One Piece Episode 860 Preview
This episode was pretty poor overall, and that was mainly due to the very underwhelming direction this episode. Very obviously a sacrificed episode in that sense, with the story boarder for this episode not directing his own episode. Visually, the episode was mostly fine, studio cosmo did decent enough, and Ichikawa's direction made the episode a lot less rough on its own. However, the poor direction and background art not paying attention to lighting made everything feel rather flat.
Overall, not a good episode. Next week looks far more interesting, looking forward to Komaki's direction, and studio Guts return to the show after episode of Skypiea.(wtf is happening with the fonts)
I'm just happy I got to see Sanji's light speed moment animated. Been waiting a long time to see him blitz Oven like a boss.
The art was atrocious, but you know what, I'm gonna give this episode a pass just because of the Luffy/Bruule scenes. They were genuinely funny and cute.

So glad we get to see Efile and Monde being formally introduced here and gets a bit of action against Luffy, didn't expect Monde to end her sentences with 'monde' and she's seems to be quite strong, judging by the fact that she was able to sliced a house in half with her sword. Hoping we'll get more formal introduction of the other Charlotte siblings in the future episodes.

This episode feels like it was sent out to die but at least the preview showed some great stuff to look forward to. 860 will be the first episode handled by Isochi and Studio GUTS since the very start of the Tea Party before they started working on the Skypiea special earlier in the year and it looks like they haven't missed a step. The outsourcing there, here, and TAP in prior episodes hopefully means that the regular anime's better staff members are able to return ahead of schedule since 861 and 862 are going to be episodes that absolutely have to be nailed.

My condolences to anyone who was looking forward to seeing Sanji's one (1) canonical combat feat highlight in six/seven years animated, but it was what I expected with an undistinguished episode director and a garbage time animation director.

Anything that expands minor characters in a good way is fine by me-monde.
Here's hoping poor Compote gets to do SOMETHING before the arc ends. She's the First Daughter and was even up in the last intro with the other big shots. Please let Compote do Something Challenge.
