Huh. The New World sure is a mess. Kaidou panics over Big Mom showing up, yet King alone seemed enough to take them down–even if it's through taking advantage of his mobility and their vulnerable position. I trust Big Mom will come back, but it's weird to see how reckless these top of the world pirates can be.

Kaidou seems to be afraid that Big Mom will tell people some of Kaidos shameful secrets like for example debt he owes her that was mentioned earlier. I think he was afraid of that more than fight itself.

Also I wonder if Big Mom will use Germa 66 snails to reach Wano easily.

It would be better to send Kizaru to kill or capture Katakuri and Cracker. That would weaken Big Mom forces big time and its safer than attacking Big Mom directly.. Then Blackbeard could try to take over Big Moms territory. Though Katakuri is too likeable for it to happen..

The relative shock of the Big Mom scene reminds me how little we've seen sea battles so far into this series. With this much concentration of Devil Fruit users in the New World, there's a whole lot of new perilous situations Oda can create, and so I hope he keeps his word about including more sea battles in Wano.

I was talking more how there was no sign of uproar in Marine HQ or Mariejoia. BM was suddenly on Wano shores, no fanfare. Just business as usual in the New World. Either Oda didn't feel like emphasizing how big of a deal that is for New World to save chapter space or WG doesn't care about maintaining world balance.

Yeah, the contrast was intentional. People shouldn't expect Pirates to be as reasonable as Fleet Admirals.

That said, I am still disappointed with the Marines post TS. Sure, Akainu not sending forces into unknown territory makes sense, but the narrative post TS was also: The Marines are now a much scarier force of justice! I'm not feeling that change in leadership, despite the meeting between Kaido and BM offerering the perfect stage for some absolute justice balance of power shenanigans.

Oh well, maybe they will do the cleanup when the Battle Royal between the pirate factions is over, but… eh. I need some magma fisting in my life.

Yep, i do not disagree with that. For the most part, Marines were pretty much only reactionary post-TS instead of trying to actively accomplish something (well, except Fuji i guess) but for now i put it on what Law was talking about in Punk Hazard, namely "the Marines are preparing something huge". Consequently, i put Akainu´s warning not on "we have to be careful" in general, but more like "we can´t deal with unpredictable risks at the moment" due to what they are aiming for.
Might be wrong, but that´s the impression i got.
All in all, i agree that both Akainu´s lack of screentime and inaction when he is actually shown is somewhat disappointing, but since i see Akainu being part of the endgame, i am not worried yet.

What would showing their reaction do to impact the story beyond what we already have? They already knew she was going to Wano, they've already decided to let it play out to a degree. Since they fully expected this would happen, nothing that happened in this chapter would necessitate a different reaction, not unless Big Mom actually dies here which she won't.

Though, I mean, there is also suspicious plot reasons at play. I doubt Oda would want to bring the Marines back in this kind of capacity when two admirals recently took on the Revolutionaries who crashed the Reverie and we don't know how that played out yet.

Chapter comparisons! Not too many this week, and the ones we do have are pretty minor.

In the scanlations, the townspeople welcome Tonoyasu back but state that they don't have any food. In the official translation, they ask him why he came back, since there isn't any food.
In Mangastream, Yasu states that the fact that humans are the only creatures that can smile "makes ya feel like smilin', don't it?" Whereas in Jaimini's Box and VIZ, he states that not using such a good thing would be a waste.
Yasu continues to make rhymes in the official version, like "Why waste a good thing?" with "Let those smiles ring!"
In MS, Yasu says that Zoro has fallen in love with him at first sight, whereas in JB and VIZ, he says it the other way around: in JB, Zoro is "the man I fell for", and in VIZ, Yasu says "Keep your hands off this catch, folks–I saw him first! " In the speech bubble after this, where one of the other townspeople is noting the misfortunate of being stuck with such a weirdo, MS seems kind of unclear of which one between Zoro and Yasu is "stuck with" and which one's the "weirdo", whereas JB and especially VIZ make it more clear that the speaker is expressing sympathy for Zoro being stuck with Yasu.
When the young girl is offering Zoro the water, in JB, it seems like someone else asks if she/they bought it with that [Witching Hour] money, whereas in MS and VIZ, the girl herself is saying they used the money to buy it. Then, after he drinks, it, Yasu describes Zoro returning to his "boring" face in MS, "stern" face in JB, and "scowling" in VIZ, and the following sound-effect bubble says "Grin" in MS, but "Squish" in JB and "Mween" in VIZ.
When Law is telling the three SHs with him to not say anything about the samurai or Minks, in the scanlations he tells them to die "without divulging a single secret" (MS)/"with your mouths closed" (JB). In the official, he tells them to "just let them kill you." In response to Usopp noting that Luffy would never say something like that, Law responds that he's "more realistic" in JB, as opposed to "a bit drier" (MS) / "I prefer things a bit more deadpan." (VIZ).
Usopp tells Law that he's "the worst captain ever" in MS, as opposed to JB and VIZ where he more seems to take issue with Law acting like he's their captain. Sanji's response in the official translation to Usopp claiming he'll rat everyone else out to save himself is "Don't even think about it! Oooh, I'm gonna protect you so good!"

Well things sure are unpredictable. I'm curious to see how he will be able to manage all those characters and not get into the flaws from Dressrosa.
Also there is the question of the timeline. We know the main event will be the fire festival but there is still one week before it. And I doubt Big Mum will stay one week in the sea.
As you say, there is also the point of Elbaf. Personally I have doubt she will be the antagonist there now that we know she is part of Wano for sure. Maybe what happens in Wano will have consequences in Elbaf and that is how thing will be tied on.

If you meant what Pell said it was that there are five known DFs that give you the ability to fly. Or a handful if you take Maxters word on the translation being closer to a handful than a specific number. But there are of course currently like a dozen plus or so that essentially imbue you with abilities that give that effect

dunno why people complain about Sanji using that suit, yea ok he denied it, but why people see it like sanji is weak, its like Zoro getting better swords… It would be a good thing if we see sanji getting some new moves..

I've always said that Sauron needs a robot suit too. How else can he unlock the four sword style. I mean a sword on the crotch wouldn't work and five swords counting the feet would just be silly. All signs point to robo suit, or perhaps plain ol' invisible haki arms. Or feeding his sword a sword df so his sword can have a sword. Oh man the word sword is starting to sound weird through overuse now

Well, the WG survived an era where not only Kaidou and BM were in one Crew, but also other "old pirates".
If they met in a Country affiliated to the WG, the marines would react differently. You can be sure they have an eye on each yonkou, but if the yonkou damage each other, the WG would be stupid to interfere such a clash.

Or giving Luffy a sword. But it was still Luffy (cause he used said sword totally wrong). If Sanji uses the suit like Luffy used that Kitetsu, I'd be fine with it.

Well they're more armored so I'd say it's more like morphing into a VR Trooper or Big Bad Beetle Borg. God, I feel old.

Kinda surprised Sanji just whips that thing out so early on, you'd think he'd remark about how hard Page One's skin is if he's already feeling the need to power up and not pull it out in a more desperate situation where it would be more dramatically appropriate. I guess that's a high compliment to Page One but with how much crap Sanji's had fed to him post-Time Skip, it's harder to actually tell.

I know, every host is going to have different translations. Still, he's acting awfully casual about it given his previous revulsion to the idea of retaining something that connects him to the Vinsmokes. You'd think a guy like Mr. Prince would come up with better ways to hide his identity, especially if he's already undercover as Sangoro here too. Would it have been that hard to put on even something as ramshackle as an Iron Fist sort of mask from a stray piece of discarded clothing or other random cloth, or hell, even out of his own shirt? What a letdown for him not to have some kind of badass shirt-discarding moment like something you'd see Zoro doing. I dunno, just feels contrived for an excuse to do it this soon after getting the Raid Suit, and against an opponent that it looks like he might at least be evenly matched with; Page One appears to be in his non-hybrid form which would be the most powerful, and Sanji hasn't even pulled out Diable Jambe yet so who knows. Maybe deep down he's actually curious about how much more powerful it'll make him, or just what it actually does other than add body armor or make him look cooler. Still, it kind of kills the opportunity for a really tense dramatic moment. I was always hoping for a more organic way of him powering up with his dormant super-genes so it's a double disappointment.

The voice shouldn't be a point seeing how many men in anime are voiced by woman (Luffy, for example), but the lack of a shirt probably settles it.

Could it be that luffy and his allies will take on both big mom pirates and kaidou pirates? Kaidou doesn't seem to have anyone relevant besides 6 healiners, 3 calamities and shogun himself. While luffy has zunisha, samurais, minks, 3 super samurais, supernovas & crews, SHs, maybe even sun pirates and germa if they show up too.

So guys, now that we know Oven has been left on weaker Whole Cake Island, what are the chances Blackbeard sends someone to get his Heat fruit as a replacement for missing the Fire fruit?

We know BB is highly opportunistic and his crew will take any chance they get to get fruit(Burgess attacking Luffy sorely for his rubber fruit, which isn't really that useful unless mastered). So it would make perfect sense for him to attack WCI and take some fruits from there.

I expect we'll get some panels of an utterly decimated WCI by the time Wano ends.

Also an attack on WCI could possibly draw BM away from Wano, making it less of a clusterfuck.
