I was feeling nostalgic and thought I'd paddle my way on over here. Any active K-F forum users still active on here?

I used to be an active poster there, back from around 2004-2007 maybe?

Kaizoku-Fansubs, that takes me back. I wasn't on the forum, but I loved their subbing. Pity life got in the way and they had to stop.

I think it was more that over time people slowly realized that subbing the same episodes Funimation had already released was becoming increasingly pointless.
A lot of KF's drive came from the knowledge that 4Kids was ruining the series and if we didn't do it, no one else was going to sub it because of the unspoken "fansubbers code" that dictated that all groups should drop a series as soon as it gets licensed.
Over time more and more groups started ignoring that rule, and by the time of our final release a number of other subbers were doing One Piece releases. There was an internal push for us to start subbing newer episodes, but the majority of the staff were against that and with the then-latest episodes being increasingly dragged out people would have gotten bored and dropped off fast.

…no, it was pretty much just people getting busy with life. My job got a lot more demanding and it was getting harder and harder to coordinate the staff, plus we were down to a very small core group even including QC. It was at the point where spawk and I were basically doing the entire process alone, except for timing. I mean I'm sure it also felt less meaningful when we got passed by Funi, but that only happened because releases got so infrequent. At our prime (at least during my involvement), we were on a ferocious pace and actually catching up to latest episodes.

Hey, RoronoaZorosan I remember that avatar…
I was an quite an active k-f forum poster back in my early teenage years... must've joined up around 2002-2004 ish...?
Never spent a single second on the IRC channel... still not quite sure what an IRC channel is...Ah... the internet was a simplier thing back then... good old days... I'm surprised I've been a member of AP since 2016? I must've been reminiscing when I signed up here...
Where's that canadian chick at...? There was also this crazy loudmouth guy I forgot the name of...
My trademark was that I always ended every sentence with three dots... what's up Foolio!
