The entire situation at Netflix the last several weeks have been a total mess.
One Piece on Netflix (12 June) !!
-
-
I know, the board been down since late May. But here some information about the episodes that were now on Netflix. They are Episodes 131 - 325 (Post Alabasta - Post Enies Lobby).
Episodes 207 - 230, the animation for Ending 14 is there, but it's playing the ending 15 song, Enteral Pose. Also Crazy Rainbow Star does play through Episodes 284 - 325 unlike on crunchyroll.
-
@Sano very interesting
-
One Piece is leaving Netflix on February 11th.
-
Ah it will be back sooner or later. The One Piece anime was a major success for Netflix. They are just negotiating. And even if it leaves for good we'll see it somewhere else.
-
IIRC it's still on Hulu and.....ok no, it expires in 12 days. Had all the way up to episode 750, but only up to end of Skypiea had the dub? Damn. I guess you need to go to Funimation/Crunchyroll for waaaaay more of the dubbed episodes (and the missing ~300 episodes lol)
-
I imagine that the live-action series is a pretty strong incentive for Netflix to keep OP on their service (if they can). They'll want any new OP fans to stay on their platform.
-
Could it be possible that with the Netflix license ending, that maybe now Crunchyroll will be able to host the dub? Or is it not related? Like maybe Netflix had an exclusivity contract or something
-
@Elektrik-Dynomite Assuming this isn't a hiccup on Netflix's end (which it has been in the past with other shows), I'd say it could be a possibility that Crunchyroll gets the host the show exclusively both subbed and dubbed (in similar fashion, old seasons of Bleach were recently yanked off Crunchyroll and other platforms internationally to get hosted exclusively on Disney-related platforms, because they likely ponied up the cash to do so along with nabbing the rights to stream the latest season).
But that said, it doesn't really seem to be Toei's style in restricting their shows to one single platform (especially since, of course, the live action show is coming and I'd think they'd want to get the original show out to as many people in as many different places as possible to drum up interest). Hard to say though in the end, anime licensing is just so overly-complex these days, it's hard to keep up with things.
-
@Sano said in One Piece on Netflix (12 June) !!:
One Piece is leaving Netflix on February 11th.
Where does it say so if I may ask?
-
It's on the show page on the app. Like when Saint Seiya was getting ready to leave Netflix, it have a label when it's leaving.
-
The absurd thing is that Netflix was (and still is) the only home for the brand new Latin American dubs for a huge swath of episodes. Crazy stuff.
-
Actually no it isnt. It is on Broadcast TV on some local channels AND its on HBO Max as well.
-
@Captain-Krupp Yep I knew about that, but I think HMax only has up to ep 130 and Azteca 7 only started from Water 7, so that'll leave Skypiea and whatever Azetca hasn't aired yet without a platform for the time being (and those were only released within the last year....)
-
Also I wanted to make clear I was an asshole and you didnt deserve my snippy response. Sorry. You care about us in Latin America and are so nice and I just went and told you off. I am really sorry. I just had a REALLY SHITTY WEEK and went mad.
The one correction I do want to make is that it seems that at least for Latin America not all the episodes of One Piece will be removed just 1 to 66 I think.
-
Looks like it's eps. 1-130 that are leaving in the US on Feb 11th, with Latin America losing East Blue on the same date, and Alabasta on Feb 27th.
Rumors having been swirling about Netflix tapering down on anime in general, so maybe they opted not to renew the licenses?
-
Good news, Netflix reinstated episodes 1-61 in all regions (and the other episodes won't be leaving either)!
-
I love happy endings!
-
More episodes of One Piece is coming to Netflix on July 1st.
-
@Sano awesome in time for the upcoming Netflix series I am guessing
-
Netflix just released a trailer for what's coming in July. The episodes for One Piece are Episodes 326 - 381 (Ice Hunters and Thriller Bark arcs).
-
Huh, yeah, a Netflix live-action adaptation coupled with the episodes of the actual show still on it? It's easy marketing.
-
I should watch the Ice Hunter arc one of these days.
-
Interesting thing is that I checked One Piece on both Netflix and Hulu - the former stops riiight after Thriller Bark, but the latter goes all the way up the first episode of the timeskip.
and they desginate seasons in totally different ways (Netflix 15, Hulu 9).....neither of which matches with how the Japanese count designates them.
-
More One Piece anime is coming to Netflix on September 1st with a movie and some tv specials. Here are what coming on September 1st.
3D2Y
Episode of East Blue
Episode of Skypiea
Heart of Gold
Film Gold
Adventure in Nebulandia -
@RoboBlue would be great if the live action version adopts the filler arcs but make them work better like have the dragons retitled as Mayan Feathered Serpent
-
There's potential for filler or a cover story adaptation in a theoretical season 3, since I can't see Jaya/Skypeia taking more then six episodes together. Perhaps an early G8? The content would definitely need to go towards the beginning since you wouldn't want to add some random arc to close out the season after the big showdown with Enel.
-
The manga being as massive as it is, I don't think adapting anime filler would be a good move. It's better to focus solely on the original material.
For the third season they could just move Foxy arc before Jaya. Assuming Foxy arc even gets adapted.
-
More episodes of the anime is coming to Netflix on October 1st. So far for sure, we know Episodes 382 - 405 (Spa Island and Sabaody) will be part of this batch of episodes. We just don't know what else yet.
-
@Sano Did they announce it somewhere?
-
This post is deleted!
-
Episodes 382 - 421 (Spa Island - Amazon Lily) is now up on Netflix.
-
meanwhile Hulu is now just past Fishman Island.
-
I bet One Piece will enter the Top 10 internationally when Marineford is added.
-
@Captain-Krupp agreed. We gonna see so many homies bridge watch a war
-
More episodes of One Piece is coming to Netflix on December 1st. For now, we only know that this batch of episodes will be only covering Impel Down arc and the Strong World filler.
-
I really hope Latin America will get them too!
-
Looks like Hulu is getting the "Complete Season 11" as well. (I presume all of Dressrosa)
I know this thread is Netflix specific, but I ran outta Netflix episodes and Hulu was the only one that wasn't making me tear my hair out over the opening issues.
-
We should do a "One Piece on streaming" thread so we can tell members where they can find episodes and movies on streaming.
And keep this one open because its still needed for all general netflix news.
-
@Captain-Krupp fuck yeah dude. :)
-
Episodes 422 - 458 (Impel Down, Strong World filler, and the two before Marineford recap episodes) is now up on Netflix.
-
More episodes of One Piece is coming to Netflix on January 1st. So far, we know it's only going to be Marineford.
-
And including The One Piece that makes three for 2024. Money
-
The Most Popular Anime Series According to Netflix's Data Drop
One Piece as a franchise is just as much of a juggernaut as you would expect, with a whopping 238,600,000 total hours viewed across the entire franchise and an average of 5,680,952 hours viewed across the entire franchise. (I tried to make a chart for this, but there is no way it would work for such a massive franchise!)
-
@Captain-Krupp 8 Piece is real
-
It sure is!
BTW Latin America got to Shabondy today. Dubbed and all!
-
Marineford (Episodes 459 - 516) is now up on Netflix. The Toriko crossover episode is skipped over.
-
The acting on the Latin American dub IS AMAZING. I cant believe its so good, the Sabaody Final Battle was so heartwrenching in Latin American Spanish I cant believe I actually got sad despite long knowing everyone is fine.
I am especially impressed by Luffy's 2nd voice actress. It turned out the first one got fired unfairly but god is the second one just as good. I am glad. And its amazing considering the dub doesnt actually have an experienced director at the helm right now. Just a sound director.
-
@Sano poor Toriko licensing, be damned
