To paraphrase a movie quote: Evil will never triumph, because Good is dumb.
Great freaking chapter! I know Oda mentioned that he has wanted to do a real naval battle and I wonder if it's finally time?
With this chapter, I feel like the fleet is ready. Next chapter we will switch to Onigashima and see Kaidou's Side to set the stage for the war. Maybe know the reason why he wants Momo so bad.
Also I would love to see Orochi interacts with Big Mom
One Billion IQ Kinemon!
Wooooooo!!!
PAHAHAHAHAH, Kin'emon was just brilliant! Except not! Hilarious, like OP has gotten us used to. Was totally not expecting that punchline at the end, it was just perfect. And now, finally, for real, onwards to Onigashima!
Wonder how will Wano progress from now on. Will all the action be in Onigashima? Will we return to the mainland? I wonder how will things like Zoro's ancestors (or sensei) being from Wano will be revealed? Oda always has the citizens be witnesses to the last fight. So I wonder how will that pan out. Also, no one seems to be going after Kanjuro tp rescue Momo
Also I would love to see Orochi interacts with Big Mom
She's going to wear him like a scarf.

We all didn't see it but Sanji was already there behind Kanjuro :ninja:
Hilarious chapter, certainly did not expect that
Also several of the Strawhats look so much cooler right now, especially Sanji
I was thinking about Momo's rescue happening in this chapter but I bet Oda wants to prioritize the entire army being mobilized first. I bet first thing in the next chapter everyone's Haki radar starts buzzing and Shinobu and Momo get saved.
Omg, that was great. It would ruin a re-read to an extent but that zinger was hilarious. He's Samurai Buggy now.
I thought the joke was a little too much. Maybe if the consequences were lesser in scope. This way it's just out of place.
Not a fan of lenghty forced expositions like that. But I get Oda is going for theatrics.
Glad we got the attack going finally, though! It's the real deal now.

Most likely Kanjuro will escape to Onigashima with Momo, where he will play damsel.
Contrived: the chapter.
I hate this tedious numbering of allied forces when numbers don't mean anything in One Piece anyway and lengthy exposition when they should all be fighting furiously to bank on the effect of surprise.
The fact that boats keeping popping up left and right completely unnoticed much like Kingdom's Houken doesn't help either.
Only redeeming factor is the joke on Kinemon (he didn't get the full meaning of Yasuie's message, right ?)
Only redeeming factor is the joke on Kinemon (he didn't get the full meaning of Yasuie message, right ?)
Right. He lets Denjiro and everyone else think he did when they make that assumption, but he told his allies that it was Lizard Harbor because he really did think that's what Yasu was telling them; he genuinely misinterpreted the message, lulz.
With the way things are going, Kin could be a great interim (or full-time) leader of Wano if Momo goes with the Straw Hats as the final member.
I think Denjiro understood that Kinnemon had made a mistake, so Denjiro's entire show was to save Kinnemon's face, since he is the leader and people must have faith in him.
Gotti found Lola. He should get a prize. I wonder what she's doing there in the new world when not to long ago she was still in paradise.
That guy with the Bird head is now my favorite design. I see Sanji said fuck it to the Wano attire and I prefer that. Nami seems really into it now.
Law calling the others losers and being that petty doesn't match him. He's the tortured spirit and too cool for school kid. Kidd is the one always picking a fight and yelling about how he's better than everyone.
Luffy using an OP attack to prove to the others he's the best is pretty consistent with him using gear 3rd on mooks back at the archipelago. I'd probaly would have gone each land on one ship and fight over who destroyed their ship first.
Like I said before if Orochi is gonna give up on his mole now I'm not sure why he wouldn't have done it much sooner. Reads as inconsistent to me.
When someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES". Winston would be proud of Kinemon.
So 5 thousand against 40 thousand. Not too bad. The big problem really is that Big Mom crew has join the fray and they are a fairly good army.
I guest their will be 200 more additions to the army for "go-mu", right?
With the way things are going, Kin could be a great interim (or full-time) leader of Wano if Momo goes with the Straw Hats as the final member.
Or a regent to keep things intact for when Momo comes of age, assuming Hiyori can't either inherit or be regent.
Most likely Kanjuro will escape to Onigashima with Momo, where he will play damsel.
Really? I feel that would be terrible story telling with all the useful powers the allies have at the moment.
If Luffy senses Momo and Shinobu are in danger he can stretch over and grab him. If Law senses he can open his room and switch them over with a rock.
If Kanjuro decides to draw a bird and flee away Sanji can grab them in the air. I don't see how Kanjuro can escape with Momo in the current circumstances without the plot demanding it of course lol.
What does that have to do with this chapter?
It's always Sanji discussion time. The year of Sanji is every year.

I think that was precisely his point.

So nothing then. I was genuinely curious.
I think that was precisely his point.
That just brings me back to my first point, bad storytelling if Kanjuro escapes right now.
At the moment, Kanjuro is outmanned 1000-1. I don't see any scenario of him escaping even if Calamities show up on the sea for some reason, which they shouldn't.

Kanjuro's ability has the potential to be super broken. Apart from drawing a creature that can fly he could also draw distractions for the enemy. Add the stormy weather and it shouldn't be hard to write a believable escape scenario for him and Momo.

Fine but I think Oda is thinking precisely about "storytelling". I'm not sure it would be good "storytelling" right now for Momo to be rescued and Kanjuro taken out.

Yea I'm not seeing the issue there.
I'm not sure what would be the point of that, though.
They were already planning to bring Momo to the battle anyways, so there's no need to forcefully get him there. And Kanjuro going there to warn Orochi seems like the opposite of what the plot is going for (catching the enemies by surprise).
I think Kanjuro is gonna end up sinking into to sea but surviving and coming back at a more appropriate time (Luffy and Big Mom did it).
Kanjuro will conjure an army of perfectly drawn Ryonosukes.
And then Robin will mercilessly break their backs because that shit aint cute.
For all we know the real Eviljuro has already escaped with momo. You literally cannot tell the real one from his pictures so for all we know he could be on a picture ship sailing away while he drew a a huge we are still here cover picture complete with moving momos. It's like when Bugs Bunny draws a tunnel on a wall and makes people smack into it, the ability to mind fuck people is unlimited for such a skilled artist
As someone who's mishaps are part of the everyday life, I feel you Kinemon, I feel you. And I respect you even more.

I can see that his ability can enable him to escape swiftly, but honestly hes out here 5000-1. He needs at least a second to draw whatever it is needed to escape. If he does escape doesn't that just show gross incompetence of the allied forces?
Fine but I think Oda is thinking precisely about "storytelling". I'm not sure it would be good "storytelling" right now for Momo to be rescued and Kanjuro taken out.
Storytelling was a bad way to phrase it. I don't want to project my thoughts of how Oda should tell his story and concede that it wouldn't be the greatest thing for Kanjuro to be taken out. I just thought it would be weird for them to not prioritize rescuing him when theyre capable to do so.

That could be true, but Oda literally just pulled that off on the ship. That Kanjuro wasn't real, now the one on the Harbor is a phony too? I'm not saying it's impossible but it's just reaching nonsensical levels.
Kanjuro always has an ink clone handy, and is showing us drawings of the past momo and shinobu tied up? When does that end, when can we stop his madness lmao.
Oh shit… lol.
I totally misread that ending. Kinemon messed up big time, yet it still went in his favour. Haha.
Lame fight idea number one. Kanjuro creates like a shit ton of paper copies and just whales on some samurais who just keeps slicing ribbons while trying to find the real juro, and then Jinbei shows up and fishman karate splashes the lot of them into paper mache evening the odds
"You didn't really get it, dont you kin?", "Good lord, we still have Den, because you Kin…", "I won't say a word neither"... the thoughts of the scabbars... lol
How will get the alliance a believable chance of at least a partial victory? Because the alliance agains kaido was ok, but against kaido and BM the chances of defeating at least one yonkou are nearly cero. Maybe BM goes into the mad mode...
As for Kanjuro maybe someone takes his paint brush.
Looking forward to see the big fights!!!
Loved this chapter! Steven's translation made the explanation a lot clearer, 35 cheers for that guy! Hip hip x35! Kin'emon's face at the end was great. Also funny but certainly not intended to be is all these characters talking over the rough sea and storm.
Sanji, Usopp and Brook each have the dark gloves on. Wonder if something significant is at work here. And Brook is looking good in his old fashioned style. I don't want to see the crown or that dead bird for long while.
Now bring on the match ups! I don't know if Zoro, Sanji and Jinbe are entirely ready to solo the Calamities or the Sweet Single yet but I do want them to finish them off on their own. Much like Luffy and the Emperors themselves maybe its too soon for an absolute 1v1. If Luffy had no help against Kaidou and/or Big Mom the tension for a go against Teach or Shanks might be impacted. Though with Smoothie being a woman I don't expect Oda to let Luffy's big 3 take her down, I'd love for Nami and Robin to double team her.
Adding to what I said in the spoiler thread…
Dog and Cat should get their chance at Jack again, though with missing limbs I don't see them accomplishing that goal. If this guy is really a fishman lets let Jinbei get the full throw down with some shared history for good measure!
And as I said to Monquito I feel there is a big difference between Cat and Dog compared to the other limb losers. Kid, Aokiji and Perospero(for good measure) command abilities that give them new limbs as if they lost nothing. At the very least I expect Oda to handle them somewhat like Kyros and Zeff. Their lost limbs were acknowledged to be a hinderance during battle even if it was minor. Shanks is Shanks. His role and capabilities were guaranteed from inception. He could have been a floating head from Chapter 1 and he’d still be the same powerful figure.
I will counter my own point however in saying that if the Minks can all float and fly having one less leg or arm shouldn’t be as much of an issue.
Also Jack couldn’t defeat Catviper and Dogstorm but they couldn’t defeat him either and they had the luxury of sleeping, eating and resting between tagging out. What if Sulong runs out and Jack regenerates before we even see a hybrid form?
I could easily see them getting their revenge but I could also see their trump card not lasting as long as necessary with someone else needed to finish the job. Sulong seems too good of an ability right now despite its draw backs. Since we know what it entails and it’s going to come in mass I’m ready for Oda to give the readers a false since of security once the transformations begin.
If we got tons of named attacks from Jack and a hybrid form I'd place all his incomplete assignments with Blueno's file. Seems like he's being saved for a full fight. He did get smashed and bashed hard several times and not once was he actually out of commission. He's yet to white out right? Even under water after Zunisha's thrashing he seemed relatively fine.
Queen - His bounty is over 300 million higher than Jack's and with King's bounty yet to be revealed I'm going to assume his is higher than Queens. Let Sanji take on this guy who is presumedly 2nd best. As forum goer Jabra has pointed out Queen is the New World Jabra of CP9. The fu manchu kungfu mustache, the hair style, the shades and a Zoan to boot. He doesn't like to share food and has the hots for Oden's daughter. And if thats lipstick he might be some kind of drag queen, I don't know, looks right up Sanji's alley. Oh and lastly maybe that robotic arm gets to go against the scientific engineering of the Raid Suit. Hopefully destroying it in the process.
King - His title and bounty(most likely) seem to be highest outside of the captain himself so he's gotta be Zoro's opponent. Would be neat if he is actually a master flying swordsmen as well. But then all the All Stars cary blades so we'll see.
King also seems to have fire-based powers. Zoro learning the Wano technique of cutting fire would be nice. He showed interest in it in Punk Hazard. And in Fishman Island he said that a flaming sword would be cool.
I really have no idea how the match-ups will go since we get two Yonkou. If it was only Kaidou, I could see a Luffy/Law/Kid tag-team against him as the big final fight. But with Big Mom around, things really are chaotic right now.
For the big non-Yonkou antagonists, we have Smoothie, King, Queen and Jack. Maybe at least one of them (Jack? He's the least interesting) will be downed not by Strawhats, but by Law or Kid's crewmembers?
For other named opponents, we have the other Big Mom officers like Perospero, Daifuku, Oven, Mont-d'or, Amande, Pageone and Scratchman Apoo. And other Charlotte children I forgot. Oh, and Orochi. Some of these will be downed by allies rather than Strawhats
There's also the many unnamed threats like the other four remaining "Flying Headliners" and the Numbers.
For allies, beyond Law, Kid, the Red Scabbards and the minks, I think both Hawkins and Drake will change sides and join the pirate alliance. I don't see Apoo doing the same. And there's also Caribou, who I forgot was still around. Jinbe and maybe the fishman pirates will probably appear. I'm counting on a surprise appearance by Gekko Moria. And I think Nekomamushi will bring some of the remaining Whitebeard pirates after Marco points him towards them. Maybe we will see Diamond Jaws, Vista, Izo and others.
Very hard to predict how all of this will unfold.
I'm looking forwars to seeing an animal person be matched up against an opponent on their level. Like a lesser scabbard versus someone like for instance elefant chest or tiger crotch could be fun. Maybe they'll get to not be made to go up against monsters all the dang time
I don't see any point in fight speculation when we don't even know all of Kaidou's crew. Not to mention there are probably going to be a bunch of outside forces (Whitebeard Pirates, Blackbeard Pirates & Moria, Weevil, Marines etc.), and we don't even know if the Numbers are "Mini-bosses" or "Elite Mooks."
Anyway, nice chapter. The exposition got a bit thick, but the punchline saved it.
I just want Zoro and Sanji to finally have a long and detailed fight (more than 2 chapters).
Luffy gets so many of them while his crew gets nothing. Ideally I would want the whole crew to get fights but that's not going to happen so if at least the 2 other main fighters get one I would be happy enough.
That arc is one of the last opportunity for them. After this arc I don't see many opportunities coming until the final arc.
I will be hoping for them to take on King and Queen without outside help but I fear that won't happen and the other captains will get those fights.
Both King and Queen have things that could make a great fight against Sanji. It would be a shame if it turns out that Sanji won't fight either.
Most likely Kanjuro will escape to Onigashima with Momo, where he will play damsel.
Which is going to make Luffy rush ahead of everyone else as usual, Law is gonna follow him cause 'let's not leave that idiot alone' and Kidd is going to follow cause 'I'll be the one taking both emperors down'.
which pretty much means, the Worst Gen Trio would easily get rid off anyone getting on their way, including, a strong foe. it just a matter of who is going to be the Blueno this time:ninja:
I thought the official would change Punk Rotten to something cooler, but whatever
Next chapter. Sanji's Ridiculous Radar. Shinobu is saved.
Kaido's reign in Wano will end thanks to Kinemon being too dumb to understand Yasuie's message
It will be fun if both Kaido and Bigmom decided to take out Luffy at the same time and neither of them is willing to let the other attack first/at the same time..etc and t ends up a 3 way battle in which the two emperors end up damaging/obstructing each other.
But knowing Oda he will do something unexpected and keep Bigmom busy with something else.
The most obvious outcome for me Is the alliance destroying whatever the food is on Onigashima, making Big Mom to enter her food rage and make that a 3 sided battle.
