I very much hope Zoro didn't become the best off-panel.
Chapter 956: BIG NEWS
-
-
Oh, whatever the case is, that won't happen.
Even if Zoro did beat him in the two years it won't just be off-panel. Dunno why some ppl assume something happening in the past means it will be off-panel with a series grounded in flashbacks like One Piece.

On a side note, has Wano really been this dull ? After the Viz/Mangaplus switch we've had 5-so pages official threads for months, then with just one chapter of vague not-news we're suddenly back to 23.
It's striking how people here (myself included) are so much more interested in world development than in the ongoing arc. I haven't been itching to read and discuss so much for quite a while. -
I think Wano is special in that way that it's exposition was relatively slow paced with very little mysteries. We've known most of the cast, their plans and so on. So there wasn't very much to discuss. This chapter alone had four major mysterious plotlines (death, assassination, sabo, wapols information) and only one revelation (warlords).
-
Wano is long, awkwardly paced at times and there's a lot new characters we haven't had time to spend time with and start liking.
Compare that to a bomb chapter like this, showing well known and established characters as part of a bigger picture and all these unanswered questions as fuel for long running or new theories.
-
Moriah is already on their hit list, just like every other pirate in the world. He has an active bounty and everything. They're basically doing the same with the current warlords as they did with him back then.
Well they at least gave these guys more of a heads-up than Moria got. Giving them even a slight chance (or incentive) of banding together was not a good idea, and anything short of a Buster Call against each of them individually probably won't accomplish anything. Don't they have enough CP9 or CP0 assassins to do it covertly? Most of them are already strong enough to rival most of the Vice Admirals so if the Marines don't have enough actual strong individuals to deal with the Shichibukai on their own, it doesn't seem like a good idea to just start going after them like this, totally half-cocked. If we saw actual Admirals going to deal with them that's one thing, but I don't think we got any hint of that. Plus with a Yonkou alliance now forming, they couldn't have picked a worse time to not only expend valuable resources eliminating the Shichibukai, but pissing off an alienating them right when they'll be needed most, AND risking them joining and strengthening those Yonkou alliances. I can no longer say that it's impossible for the Marines to be any dumber, there is literally no bottom to how stupid they can behave.
Also, did Shanks' visit not help keep this from happening, or was that not the point of his going to Reverie? If he wanted to weaken the Marines' forces and helped tip the scales towards Fujitora's alleged goal of eliminating the Shichibukai, I guess mission accomplished. It's hard to understand his motives or methods when he does really impressive and surprising things.

That they have the new weapon should adequately cover all your worries.

Now that you mention Shanks' warning to Gorosei…
If he really did warn them about BB, whatever he has now decided to go and get might actually be a trap devised specifically for him.
Idk, just throwing it out there.

It could be.
Maybe the Warlord man-hunt is just a smoke-screen and that's why they seem under-staffed, while the top guys are actually preparing to catch a bigger fish.
Teach trying to take advantage of the chaos is something you'd expect him to do, and if they have Kuzan snitching on him then, well…
Plus, having Blackbeard clash with the marines the very same day Luffy's alliance confronts Kaido and Big Mom sounds like something Oda would do.

Can we expect the chapter tomorrow?
I only ask cause the spoilers are out now and I'm doing my best not to read any of them

Some people expressed regret that they visited the spoiler thread this time. Some didn't.
I can't tell you when the chapter will be released, but maybe you want to stay strong a little longer.

I typically read just the first sentence of the spoilers to sate my appetite, but keep me a little hungry.
I can say this.
I will be reading the first scans that go up instead of waiting for Viz this week.

The community as a whole hasn't really switched over to waiting for the official release and are getting through all their talking in the spoiler sections now, when it used to turn into the main thread sooner. As a result the spoiler threads go longer and the official threads are shorter. Chapter discussions used to be about the same length as teh spoiler threads are now.
Kinda disappointing but it is what it is.
956 in particular was big stuff about old characters and the official chapter came out a bit quicker, so of course its getting more traction that usual, its a huge world shaking chapter. Go back and check the other "whats going on in the world" chapters than they've almost always been longer than normal, because Oda throws out a lot of new juicy thigns to discuss and pushes the main plot further along…
957 is STILL in spoiler territory.

Lots of conversation is happening in the spoiler thread and I imagine some people don't want to move it over here.

Hey! Dude, are you…personally affected by my opinion on a comic character? I'm sorry if that hurts you, should I...stop voicing my opinion?
If it causes you physical pain maybe I'll consider how I word things but, I'm not out for you or anyone. I'm also pretty sure I add plenty of conditionals.
Anyway, you're leaving a lot of important info out.
First, we still don't know what happened during those two years.
Second, I was pretty sure I specifically said, whether the Warlords get captured or not completely depends on whether or not the Marines are utilizing their new whatever it is from Vegapunk. I didn't suggest that the crew assembled there would topple him. That seems like something you wanted to hear me suggest because I've hurt you in the past with opinions on a manga character.
That would make as much sense as Shanks being captured like that and sent to prison. Mihawk is to Zoro what Shanks is to Luffy. He is far too important to the story to be done in like that.
And anyhow, I'm pretty sure Fujitora was saying they don't NEED the Warlords, not that they were going to take them down. It took time to arrive from VP's lab to Mariejois. There is no time between the decision was made to bring whatever VP was working on to attack the Warlords with it.
That seems like something you wanted to hear me suggest because I've hurt you in the past with opinions on a manga character.
No, it's just laughable seeing you and other downplaying Warlords, who are 1/3 of the World Powers along with the Admirals and Yonkos. Mihawk is stronger than Shanks. He won't be done in by randos.
Oda himself called him a legend with Whitebeard, Shanks in an SBS.

I don't think it was Teach this time

Who do you think it was?
Shanks: You must overthink your decision to get rid of the Warlords!
Gorbachev-Gorosei: Why should we?
Shanks: That man! Hawk Eyes!
Gorosei: What's with him?
Shanks: That man is Yonkou level.
Gorosei: What??
Shanks: Yonkou level!!! Like me!
Gorosei: !!!!!! -

-
Who do you think it was?
Rox captain or someone that was heavily influenced by him. There was a sense of mystique when Shanks mentioned "that pirate" and I don't think it would be done in that matter, if it was Teach. If it is Teach, I question why it was done that way
Kind of off topic, but would it be repetitive if Oda had another pirate infiltrate the Marines like Vergo did?
-
Man, all I want to know about the new chapter is if it’s releasing early—Thursday.
-
Probably not. The spoilers are still very minimal. Only a couple things the leaker decided to say early. No summary or images. Scans will probably come out on Friday as usual.
-
Can we expect the chapter tomorrow?

Man, all I want to know about the new chapter is if it’s releasing early—Thursday.
Shueisha's usually been accurate when announcing the time they upload the chapter. Their message is "New chapter arrives on Sunday, Sep 29, 13:00[at least PDT for me?]". So the usual time it gets uploaded.
-
You're not accounting for the spoiler thread.
I am well aware of the separate spoilers/scans vs official release discussions, but even the spoilers thread took quite a swell. 956 reached a whooping 43 pages, that's twice what we get most weeks, and 957 (which I have not read) should be in the same vein seeing how it's already at 30 pages with spoils alone.
I guess it does come down to big "what's up with the world" stuff, and characters we've had time to get to know, versus the -usually slower- pace of running arcs that offer less topics to discuss. Either way I'm hyped for what's coming next, more than I've been for the major part of Wano… Which is probably a good thing, Wano may have been only so-so until now, but One Piece can still spark that flame of interest.
-
I don't think it was Teach this time
Maybe not, but at this point in timeline it would be clumsy to present another pirate powerhouse. Especially through Shanks warning Gorosei.
Plus Shanks has a history with BB and was already seen warning people about him.
I agree it could be someone else, but just seems like Shanks' story line is greatly connected to BB. As to why Oda would omit the fact he's warning about BB again, who knows. To make the future plot more unpredictable, possibly. Imagine if it does turn out BB fell for a trap, but still comes up on top and becomes an even more serious threat to WG.
-

Why is it laughable to you?
Why is it downplaying? It's quite the opposite actually. And, you've continued on about randos again after I already clarified (again) I wasn't speaking about the individuals drawn, but whether or not Vegapunk's whatever it is would be involved or not. That's why you're clearly only reading/seeing what you want to due to a biased opinion. I'm glad you're cool with letting me speak my mind though, thank you!

A great deal of that is based on your opinion of world design, not what's possible or even improbable with the info we have.
Furthermore, we agree that Mihawk is remarkably powerful. You have taken my ideas for storylines involving him on a very personal level. It's because he is so marvelously powerful that the act of catching him would be a fantastic way to display the efficacy of what VP cooked up and make it a fantastic threat for the Strawhats.
I don't know whether they're utilizing what VP made or not, but for the very reason I believe that Mihawk is so talented, and the Marines know this, they would be buffoons for not utilizing it in his apprehension. And they very well may be just that.

It was not a few moments, even mihawk said only a fool would not know the name of vista. And he was forced to asks for postponement.
Compare kaidou vs luffy, BM vs queen, vista vs mihawk and swear mihawk is yonkou level. Yonkous tend to be… yonkous, not warlords.

I actually visited your podcast after someone asked about that Mihawk theory of yours.
It makes sense, especially because it would be such a "woah, what..?" moment. But what do you have in store to deal with the fact that he's still holding the strongest swordsman title? You can't have him rot in Impel Down with it. He either has to lose it in combat against another swordsman or die first. What's your idea once he's caught?
-
Is ''don't speak ill of mihawk'' the new ''don't speak ill of zoro'' or what's up with all the hurt.

Shanks bet his arm on the new generation, mihawk didn't bet his reputation on his duel with vista.

So what do you think of all the deuls Mihawk and Shanks had? you think Shanks was holding back?
Also may be Vista is top 5 of sowrdsmen in the world(or top 10 if you'd like). You expect Mihawk to 1 shot him? We don't even know how serious Mihawk was against Vista to begin with.

That was shanks more then 12 years ago, since then shanks competed with yonkous, mihawk searched protection from wg. mihawk was serious, based on his words.
-
Those last few posts made me think that maybe the subordinates Buggy acquired after Impel Down might be a metaphor to people who thinks knows about Power Levels based on trivial facts.
-
Just here for support. We can all do it! No need to read spoilers!
-
Checked the numbers on the spoiler thread without walking in, cause reading spoilers for chapters is in my opinion dumb, sorry. But wholy smokes almost 86k views, 49 pages already. What the hell is happening? xD

I'm holding out as well, but heck if I'm not hype just off those numbers alone.
-
Meh, no going back to spoilers any more. Especially if the chapter is that outrageous!
-
Ha, definitely not going back either.
-
The spoiler chat is off the wall insane right now. And the scans aren't even out yet.
-
Jesus. Get on translating and finding those scans, mangastream!
-
I knew the hype was going to be insane from one freaking sentence. I can't imagine what's in the rest of it.
-
From the events of ch. 956 you could tell ch. 957 would be as crazy if not crazier. I only visit the spoiler threads after I read the full chapter.
-
The spoiler discussion is at 51 pages right now and on pace for over 60 at least and that may be conservative. There have only been 4 or 5 chapters with as much discussion since 2010, year of marineford and the Time Skip. This is going to be a long couple hours.

What time does it typically come out on Friday? If it's too late I'll just go asleep for the night.

I hope it lives up to the hype
