Wait are BM and WB the same age? I never picked up on that. I thought she was somewhere betwenn baby of the group Kaido and grandpa Whitebeard.
Guess booze is worse for your health than sugar.

According to One Piece Wiki, which I assume got their information from some SBS, Whitebeard died at age 72, while Big Mom is currently 68. So they are only 6 years apart, which really isn't that much of a difference. Kudos to Big Mom, despite an equally unhealthy lifestyle, she really does appear to be pretty fit still.
Well age wasn't as much of a contributing factor to WB as his unspecified health problems were.
Still looked pretty fit for an old man.
And BM also looked more wrinkly when she got thinner during sweets craze.
I still can't get over my head that at one point in her life Big Mom was actually gorgeous.
It was to be expected. It's Oda.
So what do you guys think about God Valley?
In my opinion, I think God Valley is the island that the Road Poneglyphs point to.
IIRC, the road poneglyphs point to an island that has a clue that leads to Laugh tale, right?
So I'm guessing that's the island where we will have the spiritual rematch between Roger and Rocks, in Luffy and Teach.

I think the mega stones are supposed to lead you to Laughtale. But there's an island at the end of the log post that tells you that you need the road stones.
A twist could be that God valley is Laughtale where the government secrets are buried and only Roger managed to find it back after they made it disappear somehow.
Luffy's Marine rival will be any of the Admirals…either Fujitora or Akainu. You know either Luffy or Sabo will face off against Akainu in a grudge match for what he did to Ace.
I don't know, I genuinely believe Luffy will never fight Akainu with the goal to avenge him.
I have a couple of reasons.
1. Both Luffy and Ace understood that their lives were on the line as pirates. So death was always an expected part of it, especially in Luffy's case where he has faced death head on with a smile. So I don't see Luffy going around looking to avenge Ace's death. Heck even as kids, they accepted Sabo's death and moved on.
2. Akainu, never really did anything that would cause someone like Luffy to seek vengence. He was more or less just doing his job. Unlike other characters, like Arlong and Spandam who actively trampled on his friends dream. Akainu simply goaded Ace a little. And we know that Luffy really doesn't mind when an opponent cheats, like he said when fighting Katakuri.
3. I have a feeling that Akainu might be redeemed. Especially with the hint that he's connected to the Sword initiative and could be its leader(I even think their fight at Punk Hazard was to determine who would go undercover and who would stay at HQ, and it wasn't for the fleet admiral role.). Now that we know Teach is related to Rocks, it makes sense that Kuzan would go undercover there.

Sure?
Let me go check real quick and I'll come back with an edit.

The Road Poneglyphs doesn't point to islands where you get clues about how to find Laugh Tale. Instead, the Road Poneglyphs give you the coordinates of four locations, then you have to do some basic geometry to find the point of intersection of those four location, and this central point is Laftel.

Yup you guys are right.
I just thought it was a weird coincidence that both LaughTale and God Valley are islands that are lost and can't be found on a map.
So maybe the last Road Poneglyph will be at God Valley. instead of being with Shanks like we all assumed, since we know where the other 3 are located. And it would make sense why the Emperors never want to war against each other for them, its because they couldn't find location for the last one.
Anyway, I really hope we see it outside of flashback.
I also think it is possible that God Valley became either Baltigo or Punk Hazard.
Baltigo was so super secret that apparently nobody could find it. Dragon, who is Garp's son and detests the Celestial Dragons, choose it as its hideout. Blackbeard, who seems to have a connection with Rocks, was very eager to attack it and their raid on it didn't really have any other effect on the story yet. Also, apparently Cipher Pol seized it afterwards.
Punk Hazard was a secret island for Marines and the Government, which not even the Log Pose would point to. There are still some unexplained things about the place, i.e. the giant skeletons or the frozen people in the lab. The Celestial Dragon's also had some connections to the island as it was mentioned that Dragon Nr. 13 was named by one of them.
Or it's just the island before Raftel.
Even if Oda was so inclined there is no way to make Akainu not a monster.
Some children can't be unmurdered.
God Valley is the "monster" hidden in the mist of the Florian Triangle. :ninja:
Even if Oda was so inclined there is no way to make Akainu not a monster.

True. Sakazuki has done alot of unforgiveable things.
But Caeser Clown was the same and he's more or less been redeemed in the story now. So was Crocodile in a way.

I don't think it was Baltigo, otherwise Teach would have either attacked it himself, or permanently setup shop there, instead of the beehive.
I also don't think it was Punk Hazard, because like you said, common Marines and scientists had access to it, and from what we know of the WG, when they decide to wipe something out, they make sure its completely wiped out.
I think the last Road Glyph is there and Teach and Luffy will fight to see who gets to take it in the end, effectively making the winner the Pirate King, since they will have access to Laugh Tale.

Oh i see what you mean. I wouldn't call those guys redeemed in any meaningful way. But i see what you are hoping for.
If Mihawks title turns out to be like that a sizable chunk of this board will need theraphy for post-traumatic stress
And at this point they would be the only one to blame for it.
Back in 2005/07 I fully understood the hype around Mihawk, despite there being not much to rely on. We knew little about the world, just like the protagonists, and so he acted as this insanely strong figure representing the top.
But as the years passed Oda kept removing block after block of Mihawk's Jenga tower of hype, to the point that it's about to collapse. And the current chapter just removed another important block, if not the most important.
!

Yeah, I would say Mihawk is on the level of the Rayleighs and Katakuris of the world. Strong enough to take on most threats. Even an admiral BUT not strong enough to single handedly destroy entire islands like Emperors(who are basically the embodiment of natural disasters, at least Teach, Kaidou and Big Mom are)
In my opinion, God Valley belonged to the Tenryuubito, a place very special to them for historic or symbolic/religious reasons. I doubt the last Road Poneglyph is there.
Btw, someone I know recently made a theory that the lyrics of Binks no Sake is the last Road Poneglyph (even if the respective stone was also printed). The idea is based on the new romanization of Laftel as "Laugh Tale", because the song uses the japanese word "warainabashi", which is synonymous to "laugh tale" (a fun/funny story), therefore the lyrics could be secretly referring to the island.
Well, I know nothing of japanese, so I don't know if the japanese lyrics could have other puns that help this theory… but oh boy, that would be pretty romantic! The will of the D. passed down across the generations inspiring exactly what they preach: to have a free spirit, and thus the song helps its fans to find Laugh Tale.

Rayleigh? If he helped Roger defeat Rocks pirates he must have defeated a few would-be yonkous that are around in the story now.
Hmm. I wonder if Roger was even a "pirate" back then, when he fought alongside Garp.

That's a good point. But that was the emperors before they hit their prime.
So its like how we all expect Zoro/Sanji to beat King/Queen.

Oh sure its easy to beat up a bunch of 30 year olds who are still growing. Come back and face them when they are 60+ like a real man would do. Bah beating up non-senior citizens and expecting it to count? This is crazy talk i tell you

Brook said he remembered a rookie named Roger back then, and that was like 50 years ago. He also was young when he met Rayleigh.

That's what I mentally prepare and settle for as well. Comparable to Katakuri / King / Marco / Beckmann, which is still massive in the grand scheme of things.
His bounty reveal will be interesting. I could see it at a lower level compared to the above, since he was progressively painted as "good guy" as we moved on from East Blue….
...but on the other hand, he's still the character with the highest confirmed kill count in the series, at minimum 4900. And he killed all these men for no good reason. Kind of crazy when you think about it.

I get where he was coming from on that one.
I too hate being woken from my naps

Oh cool! I can subscribe to that! After Brook was introduced Oda did mention that Bink's Sake would become important to the story later on. Would be really cool if that was a significant element in finding One Piece.

Wait, what ?
I was hoping that we could pick out one of LinLin's children born around the time of the God's Valley incident to be someone stand-out strong that she gained out of joining the crew. Doesn't look like it though. If LinLin was 30 at that time, means that was the year of Mont-Bookman's birth (30th kid too), Smoothie's still 3 years away, Brulee was 5, Cracker 7, Katakuri 10, and Pero 12. Guess she just joined to be with other monsters like herself. I guess we don't have full confirmation of how long the Rocks Pirates were together yet, but was assuming it wasn't "years" together.
38 years ago really doesn't feel like that long ago. Not with how many characters we know were at least children at the time. The government can cover up what they want, but shouldn't there still have been stories told and passed around of the strongest, most dangerous crew before Roger became PK?
Wait, what ?
Been searching for some time and nothings come up. But I'm certain at the end of some interview or question corner Oda brought up the idea that Binks Sake would be important in the future. Still looking though. If someone knows what I think I'm talking about please chime in.

Well Kaido is a pretty big lush and they did 'defeat' Big Mom with a cake, so maybe some special Bink's Sake will be how they take him down, putting him to sleep or something.
With all the teasing Vegapunks weapon better be incredible.
I assume we won't get to see it for another few years tho
I always thought it could just be the Pacifistas fed with various dragon artificial DFs (like Momo). So there would be some very tough flying dragons hovering above shooting the ground with exploding laser. We know that Vegapunk is breeding dragons in Punk Hazard. He must have fascination with them.

Here it is, from the author comments of WSJ issue #18 of 2009.
I´ll go and say Xebec was the previous user of the Gomu Gomu, just cause.
Could Rocks of left a treasure behind like Roger? I'm starting to think BB might know everything about the Void century and his ultimate goal is to replace Imu.
I´ll go and say Xebec was the previous user of the Gomu Gomu, just cause.
Not BB's yami yami no mi? Well, I guess too much of a coincidence and too less reaction of WB to BB's powers.

its way funnier if you picture Xebec with the Gomu Gomu and Roger with the Yami Yami.
If Mihawks title turns out to be like that a sizable chunk of this board will need theraphy for post-traumatic stress
Well sure he also did that. But lets focus on the oldtimer doing stuff oldies shouldn't be capable of pulling off.
Well, the summary of the Ace novel kind of suggested that actually, with people theoretizing who actually might be the strongest, who has the greatest skill and whatnot.
And the fact that Mihawk had the title, then fought Shanks, who was not a Yonkou yet, but still could not beat him, already kind of makes the title non-absolute, since at that point at least one was as strong as him.
So yeah, these titles seem to end up being more about hype than anything else.
I really don't like the idea that Zoros dedication was based on a false assumption all way long… Sure, foremost he wants to become strongest swordsman, which is not directly tied to Mihawk, but they've been presented as antagonists first and later as student/master and i would feel like Zoro would've been cheated if there is not much more than the title going on with Mihawk...
The focus was the title from the beginning, it was never something specific to Mihawk, and the antagonistic role between the two is only based on said title, and nothing beyond that.
I'd almost want to be true just based on the chaos it'd cause.
Let someone else but me get something to whine about y'know.
It's a shame Orojackson didn't make it to this chapter because there certainly would have been a 200 pages long argument about Mihawk power-scaling.
I'd almost want to be true just based on the chaos it'd cause.

Imo it´s inevitable anyway that one way or the other, someone else (right most prominently Shiryuu) is going to take the title, a serious fight with everythign on the line between Mihawk and Zoro is pretty much as unlikely as a fight between Shanks and Luffy.
I'm pretty sure there's a scene of Mihawk promising Zoro he will wait for him at top until he is strong. So it would be quite strange if he was always a fraud.
How is he a fraud if the title is something other people call him? He would be as much as a fraud as Whitebeard who literally admitted he is not the strongest anymore.
How is he a fraud if the title is something other people call him?
If he is believed to be the strongest swordsman but isn't. I think not being what people think you are make is what makes you a fraud.
How do you define a fraud?
Anyway my point is that is it would be strange if he was never the best since he claimed he would stay the best until Zoro was good enough to face him. Also it would make his boredom and search for challenge strange. And he also commented on Zoro bending in front of his goal for his captain.
The whole Mihawk was never the best would be strange. At worst he should have recently lost it. But if it's the case I'm of the opinion it shouldn't be in his narrative box anymore because they shouldn't be unreliable info. I would also find it annoying if Kaido lost 10 times instead of 7 for example.

I have a strong distate for contradicting information you already gave to readers as truth.
I wonder how many times someone like Garp or Roger refused to fight Big Mom because she was pregnant.

Mihawk vs Zoro has been set up since the beginning of the manga. It will happen. There is no swordsman out there that exists currently that is on his level, especially not Shiryuu.
How is he a fraud if the title is something other people call him? He would be as much as a fraud as Whitebeard who literally admitted he is not the strongest anymore.
He didn't say he wasn't the strongest. Just that he could be the strongest forever.
Mihawk is the world's strongest swordsman because Oda who created this manga gave him that title.
Why would Shiryu fight Mihawk though ? Also, we already have BB and Van Augur who are gonna kill Shanks and Yassop. 3 vendetta scenario at once would be too much
