Oh, Sweet Lord! That was the craziest chapter I have ever read in my life.
Had I not been spoiled before, it would have had an even greater impact on me right now.
GODAA You are amazing. Just amazing. The theory I came up with around a year ago that Komurasaki's death was set up by Kyoshiro aka Denjiro in order to save her/Hiyori also came true.
Take that Odacchi.
Although I am a little confused here. When exactly did Orochi have this chat with Kanjuro?
Because Oden met Kanjuro on his way to Kuri when he was exiled by his father, Sukiyaki at the age of 18.
So does that mean Kanjuro decided to play Orochi's puppet after he was already Oden's retainer?? That's a even greater betrayal. What I mean is that in this panel, Orochi is already a Shogun.
When Oden met Kanjuro and made him his retainer, Sukiyaki was the shogun and Orochi was nothing but a servant and Kaidou wasn't in Wano. Are you getting my point??a -
here we goooooo to read the chapter
-
What an immensely satisfying chapter. Combing through all previous chapters and picking up on the subtle hints, and to have it confirmed elevated the chapter for me.
But it doesn't end there, the worst gen entrance was fantastic as well. "When you're on sea you face pirates" A simple line but gave me goosebumps!
Can't wait for next week.

Kanjuro explaining why the scabbards are idiots for never suspecting one of them earlier definitely exposed how idiotic they are. How many signals do they need that there is a traitor for them to root one out? Denjiro was the only smart one to tell Hiyori to keep secrets, even from the allies

They kinda had no reason to believe there was a traitor in the midst due to the whole boiling pot thing.

I mean, this guys have known each for decades. It's natural they wouldn't suspect each other.

Also I didn't realize it with the scans, but Orochi is giving Kanjuro his devil fruit.
-
Also I didn't realize it with the scans, but Orochi is giving Kanjuro his devil fruit.
I wonder if the Kurozomi having access to so many devil fruits will become a plot point.
-
Something that wasn't that clear to me in the scans compared to Stephen's translation.
!
Now obviously I never believed that Luffy could pilot the ship by himself so I assumed that he has the crew with him, Oda just didn't show them to give emphasis to Law Kid and Luffy. My assumption is that Jinbei is here giving Luffy some helmsmanship underneath the ship because the storm is rough to navigate. Also right to left in this panel is I assume, Nami then Zoro then Luffy. Plus the panel here indicates the ship took damage in the attack, but Franky the wizard repaired it in a jiff.

Really enjoyed this chapter
Orochi continue to be the superior villain of the arc.
I quite enjoy the reveal where Kanjuro switch from being Kin's best friend to the sinister traitor. Really feels like he's enjoying twisting the knife. And it seems fitting to me since people in Wano seems to take revenge to the extreme wether it is the citizen killing the dam killers family for generations or Orochi destroying Wano.
My only thing is I don't see why he would have Kanjuro break his cover now and now back in Dressrosa when the situation was basically the same and with way allies in proximity. Or have Kanjuro sink the boat by accident and die loyal retainer like last time.
Law had the best entrance raising from the deep to save the samurai. Kid has the best looking ship.
-
Fucking hype ass chapter! Enough people have seen the Kanjuro reveal coming through a while that it wasn't a surprise, but it was still effective!
Same with the HIyori thing. I wasn't convinced that it was Denjiro, but I never for a second thought Kyoushiro hadn't faked her death.
Overall this was worth the wait and I'm really looking forward to whatever is next. This was a great week to reinforce the utility of not reading spoilers, lmao.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

His act wasn't up then, I guess. He would have died with them in Dressrossa, but Orochi had given him permission to wait until this time to get out of character.
edit: I'm wondering how much shit can be explained by Kanjuro's clones after a reread.
-

I dont have any problem with Kanjuro. My problem is why Orochi would make him break character now. It can't be because he think he won considering that was already sure with Oden's burning or they first showed up at Dressrosa, or even Zou. I have a hard time buying Orochi took the precaution of keeping Kanjuro under wraps all those time but suddenly he tells him to reveal himself.
-
So the 4200 strong fleet is just at a different port according to Kidd? Where did all the debris come from?
Orochi's fruit is really weird, I wonder if it's artificial? In the panel with Shadow-Kanjuro you see two snakeheads towering behind Orochi, but he's still in human form. Do they grow out of his back or what? Is this his hybrid mode?
Thinking about it, Marco was also able to transform only a part of his body into a Phoenix, while other Zoan users either transformed completely or were at least forced into a real hybrid appearance, facial features and all that… -

His biggest worry was the prophecy. Kanjuro had seemingly completed his task of stifling that and assuaging Orochi's fears. I think that's why the 20 years was emphasized this chapter. If Orochi knew about what was happening in Dressrosa while it was happening, he might have given him the go ahead, but it doesn't appear he did know.
-

..The fact that they switched port indicate someone suspected their was a traitor. I suppose they made those boats as lure for Orochi to make him think the old plan was still the real one

Switching port in a hurry?

I took it as visual liberty like Kanjuro being a shadow.
Thinking about it, Marco was also able to transform only a part of his body into a Phoenix, while other Zoan users either transformed completely or were at least forced into a real hybrid appearance, facial features and all that…
I think we only saw three form him. Full human, full bird, and the one where his hands are wings and his feet become bird feet.
-
I think we only saw three form him. Full human, full bird, and the one where his hands are wings and his feet become bird feet.
That's his "Monet" form.
-
Man, remember when there was serious discussion here about if Bariete was the traitor?
The more I read this chapter, the more I feel like Kanjuro will turn into a good guy. He's been so into his role and has no motivation for anything but death so it just feels like he could easily make it into his real life. If he's not a double agent already - perhaps he informed the pirates?
-
I suppose next chapter we will get a little flashback explaining how they outmaneuvered Orochi.
-
From Kanjuro's bland narrative (when compared to other Scabbards, he lacked initiative, introduction, and even his skill) to his minor, but convenient goofiness, this setup was adroitly done by Oda. It felt like one of those reality shows where they are waiting to reveal the winner and the camera shots are hinting who it is. Oda kept showing each Scabbard, then Kiku scolding Kinemon, and finally Kanjuro screaming with tears before being in the very next panel with the reveal. I read the chapter 5 times just for the sequencing of all of it.
It reminds me of how the anime topped the manga with how Pedro's death was sequenced.
-
10 out of 10, what a chapter
-

. Plus the panel here indicates the ship took damage in the attack, but Franky the wizard repaired it in a jiff
This is all that interests me, implies no one showed up in time to save it from the blow, which gives me hope in Klabautermann's coming back to business.

.
Because his original mission was to die along the Scabbards without ever being caught, this could have been achieved in the boiling execution or the burning castle, but Oden and Toki ruined it all.
Or in Dressrosa… Or by Jack in Zou, again, Luffy and Zunesha ruined it.Orochi just changed his mission recently to, nah never mind, bring the kiddo.

I suppose next chapter we will get a little flashback explaining how they outmaneuvered Orochi.
I mean, they already knew, Shinobu would have called everyone a traitor but Kanjuro(that skank).
It really only takes a bit of Bruce wayn.. Uhmm I mean, Trafalgar D Water Law to make it work out.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
f it's gonna be new gen vs old gen, then it should be all 11 supernovas (with the rest getting there) vs Kaido AND Big Mom.
Na, Bonney is currently working on a whole different business than piracy, she's most likely up to keep busy in the Kuma/Sabo plot, that already makes it but impossible.
Urouge's current whereabouts are unkown, unless he's still up in the sky.
But I could see him picking up Jinbro and arriving togetherBege, we know exactly where he is, his story is occuring during the Levely, which is over in the current time line, because of the Lola/Moria connection, I could also see that he would pick up Moria, Lola and Perona and sail straight to Wano, giving us at least 10 Supernovas and Three former Shichibukai, just to mirror MarineFord a bit.
-
Well I think act 3 will end soon.
Act 4 will be the main fights with act 5 being a quick conclusion with the aftermath
-
I mean, they already knew, Shinobu would have called everyone a traitor but Kanjuro(that skank).
It really only takes a bit of Bruce wayn.. Uhmm I mean, Trafalgar D Water Law to make it work out.
Shinobu only accused Bepo, Penguin, and Shachi of spilling the beans so calm down.
Law is not Wayne but okay. We still need to know how he figured it out and how they went about with the sunny, the other ships, et cetera.
-
I mean, they already knew, Shinobu would have called everyone a traitor but Kanjuro(that skank).
Or could that have been kanjuro and shinobu is somewhere captured.
-
Am I the only one who thought of the Kandra from the Mist born series when they showed a blob who perfectly acts his role as a spy
-

Law is not Wayne but okay. We still need to know how he figured it out and how they went about with the sunny, the other ships, et cetera.
Law is an ApForums member maybe, he knew there was no other way of arriving Zou but by Vivre Card, he sensed a connection between that and the port leaking, assuming this and taking the perspective of the character, the group of characters from which the traitor would have to be, its pretty slim actually.
The fact that all the allies are reunited at a different spot except for the Scabbies, points out that at the very least Law figured it had to be a Scabbard.
It also makes sense that Kanjuro revealed himself now, because if he noticed, Law was really the only one he should be caring of, since everyone else in the alliance is a dummy dummy dumb.
And Kanjuro likely knew Law was in jail so, perfect moment for him to come out.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
So did Hawkins against Law here, but we saw how that turned out in the end.
Somebody that's portrayed as Luffy's equal shouldn't really have problems with any of the other Supernovas (same for Law), unless you think Apoo is on the level of an Emperor commander.
This is also a good point as to why Apoo will not remain on Kaido's side.
He's strong, but not Kidd level of strong, he's just super bananas and not a coward at all.

If there's gonna be 10 supernova, then might as well get Bonney there, too, even if it means Kuma randomly yeeting her across the New World.

Is the devil fruit shown the one Kanjuro ate? Because if so, why is Kajuro drawn like an ink blob in the panels previously before the DF? He's not just a silhouette as there's blobs of ink separating from the main body.
Seems like Shinobu not only disappeared from last chapter, but this one too, sort of. I assume she's that smaller spec in the panel where Kin'emon was surprised about Kanjuro being at the port.
-

Isn't that just supposed to illustrate that he is no one outside of his characters?
-
Orochi just changed his mission recently to, nah never mind, bring the kiddo.
Like I said my problem isnt Kanjuro It's Orochi. It's going I never let Kanjuro reveal himself even when I was certain to win and that was the right choice since that let me keep tab on my enemies. To let's just have Kanjuro reveal himself and no longer be able to keep tabs on my enemies.
-
Yeah, as much as Asura was ignored by Orochi and Kaido as a threat, this is the best moment for Kanjuro compared to any other. It's so dramatic and matches his background.
1 more point. How will the night before be handled? Will Oda just have a character explain the main points and move on or will there be a flashback devoted to it? It seems like a lot happened.
- Kid, who was to do it on his own, is there
- Luffy, Kid and Law seem privy to the attack on the Scabbards. Did one of these 3 figure things out? Did Denjiro and/or Hiyori warn them? (Off topic, but will they use the Beast Pirate ships to sneak in a little like how Pekoms came to Totland with the Sunny? It would be weird if 1 Beast Pirate ship showed up w/ a bunch of enemy ships tho)
- It's a great amount of time
What does this mean for Act 3? Will it end with a small explanation or will we get an expounded story of the night that made this happen to close out Act 3? Lastly, will the explanation close out Act 3 or upon up Act 4? Doesn't look like Act 3 is over anyway, so it's least likely to open up Act 4
Will this whole arc be split into 2 like W7 (Wano) and EL (Onigashima Fire Festival)? If I used another arc as I did around ch. 970
If WCI was 5 parts, i'd see it as
1 - intro of Sanji siblings, Chocolate Town meeting, and a glimpse into Linlin
2 - seducing woods, Sanji's origins
3 - SH crew's struggle for Sanji, Pudding's true colors reveal, alliance
4 - Failed Escape via Wedding Assassination
5 - Real Escape (via cake and fight against Kata) Oda can do something completely new when it comes to dramatic structure in this story. In WCI arc, the alliance/Puddin reveal and the failed assassination/explosion can both be considered a climax because of the major turning points and what was addressed or resolved before and after them. Where are we currently, if this was WCI arc? Is this the 1st climax and the 2nd climax is coming or is this the only major turning point? -
Where did all the debris come from?
"props" to fool the enemy into thinking his plan has been successful?
-
Wasn't Franky going to build an excessive amount of ships?
-
It's me Kinemon! It's me, Kinemon! It was me, all along, Kinemon!
-
@Cyan:
It's me Kinemon! It's me, Kinemon! It was me, all along, Kinemon!
Raizo: Ah, sonofabitch.
Kawamatsu: WUT?!
-
Best thing is that we get a bit of a sea battle. the series always lacked pirates fighting on sea :)
-
As for the Cover Story.
The title of it going by 'The boss's wife' instead of going for just 'Chiffon' seems a bit suspicious to me.
Also, Chiffon is oftenly shown with some big titties that I suppose gained from pregnancy? Since Lola doesn't have them and the one Gotti is carrying is flat.Soo, Lola ??
Forget to mention she's not wearing the lady bug dress that Chiffon had at the beggining of the Cover Story
-
Yep, the debris in this port come from excessive amount of ship that franky build

She's wearing the barber cape from the hair salon.

Kanjuro is the very definition of insanity, this guy is just nuts.
-
Wait, wait… where is Luffy's kabuto armor??
-
Wait, wait… where is Luffy's kabuto armor??
Probably changed clothes after whatever happened the night b4
-
Where's Shinobu?? Did she turn into Kanjuro?
-
That or she just got taken out by him.
-
-
Kanjuro going "IT WAS ME, YOUR FRIEND, ALL ALONG! THE KANJURO YOU KNEW WAS NEVER REAL! HA!" because emotions don't exist is maximum
edit: apparently emojis don't work. get with the times, message boards. but here, fixed:
