Ok guys this problem has been with me for 2 years and Im sick of it, heres the thing after a few hours my sound dies and I have to wake it back up with a AVI file with VituralDub or by logging off and logging back on, the AVI thing is now only working half of the time. I only know of the soundblaster driver and I repair, fix, and reload it multiple times but the problem remains. I really REALLY wanna have my sound be fixed and not have to worry or have a audio file playing 24/7 which now that is starting to not work.

PLEASE HELP! and spread this to other forums or give me another link to a forum.

My computer is a Dell Demison 2300 running Windows XP btw.

That's strange. Did you try a new soundcard? Or just borrow someone else's for a while and see if the problem persists. Did you try uninstalling all the sound-related software, ejecting the sound card in add/remove hardware, pull out and than put back in the sound card, and start over?

Your soundcard would be the one you plug your speakers, mic, etc. into. Just open the tower and you should be able to identify it that way. But if you by chance have a sound system that is built into your motherboard, then you can't remove it…but you can disable it and install a new card.

Try buying a new soundcard. Some of these old ones turn into crap after a couple years. I know that personally.

does the sound switch off in the middle of nothing or are you doing something? some emulators might coz problems to your soundcard (my amstrad emulator makes it not work for example)

If you're going to help someone help them! Don't post in the help section just to taunt at them.

Uh Dell, well I'm not saying its bad or anything its just that I have bad experiences with it. You sure its not your speakers that are bad? Is your soundcard in good condition?

Really, getting a new soundcard is the best way though.

Are you certain that the problem isn't your speakers, or the cable that connects your speakers?

Nope, my sound just dies off, usually IE is running in processes even tho I don't use it so I always end process on it so Im thinking that my sound problem "might" be related with it so Im gonna try keeping IE running.
