One Piece Anime To Enter Wano Arc In July 2019
-
In my opinion that’s still too soon, but Toei does not care so…
-
i only see a twitter post with an image of a preview video that was released some time ago…
and someone saying it will start in July......no source given for said info....... anywhere?

I mean, the guy is typically pretty reliable, and I think it would make sense if it started in July from a schedule perspective.
-
i'm not saying he's not a reliable source,
just that he cites no source for said info…. -

They do care, just not in the way you want them to.
-
So it looks like there'll be a short filler arc between Reverie and Wano, assuming Reverie isn't doubled in length.
-
July is sooner than I wanted. I'd hope the anime would wait until at least October before starting Wano. How foolish of me.
-
i'm not saying he's not a reliable source,
just that he cites no source for said info….He tends to be legit about that sort of thing, he has connections with some staff in Toei who know about that sort of thing.
-
Assuming they maintain the 1:1 pacing they've returned to since episode 870 the Reverie arc should be done around early/mid May, leaving just enough time for another short three-four episode filler arc so that Wano will start with the summer anime season.
-
i'm not saying he's not a reliable source,
just that he cites no source for said info….Agree. That guy seem so cocky. I asked him what was his source and he didnt even bothered to reply me. Like saying 'How dare you to question my reliability?"

Yeah, his a bit cocky, and his sources aren't always correct, but apparently, according to fellow insider source types, the source he used to make that statement was legit.

that news is crazy so excited.
-
From the genga of Key Visual, the new CD will be most likely Matsuda.
-
Yeah, Matsuda would be my first choice too (my second would be Shuuichi Ito since his style meshes really well with Ichikawa's). I had a feeling that she might succeed Hisada someday given that the episodes she debuted as an animation director on were co-AD'd by him and she actually did do some character design work of her own for the Navy Supernova filler arc.
Either way, regardless of who inherits the role it should be exciting given the new (and new-but-not-necessarily-"new") blood the show's been getting lately because I think everyone can agree it needs and deserves it.
-
Yeah my money on matsuda aswell her style isn't far from hisada plus she did character design work on the navy base filler with the 3 navy base rookies.
shuuichi ito really changed his style to match ichakawa more.
I hope they go batshit and give the job to isamu takara mmm….love his clothing and muscles he draws.
-
I think we still have 3 episodes from the Reverie arc (June 2,June 9 and June 16). June 23 and June 30 will probably be 2 fillers then like i imagined,Wano and the new opening starts on July 7!

Notice the change in how outlines are drawn and generated, with grain filters used, the same as Toei did with Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
They're serious about Wano, I hope this animation art style stays. It keeps shots more interesting when they are static.
-
I wish they didn't already waste Kenjirou Tsuda's voice on Yonji. After hearing him voice Genichiro in Sekiro, I think he'd make a pretty great Kyoshiro.
I know he could voice both of them, but that doesn't feel likely to me given how recent WCI was.
-
This director really likes filters lol.
-
Matsuda, 100%. Those jawlines don't lie.

Could you link Luffy's character designs by Hisada in WCI if you have any just for comparisons sake? Thanks.
-
You're the third person I've seen say the outlines are generated with a filter? Are they not drawn deliberately thick using a pressure sensitive stylus (or possibly a fountain pen)? Look at Robin's nose, where one line is thicker than the other, or compare the lines on Franky's chin to his hair (in some frames).

Nah, its definitely a filter. Toei first developed technologies for Tiger Mask W that increased light variation initial with the intent of recreating the original iconic aesthetic of that show, however, since then more and more shows used that technology, with Nagamine in particular, who was already a director who liked using filters, implementing it for his first time on DBS, then on DBS Broly and now on One Piece. Its definitely been refined since then I think, but the effect is basically the same, to artificially mimic line variation which was previously lacking. This being said, the technology is not perfect, and has been known to make "errors", however, they are usually not overtly egregious.
-
Actially, that image explains a lot. If you want a thicker line, draw two lines close to each other.

Interesting. I thought they would turn chapter 908 into 2 episodes, have 2 filler episodes, then enter Wano the same as the manga did.
Instead
- they aren't doing 2 filler episodes
- will turn the 1st half of 909 into a full episode
- second half of Seppuku (909) will go after 910
I like the sequencing here. 908 is still going to be 2 episodes as well. I think this will be the first New World arc to enter without a filler arc since Fishman Island.

Summary for Nagamine Interview ! Thanks to KaidoBoby for Translation !
In Wano arc, there’ll be all kinds of characters but each with a clear role of their own. The cast themselves will present the characters with their unique dialogues to show the characters’ strength and how they’re different from others.
The composer Tanaka Kohei have introduced Japanese instruments for the music of Wano Country arc. They believe the interactions between characters are one of the things readers enjoy in OP, and Wano arc(with a lot of elements from yakuza movies) is very detailed in that field.
The highlight of the action scene will be the battle between Luffy and Kaido, near the climax of act 1. For Luffy, the battle with Kaido will be the reason he strengthens his Haki.
We’ve reached the climax of the series(up to now), this arc even holds great meaning for the series as a whole, bringing all the foreshadowings from the beginning of NW together. To animate this arc, we’ve further strengthen our staff, so please look forward to it. -
Ooh, new music! Cool.
-
I got scared by Debris comment. I thought they were replacing the composers.
