It think it will most likely be more since that requires 'just' 150 more chapters. Even though I believe the conflicts in the story will escalate massively this year, I doubt that's enough for Oda to finish it.

Among them, Elbaf and the final battle could be lengthy stretches of story. Oda's going to take 9 - 10 volumes for the last battle alone. There are so many characters, I think it's impossible not to take that much time. Oda always seems to underestimate - or just not account for the 'action' segments of his story when making estimates. He birdcage was deployed on Dressrosa something like 35 - 40 chapters in; and then the arc lasted another 5 - 6 volumes. The tea party started in chapter 860, but Straw Hats didn't leave Tottland for another 40 chapters. Usually, it's a little more than half the story arc is focused on the big action set pieces Oda sets up in the first half of the arc (Alabasta, Skypiea, W7/Enies Lobby, Dressrosa, Wano).
Once Oda gathers all the pieces for the big final battle to liberate the world, it probably won't resolve particularly quickly. I think just the big fight will last longer than many are expecting the entire series to last at this point. Because I just can't envision Oda exercising restraint at that point. It's his victory lap. He got to the end of the story and now he can dump out the entire toybox of characters to great a huge spectacle. I just can't imagine, particularly after he spent 80 - 90 chapters on Onigashima, that Oda will go for something quick or understated when the story reaches that point.
Oda has cut away a few times on Egghead - but all of those scenes could have also fit in between Wano and Egghead - but were also directly related to things revealed on Egghead. Law / Blackbeard's battle for example was shown as soon as Oda revealed in the cover story arc that Pudding was kidnapped. Which seems to be the only real reason for Oda to cut away to that scene after the Straw Hats arrived on Egghead. That and Oda already did a big BB scene on Amazon Lily, so maybe he wanted to space them out. The Kid scene sets up Elbaf, but importantly, the context for why he's going there was dependent on Shaka revealing Saul being alive and well on Elbaf (so we can put together that he's the man marked by flames). And the Vivi / Morgans scene seems to be narratively related to Egghead as Morgans somehow has intel on what's happening - and the manner in which he's already twisting the story directly impacts the Straw Hats.

Judging by the previously released map, we're more like in the middle of the second half. Egghead should just be the equivalent of Thriller Bark.
We actually have direct confirmation from chapter 1056 that they're in the first half of the New World.
Law picked the 'direct' route toward the end of the Grand Line, traveling North East from Wano.
Meanwhile, the Straw Hats traveled orthogonally to the end of the line in the south east direction.
If Wano were in the second half of the New Word, the end of the line would be in the South East direction rather than North East.

Like I mentioned, I presume Oda took Luffy’s battle and Momo’s rise to shogun as the main priorities, so he prob didn’t do more than what he did with the minks, namely Carrot, because of how that would have taken focus away from those two points. Any theoretical storyline or further details on Carrot’s feelings just couldn’t be placed there, simply because it wasn’t relevant enough.

Interesting. Out of curiosity, when could you see Luffy’s 10th person joining in such a way that that person would still feel like a meaningful part of the crew? In the last two years? In the last 10 volumes?
With 105 being an update to 25, maybe Oda is mirroring volumes, so than that would mean that there are 24 (or 25) volumes left, but that is a lot of chapters and the only proof for this theory is that volumes 26 i 104 have Luffy in the same spot and pose. With the first half of the story being 60 volumes, and 61 being the first volume of the second half, my bet is on there being 15 more volumes.

Would be interesting if Wano marked the 75% point, as opposed to 90% or 95%. I could see the last 10% dedicated to the final war.

If anywhere is going to be the final site, it's God Valley or Laugh Tale. Mariejois was the location of the Reverie arc so we don't need to go there really. We know the Straw Hats will return to some locations (like Fishman Island) but they can force Imu to come down rather than go up the Red Line.
Man, Blackbeard's color scheme are completely different from the one used in Pirate Warriors 4. I'm not surprised by that, I'm low key shocked I find both horrendous.
Spine has just Shanks with the weird red space above him, same as the original volume 25.

If Oda really pushes the 30th anniversary in 2027 is still doable but tight, and that's about 175 chapters, but a bit more than 15 volumes.
For years I've estimated around 120 volumes/1200 chapters, but then Wano went super duper long. So I think we're too deep for that now. Or 30th anniversary estimate and 175 chapters would put it closer to 125 volumes and 1250 chapters.
Assuming the vegapunk stuff wraps up soon, and that Elbaf and Laugh Tale are less than a year each...

If Elbaf is a short arc more akin to a 8 month, 25 chapter Drum arc, he can do it, if its a 2 year monster then no.
Also if for the 30th anniverary we're talking about stopping cold on July 2027, if all of 2027 counts, or if we count the anniversary starting then so it goes to July 2028. Depending on where you draw the line makes a difference of 35 chapters.
Of course Oda has never ever hit a deadline target so I think July 2027 is just super unlikely because even if thats his goal he'll still need a few more chapters from there. And they're not going to market "the final volume" until its actually done so its not like that's a concern.
Alleged first SBS leak
So Zoro has Shimotsuki Wano heritage like people wanted. That's nice. I guess none of this matters that much though seeing as how all of this wasn't relevant enough to bring up before Egghead.
I like the answer about the devil fruits. They're not a disease or injury so it's not in Chopper's wheelhouse to fix them, plus the bad precedent it would set to be able to medicate away the bad side effects of devil fruits. I'm sure I've written about the solution being to make everyone else laugh so the failed smile users don't stand out somewhere on the forum already.
The Zoro info is more or less in line with what's been speculated, but it's good to have it set in stone.
Okay, so Oda addressed that Tama is a Kurozumi, that Hiyori’s final line about burning was meant to address Orochi only, but leaves open the possibility of Kurozumi hatred in the future…
Given the discussions had here about that line When it came out, I’m glad Oda addressed the fact that discrimination might still exist on the Kurozumi, and that while Hiyori might have not meant the line to bear no ill will on the bloodline, it could still be interpreted like that for some of the folks out there.

So Yamato is there not just for Momo, but also for Tama, for crowd control when Wano citizens hold angry grudges against Tama due to lineage.

Because Oda said what he said, I'll have to see how many of the Wano citizens react to Tama and Yamato's backgrounds in the case more of them find out, because seeing as how Tama seems to be the only one aware of her Kurozumi lineage right now, the Wano citizens might not be fully aware of Yamato's Kaido lineage either. They might think her horns are fake like some of the Beasts Pirates had for all I know.
Again, I wouldn't have brought this up if Oda hadn't have said "I wonder how everyone present will react if they find out that Tama is from the Kurozumi Family?" Because that can def lend itself to an interesting storyline.

That's the thing though. Yamato has valued Oden for years, and no doubt values the citizens not just for being under Orochi and Kaido's tyranny, but because their Oden's people too.
So them, what would happen if the people Oden valued suddenly took a sour attitude towards Yamato for her background or whatever else, even if Yamato tried convincing them she has become Oden?
Wow, this was a great SBS. Lots of small details for hardcore fans but also a really good reply to the Kurozumi mess. I‘m super glad Zoro didn‘t turn out to be a Ryuma clone, his backstory is just some minor lore that gives him a connection to Wano. I‘d still have liked it more if he had been just some village orphan but it could have been much worse.

Welp, that's a fire SBS (similar to Cover Stories being more involved, maybe it's gonna be the case with SBS too from now on?). The Kurozumi stuff I wish we could've gotten in the main story, and I mean he's hinting that we'll get more from it, so let's see.

Also wanted to say the Tama hate would also be a rehash/parallel to Ace and his discrimination against him for being Roger’s kid. Again, it’s an avenue where stories could come be fleshed out, but it also seems like stories told before.
Plus, the SBS sounds like it’s just commenting how the world works like that. I don’t think given the real world parallels the situation would even be “solved” in a future story. It’s just something Tama would have to deal with, if fleshed out more.
Anyways, to talk about the SMILE situation, it would be a lot more tragic if that storyline was addressed at all post fight. Since it wasn’t though, it becomes a non-ending? It’s frustrating more that there’s no emotional resolution to it, good or bad. It’s just ignored outside of this SBS. That annoys me more than any other possible implications that ending has.

Yep, Oda framing it like that means that the Wano citizens all would never come to terms with Tama being Kurozumi and take peace with that, even though she had nothing to do with Orochi's tyranny, since reality can be cruel like that.
It would prob mean that Tama would leave Wano sooner to join Luffy though. I suspect she could only stand to live in Wano for so long knowing people there would hate her for that, even if Momo backed her up.
As for the Smiles, if Vegapunk is asked about it and we come to realize there's nothing even he can do about the Smiles, that's when I'll let it go.

I think the Wano citizens finding out Tama is Kurozumi is something that would be found out in time instead of before Egghead. It's a similar to case with Yamato the more people come to find out about her background too, and come to hate on her as well for that. Both characters will go through quite a bit while Luffy is gone I suspect.

Tackling Tama's identity and Hiyori's line head on is a pleasant surprise (and the reader's pretty sharp making a Koala/Hody comparison). I still think it could have been handled more tactfully inside the actual story, but the response screams 'we're coming back to this later' so I'll leave the final judgement for after that happens. And coming back bodes well for the handful of plot threads not covered in SBS as well.

It just makes me think that Oda had the priorities of Luffy's battle and Momo's position at the forefront in such a way that he was content with leaving everything else hanging to revisit. So long as he accomplishes his main priorities he started the arc with, then he won't worry about stuff he can just revisit later on. I wish things were different, but still understand why he did it that way.

Drake doesn't seem to have been asked about either, but then again, maybe Egghead will deal with that.
Also, Tama might have told Sukiyaki about the graves shortly after her parents died. But even now, I wonder if they're still there, and if Tama still goes to them.
