On the run for a few days/months, whatever time is needed until the final war is over and the threat of the WG is gone.
After that, back to Sorbet I guess.

Even if Kuma is fully restored, I think there’s only so much he can do to protect Bonney from Government forces now that the priority of his and Bonney’s elimination has most likely gone way up after punching Saturn. That’s not even accounting for how long this final war will play out either.
Whatever happens, it seems that Bonney’s life is set to take a drastic change from this day and onwards. Big question is what people she’ll be spending that with though.
I wonder what Luffy will say to this kid after he arrives and meets him on Elbaf.
If we are getting a cabin boy, a giant cabin boy would be a neat spin on things. That kid seem too young though relatively compared to say how old Shanks and Buggy were when we saw them on Roger’s ship. He’ll probably be a focal in that arc though, no doubt.

Actually, if Oda would have anyone from Elbaf join the Straw Hats, it prob would be a kid giant, since adult giants are way too big for the Sunny.
@electricmastro even for a kid he’s already huge

I could see Franky modifying the ship a little bit to accommodate for a kid giant who'd join, as opposed to an adult giant.

lol I’m just messing around, just having some fun not being serious
I am interested in seeing what a king of the giants named Loki will have for a character design, will it be a badass design or a goofier villain design
In any case, the giant kid looks like a fun and excitable kid looking for adventure like how Yamato was. Hope he has fun with Luffy and the others.
I would imagine Oda would have factored in a final crew member in his Thousand Sunny redesign. If he had the idea of adding a Giant to the crew, he would have designed the ship to accommodate said character.
It would have to be a Giant that can alter their size but that feels rather dull since the anime already cashed-in on that in a filler arc. We’ll have to wait and see what new characters are introduced in Elbaf.

Well it could always be a kid that's as big as Brook. Maybe even slightly bigger.
That’s fine if the kid doesn’t grow anymore. It goes back to my point, why didn’t Oda factor that in when he was redesigning the ship? It’s not like Giants were a new concept back then. It makes more sense for Oda to design a character around what he already created.
A Giant character could be on the table, Oda just needs to be clever about it. That would be cool with the right devil fruit.

I'm def still on the hill that it's not too late for more people, and that it's only too late when the manga has ended.
A giant character, even a giant kid character who's skilled enough, would def be welcome if you ask me. After everything that has happened at Egghead so far, I've no doubt the hostilities against Luffy would only increase, so he'd need all the firepower he can get.

Isn't that kid just the obvious Vicky the Viking homage that was inevitable? The helmet is almost identical (but legally distinct)
I think there is time too, however I’ve given myself a hard cut off for the topic. After Elbaf, we’re most likely in last minute joining territory and I’m not interested in someone joining that way. It’s still possible, but to me it feels like an underwhelming conclusion to this discussion.

That’s totally fair. I’ve always thought to myself that I’d accept anyone who Luffy accepts as a crewmate no matter the time, but I also understand people who’d want to spend more time with that person.
So to make it fair on that end, I’ve given it a limit of two years of joining before the manga ends.
I presume that after the One Piece is found, there will be many chapters before the last chapter. If the last crewmate joins a year before Laugh Tale, and then spends another year with the crew after Laugh Tale, then that sounds fair enough, right?
I believe Elbaf is our last action/adventure arc so I would like to see a completed crew running around, doing SH things, one last time. After that, I think it will be all final war related and at that point I'm just not interested anymore. I'm not going to dislike the character or anything like that, I would just feel it's an unsatisfying conclusion to this long discussion. Oda may feel differently and that's fine. It's his story, he can write it however he wants.
That's my own feelings on the matter. If people want to ride this train all the way to the end, I don't see a problem with that.

Actually, seeing as how Egghead has played out, I imagine we’d get more arcs developing the Elders individually. It would be pretty awkward going into the final war with Saturn as the only Elder who’ve seen victimize some people personally, so I think a new person who’d help against them would be more than welcome.
So is Bonney more likely to become a Straw Hat now?
I don't think this really matters tbh (Kuma's fate will be the bigger decider becaue if he lives then she will 100% go with him). But, if Bonney does join then I can see Oda using this scene for her in the same way he does for Zoro declaring his loyalty, Brook playing the piano, Nami's I want to live, etc. It has that same 'big moment' energy placed on it.

Even if Kuma lives though, the fact that a slave punched an Elder might have consequences to the extent that it would be extremely difficult for them to live peacefully unless they're with a reputable group, and the Straw Hats might be their best bet at this point.

With Kuma's devil fruit power they can easily escape any situation tbh. And I feel like Oda would be more likely to place them and Vegapunk with the Revolutionary Army than have them tag along with the Straw Hats to Elbaf and beyond.

I think it's reasonable to suggest Bonney would at least go with them to Elbaf to find out more about the Sun God, given how interested Bonney is in the concept.
I'm still leaning towards no for Bonney. Oda still isn't moving her in that direction and right now Kuma has more boxes checked. It's not over yet so there is time to address certain things but her devil fruit and the fact that Kuma needs to die are big red flags for me.
If Kuma lives then none of this really matters because I don't see either one of them leaving the other behind. If anything these last few chapters have put me back on the side of Kuma will be saved. Big X-Men/Krakoa vibes happening right now.

Bonney possibly attaining the Ancient Robot, all 50 MK 3s, the Seraphim, Stussy, Sentomaru, and the satellites would be the ultimate nakama bundle in a single arc. Her squad would be more stacked than any other Supernova. It would be her, Buggy, and Shanks in the lead for Pirate King.
While Luffy and BB trail behind.
The hierarchy for Pacifista has gone through most of VP's current and former associates from Sentomaru to Stussy, Saturn, etc. Would be interesting if Bonney would be a surprise member of the hierarchy.
Mk 3s acquired

Given how Oda just had Bonney realize Luffy is the Nika Kuma and herself had been admiring, I'm thinking she'll be sticking around for a bit, and maybe learn more from the Giants about the Sun God in the process.
I believe all the Egghead related characters will be heading to Elbaf, though they might be hitching a ride with the Giants now.
Seems that Bonney is Luffy's disciple now.
If Caribou joins the Black Beard crew maybe there is a place for an apprentice pirate, which seeing how young Bonney is could make sense

Man it would be the one of the most vindicating things to have someone like Bonney tag along even if it's like Law. Neve too late to have more people tagging along and having fun with Luffy along the way!
Caribou/Blackbeard was one of the things I was waiting for, though I was under the assumption he was already a crew member. Him not being one and wanting to join I think is a better outcome for this discussion. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's a confirmation, but if the BB Pirates are still getting new members, I think it's a fair question to ask the same for the SHs. The downside I see is Caribou feels like someone Luffy would take down before the real fights begin factoring the story so far. York would be a bigger win as that feels like it could be a Robin opponent, after some powering up of course. Still time for that to happen.
Before this gains any traction, both Caribou and Bonney are overqualified to be apprentices. I don't see an apprentice happening until post story where Tama would be the perfect candidate. The one character that Luffy said they can join and has zero experience being a pirate.

I could def see Bonney hanging around a bit to learn more from Luffy as Oda’s way of powering her up more in time for the final war.
It’s gonna be interesting to see Bonney carrying on Luffy’s legacy in the form of emulating his attacks. She might be the closest to being Straw Hat apprentice in that regard.
I agree that Bonney will be sticking around for a minute, probably until there is a clear path back to the Revolutionaries with Kuma (possibly) and at least one of the Vegapunks.
Your second point, that sounds to me like an apprentice for Luffy specifically and not for the crew. If this was post story, I would be behind that idea 100%. As an apprentice for the crew? She is overqualified for that position as she has been a captain since before Sabaody.
I know there is overlap between crew members, but having Nika lite as the final one feels like a massive let down, to me at least. Oda likes his Nika so I won't rule out the possibility but based on what he has shown us so far, I'm still sitting on no. Give me a cool Elbaf character please. lol
I think the giant child was brought in as a reminder that kids have no place on a pirate crew. Being so much inspired by Shanks, Luffy would follow his role model, and have a similar crew: even if other pirates have kids on board, that’s not the adventure Shanks and Luffy want to have.
So I don’t see Bonney joining the crew. She needs to have a happy childhood, and be safe from the dangers, or traveling around with her dad (if Kuma is ever restored).

On the other hand, I could see it being more "realistic" for someone like Bonney to be a Straw Hat apprentice than Tama, since Bonney is a kid who's more able to fend for herself. You may call her overqualified, but her willingness to learn from Luffy is still there, isn't it?
Tama is training under Shinobu so if the time comes, Tama would still be a more realistic option. Carrot and Yamato were also more realistic options as being an Apprentice is about a lack of experience at the job, which is in this case would be traveling on the seas and working on a ship. We keep looking at Bonney's age and yet we are ignoring everything she has done up to this point. Bonney has years of experience of traveling on the seas and she was the captain of her own crew. I don't see her being an Apprentice as realistic.
Now if we're talking about Luffy taking up a Rayleigh-like role with Bonney, then no, I don't see that happening anytime soon. I also don't see any evidence that either one of them want to have that sort of relationship. That one panel doesn't give off that impression, at least not to me.

Carrot I’m not sure, but Yamato I see more in a bodyguard/rearguard role, since she now has now out upon herself in a guardian responsibility she never had before. So I think it would make sense she’d back the Straw Hats up in a similar manner by the time she actually matures.
And yes, Bonney has traveled before, but she hadn’t been trained in Nika moves before then though, not until Egghead. So if Bonney ended up traveling with Luffy for some time to learn more Nika moves, I’d find that acceptable.
If that's how you view Yamato, that's fine but that isn't the point I was making. The point is we have had characters in the story that make way more sense for the Apprentice role (3 in the last arc alone) and yet we are trying to justify that someone who was the captain of her own crew somehow makes more sense. It doesn't. I think it's pretty clear Oda has no intention of adding an Apprentice to the crew before the story ends. There is nothing to support the idea that Luffy will be taking a Rayleigh role with Bonney either. That's a big leap from one panel.
That's all I have to say on the subject. I've made plenty of posts at this point saying how Bonney was never designed to be a crew member. The fact that she was a last minute addition along with the rest of Worst Gen should be a red flag in itself and looking at characters like Law and Kidd, there's simply no excuse for how underdeveloped Bonney is on a SH level.
I mean, she can take any form thanks to the power of her DF and her imagination and yet she doesn't have a unique one, just Buccaneer and Nika. That says it all right there.

I’m not trying to push aside the fact that she’s captain, only emphasizing her desire to learn from Nika. If she’d stick around Luffy like how Zoro stuck around Mihawk, then I guess we’d have to use a word different from apprentice then.
It also doesn’t matter when Bonney was developed. Vivi was developed later, at first being conceived as just another enemy. And yet she’s considered Straw Hat just as much as anyone else even if she’s not traveling with them right now. You get what I’m saying, right?
Also, you have got to stop taking everything I say as if I’m trying to make the biggest jump in the history of the world. This is just fun speculation after all, not do or dies on a hill. lol
When I said, "big leap," that's not a slight against you personally. This is a discussion thread and I'm merely having a discussion with you. There is nothing more to it than that. I like reading your posts and talking nakama shop with you. Please don't view it anymore than that.
In any case, I look forward to more Bonney interactions with her newfound Nika. I’m pretty happy Bonney is starting to be in a better place now, or is at least getting there, so I’ll focus on that feeling.

Though it's made apparent how Bonney was never actually a princess like how Vivi and Rebecca were. Would have been interesting to see a more "tomboyish princess" like her eating all sloppy in a grand royal dining hall, but ah well.

??? No, Bonney was literally a princess, in the sense that Kuma was king of Sorbet. Much more than Rebecca, whose mother abdicated before she was born and also never lived in the palace.
But I liked your idea of Bonney being tomboyish in the palace. At least we saw her doing that in a church, which was fun
Being a “princess” of an arc does not require being an actual princess.
The big question is will Caribou count as a main member of the Black Beard Pirates
I think he’ll be the equivalent of Rockstar from Shanks crew, (who’s shown alongside the commanders a lot) and since they’ll both be parallels to each other there’s a possibility that the Straw Hats will have one to
I’m still set on Caribou vs Rockstar when the Black Beard Pirates face off against the Red Hair Pirates
I don’t know who the straw hat member that will join will be who’ll be facing off against Caribou or if we have even met them yet
@Shiebs I'd say Caribou would count if he becomes the 11th Captain, but I doubt he will get such a title. He's probably going to be Blackbeard's official boot-licker.
