Shanks even says they're setting sail anyway. The Kidd fight is just gonna be on their way out.
-
The bounty system is such an interesting piece of worldbuilding that was barely explored in the story. The fact that Cross Guild turned the game on it's head and started puting bounties on marines was genius, and I wish we could see some development of that. But we barely saw any bounty hunter at all... the only thing I can see are nations sick of the Celestial Dragons tribute capturing marines to use the bounty to pay for it. It ties with thr growth the Revolutionary Army has seen recently (with Sabo also being named an Emperor of sorts), working to dismantle the world order.
-
With Luffy, Black Beard and Shanks getting big ground breaking moments coming up I wonder what glorious escapades our savior Buggy and his cross guild will get into
-
All we need to see is one good bounty. Would be really cool if they captured Sengoku, Helmeppo, or some really recognizable marine.
-
Makes me wonder When Oda will start showing Marine bounties, I’m very interested in seeing what the Vice Admirals have for a range of bounties
Edit: what do you guys think Vice Admirals like Momonga, Onigumo, Doberman, Strawberry and Yamakaji will get? Around 200 million to 500 million?
-
@Shiebs I would prefer he did not and the marine bounties remained a cool abstract notion.
Official bounties never amounted to much story-wise: the sum is huge but there has been only the one bounty hunter and in 20 years we didn't even see a single bounty get redeemed.
On the pirate side, there would be zero credibility if Buggy offered the same kind of money as the World Government (especially when he last noted he is broke) and it would be even worse with an amount he can actually pay (wouldn't you scoff if an admiral had a bounty of 10 million?). I'd like to think they are only something the Cross Guild came up with to stirr up things and never intends to pay, so being shown actual numbers is only good as fuel for power-level discussions. -
Certainly curious what prompted Dorry and Brogy to end (or maybe just interrupt?) their duel. It reminds me a bit of Lola who in the Post-Ts Cover Story was in Water 7 and then during Capones' she had already made it to Dressrosa,
I know it's lot to ask of Oda to drop hints or even just plan out the story for every minor character 10 years in advance, but if he does it too often it could lead to a loss of trust into the story (what's the point in paying attention to a scene, if in the next scene the character is in a situation completely removed from the previous one?) Now, Lola might have just already explored Paradise and was already on her way back to the NW when passing through Water 7, and maybe it's the news of the Straw Hats reuniting that caused Dorry and Brogy to set sail for Elbaf because they wanted to be there when they reach it. Whatever the reason for Dorry and Brogy, I'm sure we'll learn about it.
But in general, with more moving pieces than at any other point in the story I hope we won't have too many characters appearing out of nowhere. The fact that we're seemingly getting regular updates on everyone leaves me hopeful though. -
Maybe Dorry and Brogy returned to Elbaf due to the emergence of Joyboy/Nika (who is probably an important figure to the giants) and the upcoming giant war(Ragnarök).
-
@cavendishsama 100% sure more time passes in the story than we're aware of.
-
Very interesting developments. I really hope for two things.
-
I hope BB doesn't destroy Law+Garp, stealing Laws power, and just gets stronger. At least he should get some major damage.
-
I hope Shanks+Kid turns out to be a WB vs Gold Roger thing, fighting for a week, partying together afterwards. I'd really hate seeing Red Hair losing to youngsters, which is highly probable in every Manga.

@ea77 It's less about time, more about foreshadowing/cause and effect. Ideally we don't see Lola chilling in Water 7, we see her on her ship with the caption Rolling Pirates - On their way back to the New World. Or something like that. So now we know, next time we see them, probably gonna be in the New World. Again, it's a small issue in those instances (if Dorry and Brogy is explained), but next time we see, I don't know, Dragon, I don't want him to be caught up in the Law vs Blackbeard fight.
Just keep dropping the key points of what characters are doing. The time is something to be mindful of too though, for example Blackbeard since Zou went: (likely) Fullalead - Baltigo - Fullalead - Amazon Lily - Random Island in the New World. That's a lot, but I don't think it's entirely implausible with the timeline we do have (I think Fullalead - Baltigo might actually be the trickiest one, and might only work if the two places are relatively close)
But with all of his moves, we knew ahead of time that he was moving and that's ultimately what's more important to me. -
@cavendishsama Perhaps they've got a shitton of eternal poses, so while the crew may need to stop and dock, the Emperors can just navigate whereever they want to.
-
It was interesting to think of the Blaclbeard pirates as separating into orchestrated groups. Ao Kiji and Laftite went to kidnap Pudding, Burgess was after Dressrosa and found out Baltigo. Teach went after Amazon Lilly. But as we saw they all can get together pretty quickly. The hardships os sailing in the Grand Line have been downplayed somewhat. I liked when we had islands like W7 who actually suffered because it was difficult sailing to other places, with monsters and pirates, before the invention of the sea train. I still find it baffling the all the kings in the world would regularly sail this very dangerous sea to meet up, not to mention the fact that newspapers get regularly delivered everywhere.
-
@ea77 I think every pirate crew worth their weight collects Eternal Poses as they travel, pointing both to locations they visited and whatever places they can find in the local markets. It’s strange we don’t see that happening.

-
@Shiebs
Just a heads-up, but Ch 1058 clarifies that Cross Guild bounties are being financed by underworld figures. So, I believe it works like this:- Some underworld bosses give Cross Guild money and in exchange Cross Guild helps their business
- Some underworld bosses issue bounties and Cross Guild publishes them at a small margin (and probably also send goons to collect whenever possible so their margin of gain gets wider)
-
@Deicide lol good to know, I just assumed it was Crocodile since we already saw him create Broques Works and almost take overthrow a kingdom with just good planning alone
The guys a genius
-
man it is cruel to hit us with a break chapter now
-
@trollatron786 to add salt to injury Oda is probably working on ch 1134 as we wait impatiently for 1077.
better get used to it mate. -
@hideoushorrendous him or ChatGPT bot?
-
Wow, I haven't colored manga in a long time. Here's Shanks. Tried to go with that copic marker look.
-
@cavendishsama In a way, their fight was already over at the end of the Little Garden arc, their weapons were completely destroyed after they used that "Hakoku sovereignty" move.
I suppose Oimo and Kashii somehow made their way to Little Garden to look for their captains and they all went back to Elbaf after that. Now I'm curious about the circumstances in which Shanks met Dorry and Broggy. It's safe to assume that it was on Little Garden, and I suppose that Shanks was very young at the time, he certainly wasn't a yonko yet.
It sounds like a nice story to write.
-
@Ryuga-san But the fight wasn't over cause we literally see them fighting post-timeskip.
Oimo and Kashi also said they are going back to Elbaf, respecting their captains duel. -
@cavendishsama True, but when we see them fighting post-timeskip, they weren't using any weapons.
They are both best friends and "rivals", they like to compete with each other, it's part of their nature, just like we like to compete with our friends on video games just to see who's the best for example..this is how I see their post-timeskip fight.Their weapons were worn out already and completely destroyed after the LG arc, I think that for them fighting without their beloved weapons wasn't just the same.
If I remember well, Oimo and Kashii used to think that their captains were dead, that's what the Marines told them and why they remained at Enies Lobby. I'd have to look for that specific scene, but I think they told Usopp that they were gonna look for their captains.
-
@Ryuga-san
The fact is, they continued fighting for more than 2 years. Now they've stopped, so we need an explanation. If Oda wanted the duel to end because they didn't have their weapons anymore, he could have done that, but he didn't.chapter 431. "If our captains are still dueling, we can't go near that island. We're gonna stay hear for a while before returning to Elbaf"
Next time we see them: Cover of 490. Oimo and Kashi return to Elbaf.

Just a small correction: the marines told them Dorry and Broggy were imprisoned in Impel Down. Oimo and Kashi made a deal to guard Enies Lobby for 50(?) years, in exchange for their captains' freedom.

Thanks! I had forgotten about this part

We need a clarification from Oda, yes. Even if Oimo and Kashii didn't go to Little Garden, it doesn't sound unrealistic to me that Dorry and Broggy decided to go back to Elbaf on their own.
Maybe they got bored and it was the right moment for them.
I guess we will have the answer when the straw hats go to Elbaf. -

Not sure if there's a better place to post this, but this is a hilarious deepfake One Piece argument that feels like half of the arguments on this forum:
-
Maybe they saw the news that Luffy has become an emperor and they were so happy that they decided to stop fighting
-
@andre hilarious indeed, thanks for sharing .

This was amazing, he perfectly captured debates between One Piece fans xD I hope the guy who made this will create sequels in the future lol. Funnily enough, I agreed with all three of them at different points of the argument(s).
It would probably fit better in the Official Wano thread though, since it's mostly focused on Wano stuff.

Good point. I'll go ahead and post it there as well. But yeah, a friend sent it to me and I thought it'd just be a silly gimmick. I ended up thoroughly entertained.

@andre T-T… Trump is right
