One Piece Volume 105 will release on March 3rd
Volume 105 Predictions/Discussion
-
-
Chapters 1056 to 1065 and "Adventure in the Land of Science" for the title?
Would love to see a cover similar to volume 83, showing off the futuristic environment with Luffy's group plus Bonney looking starstruck, but with Cross Guild featuring heavily at the start and Law and Blackbeard fighting toward the end, there's a few good options for characters and scenes.
A Vegaclone group shot is also an option, but I think it'd be cool to save that for the next volume, after the main body's been revealed.
-
I think a few volumes have taken on the title of the arc/country a few times. 1 of the chapters have to be the basis anyway. Might have to use 1061 then. If not, "Luffy's Dream" fits.
I think it might be Luffy, VP, and Chopper lifting off from 1066 with the Satellites placed somewhere. Oda is King Spoiler. In the case of Luffy's Dream, it's him and the reactions to his dream. I still have disdain for that moment.
Even if it stops at 1064, it has tons of options from Teach to Bonney, the Revolutionaries, and Seraphim.
-
I think we're going to get Luffy, Chopper, Jinbei and maybe Bonney in the middle as full body shots in their new outfits and then either a shot of the city layer of Egghead (kinda like the first Fishman Island volume) or it will be boxes with key characters around Luffy (specifically Coby, Hancock, Blackbeard, Law, Sabo and Dragon or Lucci (or Lilith if they want a Vegapunk there but I think they might save the Vegapunk's for the next volume cover when they can have all 7 of them).
-
Usually inter-arc stuff gets into covers, so I guess we will see a cover dedicated to miscelaneous things like Cross Guild, Blackbeard, Hancock, Sabo, maybe Law...
-
One Piece Volume 105 will have 200 pages (like Volume 102) so it will have 10 chapters (from 1,056 to 1,065)!!
-
OP Twitter usually drops the process for the cover about 2 weeks out. That is next Friday, so I expect it between now and then.
-
The Cover
Title: "Luffy's Dream"
-
Title is Luffy's Dream, from chapter 1060.
The callback to volume 25's cover is cute, but it wouldn't have been my first choice to represent the content of this volume. I wanted to see some Egghead stuff. Cross Guild at the very least.
-
Holy crap, that volume came out nearly 20 years ago. What an awesome throwback.
-
Oda just trolling Carrot fans at this point.
-
Lol, and think that a few months ago I even said that the volume 25 chapter featured all current emperors. Still didn't give it any deeper thoughts than that. Nice throwback, though the Carrot reminder hurts.
-
Funnily enough, the chapter this volume takes its title from also opens with a callback - it was the one with the updated "Be Happy" colour spread. It's flashbacks all the way down in this one.
-
@Captain-M the coloring actually looks worse in the newer one for some reason
-
Can’t wait for the endless speculation on Carrot after appearing on this cover lol
-
I got them side to side trying to see the Shanks difference. Nope, he's still bland and mysterious.
-
So, what were people saying about how Oda was trying to forget about Carrot?
-

It's at least indicative that Oda hasn't all of the sudden gained this desire to throw everything away from Wano and forget about it because "he was tired of it all" or something like that. If he wanted to forget everything, he wouldn't have reminded about Carrot there. lol
-
I'm pretty sure Carrot is there because it's the Year of the Rabbit, just like Sengoku's Goat was there, as it was the Year of the Goat then,

Oda also easily could have put Randolph there, except he didn't.
As if to say he's not wanting us to forget about Carrot either, as awkwardly handled as 1056 was, and possibly every other Wano plot point too.
-
@electricmastro Would it have been easy to put Randolph there? Thee rabbit Homie that hasn't made an appearance in more than 20 volumes and was barely relevant even then? Compared to the rabbit-themed character who actually appears in the volume?
Let's not forget that this volume starts from chapter 1056. It was going to be 20% Wano, plus the flashbacks after leaving, whether Oda wants to speed away from the arc or not.
I do think the zodiac argument is a little questionable though. Volume 25 came out three months before the year of the goat, despite what others are saying. It could be why Carrot was chosen over, say, Yamato this time. But it probably wasn't why the goat was chosen last time.
-
What I think is fun is Shanks having such a big position on the cover despite not making an in-story appearance in the volume. He's only, literally only, found in the Film Red colour spread for chapter 1065. And we aren't even totally sure if that's going to be in the volume yet, given how the last one was a surprise nine-chapter release.
-
That cover is great, both from a thematic and trolling perspective. The weird Carrot people are gonna obsess over it til the series ends.

Hey, I mean if Oda is going to go as far as to joke with putting Buggy, a goat, and Carrot on covers like that, then anything seems fair game at this point.
Not that it prob matters in the long-run, since I find it a joke in the first place to even think Yamato is in some competition with Carrot. I already figure how Yamato will play into bigger relevancy in Luffy's story, considering what happened, but as for Carrot, I'm honestly still not sure.

Randolph is an isignificant character from the first half of the arc that came before the huge slog that was Wano. He literally had his last appearance at least 150 chapters prior to the contents of this volume. Carrot, as dirty as Oda treated her, was still very much an active element of the arc and appeared in its epilogue. Just like Sengoku's goat appeared in the time frame of volume 25. I don't understand why one would go chose the least plausible explenation when the alternative makes perfect sense. Like seriously friggin' Randolph? I even forgot that thing existed until you brought it up.

He l put the goart on the cover because it a) appeared in the volume and b) it was the year of the goat back then. It's not rocket science. This doesn't compare to Randolph at all.
-
I see we are continuing the trend of Blackbeard and Shanks only appearing on volume covers together.

Yep, there's definitely a method to the madness there, and that's what I was getting that. If Oda was so uncaring, he wouldn't have put Carrot there, and yet he did. Even if it's just a Zodiac joke, I still get this strange feeling that Oda may have not have played Carrot as dirty as we think and instead cares about her enough not to leave her miserable for the rest of her life, despite the circumstances.

It's the year of the rabbit. Carrot is a rabbit that appeared recently. Sometimes a rose is just a rose.
But for shits and giggles, let's go with the notion that there is some deeper meaning to Carrot, what would it be? Will she become a crewmate? Will she take down an Emperor as ruler of the Minks? Is she Uranus? If any of these things is supposed to happen, they could happen without her being on the cover. Unless of course for almost two decades I'm following One Piece I've been doing it wrong and didn't get the memo, that every major future plot development get teased with a cryptic nothing burger on the volume covers.
That's it, we cracked the code guys. That seemingly insignificant mine worker on the cover of volume is Im, Joy Boy and Uranus in one person. He's a former Rocks Pirate and the reason Teach's pirate flag has three skulls. Nah mate, sometimes a rose is just a rose.

I'd suppose that Carrot will learn a better sense of responsibility since she was pretty carefree early on, but gradually got to care about more things outside of her own little bubble, and may realize the grander implications of how she may have to step up more, not just for Zunesha's sake, but for helping toward its Dawn.

Which is nothing that we wouldn't have assumed already. It's a natural course of action for her character arc that everybody with even a little commons sense could expect to happen. It's not something that needs to be hinted at, especially because this cover is doing a bad job at hinting at such a thing.

Well color me surprised. Thanks for clarifying this. I stand corrected on the goat front. Doesn't mean that I changed my mind an anything I said about this ridiculous discussion we're having about friggin' Randolph of all characters. Like how many people even remember that hare? That's it, bring back the character tournament and have Randolph participate. I want to see how for he can get.
-
So, Carrot is the GOAT, confirmed!
I don't know about year of goat/rabbit stuff, but to me it's clear what Carrot is doing there: it's a random minor character eating something while totally out of place, just like the goat in the original.
-
A wild Carrot appears!
It's like she's just there to forever remind you of how random and unsatisfaying her closure was.Typical cover for a volume in-between big arcs, aside from it being a throwback.
Thank god from Vol. 106 and onwards there won't be anything Wano related anymore -
Pandaman is totally going to replace miner guy in the shadow cover or whatever it's called
-
Ugh, the only coloring I care in this cover is Teach's. Well, next one shall bring all Vegapunks in their glory or extremely weird color schemes.
-
This really should have been the Volume 104 cover instead
-
I like how the only difference in Shanks design from vol. 25 is the change of Odas art-style. For better or for worse.
-

"In-between" sort of? The content of this volume is at least half Egghead. I would have expected at least a certain percentage of Egghead related representation on the cover. Also it kind of feels like "wasting" a cover to do a throwback like this, I dunno, maybe part of it is the fact that several people had already noticed "the thing" about the Vol 25 cover months ago and so I feel kind of disappointed personally. Expected something more creative and I'm also tired of seeing Nika on now 3 covers in a row.
Not to be too salty but I don't really like gimmick covers, as the 99-100-101 were. I'm fine with it for colorspreads but on covers it's not very interesting to me.

And assuming Oda is doing this for Carrot’s benefit, then I suppose we could assume the same for Yamato too, hap-hazard as it was. Think about it, out of the 1000+ characters he could have focused on or created, he singles out one who never talked about wanting to be leader before and one who had been repeatedly declaring to sail out of Onigashima. So I’m only inclined to think for now that these experiences may possibly lead to Carrot and Yamato rethinking what they want to do with their lives now that Kaido and Big Mom have been defeated.
-
A lot of the first few chapters in the volume are Yonko related. Even when Oda tries to get away from Yonko matters, he goes right back to Teach in the chapters. The cover does fit.
-
I was already expecting the cover to not show Wano (since Oda already rushed Hiyori's final scene on the previous cover even though it was in this volume) nor Egghead (if I'm not mistaken, most the Satellites are only revealed on the last chapter and the OG Vegapunk is not even in it. Have only Lilith and shark would be weird).
But I was expecting the Four Emperors to be only on the background and Sabo, Imu, the mysterious weapon, Hancock, S-Snake, S-Hawk, Teach, Cross Guild... any of those on the front. Weird to have a cover only for them when we had a dedicated color spread around the same part.106 is where my interest really is. I don't usually care for characters' colors, but I am really curious to see the Vegapunks. I am hoping they will be all color coded, each taking a rainbow color.
And Carrot there can only mean one logical thing: Sengoku's goat is Duke Genghisbaan turned full animal.
-
I wondered if he'd do a volume cover reflecting 25. Makes perfect sense to me.
-
I’m still expecting a cover story with Carrot at some point
And hopefully Pekoms makes a return then too, I miss that guy

Honestly mate, can you post anything here without it ultimately leading up to your liking of Yamato? Like I know you like the character and want her to join. But there has to be limits as to har far you can push the envelope here.
I know you will think I am bullying you, and sorry if you feel this way. But don't forget that already other members have brought this to your attention, meaning it's not something I bring up just to be mean. Maybe just maybe, there is a chance that you are really going a little overboard with this. Could you at least consider this to be a possibility?
If it helps you understand what I'm trying to say better, just imagine if every member here on this forum would turn every single topic no matter how unrelated into a discussion about their favorite character. It would be distracting as hell and utterly egotistic.
I get that you want to talk about Yamato. I get that you want Yamato to join. So much that back when Wano ended you made the same post in several threads. But maybe, just maybe the lack of replies you received means, that people just don't feel as enthusiastic engaging in the discussion as you do.
Sorry, if I went on a long ramble here. Again not trying to bully you. But I felt the need to say that it is a bit much. At least from where I stand. If you think I've been to harsh you're free to report me and/or block me.

To be fair, BekaDidAct became one of the GOATs of this forum for his devotion to Moria at the expense of any other topics. Also reminds me of shittymorph, the reddit poster who always tells long stories that end bringing up the time in 1998 when the undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcers table.

I wouldn't have brought Yamato up if Captain M hadn't of. If I do bring up a character, then I feel I'd have good reason to where it's relevant. If people are gonna judge me for what characters I bring up, then they could at least consider the wider context of why I bring them up in the first place.
Actually, I know I talk of other characters. So that fact that people approach me about "only talking about Yamato" when I factually don't might be indicative of what characters catch other peoples' attention. lol

@All-Fiction Because Oda doesn't dig his style anymore.
