It can be a struggle massaging these shonen-cool titles into something a human being would actually say sometimes.

Title: "Conclusion! Luffy's Supreme Lightning-Fast Fist"

      Episode Director: Ryosuke Tanaka
Animation Director: Yong-ce Tu + Masahiro Kitazaki + Hirotaka Ito

It sounds like this will be a surprisingly big episode, mainly covering the skipped parts of Luffy's fight.

Great episode tonight. I really like all the different type of animation that used through the episode. For example, when Big Mom pretty much Wind Scar to defeat Ulti. Also the stuff with Luffy and Kaido was great as well. Seriously, this was a great episode.

After 1031 and the previous few stunner episodes I had been expecting another cooldown period so this episode coming out of nowhere, relatively speaking, was quite a pleasant surprise. Oftentimes when the anime tries to expand on fights or otherwise build them from the ground up we get some odd ideas where the intention is good but the execution isn't quite there so I appreciated how they kept the Luffy vs. Kaido parts relatively simple and grounded this time by sticking to a straightforward, weighty slugfest which Chansard, Maenami, Tu, and especially Ota all did a great job on (and all the other animators who contributed whose names I don't know off the top of my head), You just know the staff popped some bubbly when Kaido reverted back to his human form though, lol.

With this being his third appearance I guess this solidifies Akihiro Ota sticking around for the time being which is a huge, huge get for the show. The veery loose, blobby, Shinya Okira-esque style he's been using in Onigashima is so different from his earlier cuts in Dressrosa, the movies, and his last TV project World Trigger. I can't stress enough how glad I am that 2020s One Piece is less conservative and not afraid to let the animators deviate from the norm and showcase their personal touches like that. In time past you'd only see that kind of heavy deviance from Naoki Tate's episodes.

I thought it would've been funny if Yu Mizushima voiced Hera as well in an exaggerated falsetto to complete the Homie set but I guess five characters in the same arc would've been too much! It feels like it's been years since I've heard Yumi Kakazu in anything.

Just read that Toei might be toning down on the aura going forward. If that is true, i'm appreciative.

It took them long enough. I've hated that nasty syrup goop since Zoro vs Killer. Some say it's in Super, but I don't pay attention to that nonsense. It's a spit in the face to Dragon Ball's legacy. Every game after the Budokai series. Every film starting with that Purple Cat is just bad. I hate Xenowhatever, Fighterz, Raging, Kakarot.

Anyway, good on Toei getting rid of that crappy aura.

The animation in this episode was absolutely amazing.

I forgot just how much of a Badass Ulti was. She actually challenges Big Mom and threatens to beat her face in.

I kind of wish we saw that fight. I also wish we could have seen Ussop and Nami take down this sibling duo.

This episode actually made me understand why Kaidou took on Luffy's final attack head on.
He was finally going up against something stronger than himself. A god. And he wasn't about to backdown.

HOW COME LUFFY NEVER KILLS AN ENEMY?

ODA:ITS BECAUSE IN THAT ERA EVERYONE USES THEIR LIVES TO FIGHT FOR THEIR DREAMS. FOR AN ENEMY WHEN THEIR DREAM HAS BEEN SHATTERED,IT IS AS PAINFUL AS DEATH,I BELIEVE FOR A PIRATE NOT TO KILL AN ENEMY , IT'S GIVING THEM A SECOND CHANCE TO FIGHT FOR THEIR DREAMS.

It was a joy to watch this episode, really well animated. I was taken by surprise when I saw anime only watchers arguying if Kaido was hallucinating the final bit of the episode; as if he was so berserked that he didn't realized that Luffy was already off-staged by the time of his last kanabo swing. I didn't get that from the episode, but it's an interesting take to have lol

Rewatching this part reminds me of how good of a narrative twist would have been to make the raid fail.

I'm still reliving that, frankly, if not for Big Mom knocking out Ulti here this exchange between Ulti and Nami could have been a lot cooler. In the last episode Nami stepping up for a fight was great, but to have Big Mom bail her out is just devastating. But, that's a complain from way back in the manga so I'll say now...it was animated well? This entire arc has more or less elevated the original material.

Doesn't she end up landing the final blow of Ulti anyways? Ulti just gets damaged from BM, which frankly makes it more believable that Nami could beat her. No way Nami can beat a zoan-type Yonkou general at 100%, and that's fine.

If Ulti needs to be weakned for Nami to beat her, than Oda should have made Nami stronger or Ulti weaker, or delete Ulti as a character at all. A fight between a main character and an injured antagonist is pointless. It robs both sides their chance at a spot light.

Disagree wholeheartedly there. You sound like you want a very simplistic powerscaled fight. I like how Oda changes the dynamics; there’s more complexity this way.
