You're doing Goda's work. Don't get cocky, kid
The return of Caribou! Nice!!
Dobon is one of the craziest designs Oda has ever drawn. I love it!
I like Luffy and Kidd's friendly(?)-rivalry.
Man, Oda's really working hard to make the smile users more interesting than regular boring Zoans.
I'm sure Artur will cover it at the Library of Ohara, but Orochi's confiscation of weapons mirrors Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Sword Hunt
There's like a 60% chance Orochi ends up being a Spandam tyoe of chump. I don't know how someone who is supposed to be a top tier would act so scared unless it was all an act and a lie. It's probably why he had to bring Kaido into the picture to take over.
Glad to see Caribou's back… The guy's a skumbag, but he's a scumbag with a modicum of plot significance, so I'm looking forward to seeing where Oda takes him.
On another note, Dobon looks freaking weird! XD
By the way on page 11 where we cut to Udon, instead of the usual "Don!!" sound effect, we get "Udon!!" Just a little pun that went untranslated.
Also, regular Karate is also a thing in Wano.
wow..i take back of my suggestion that Sanji should come to free Luffy
This storyline of Luffy-Kidd rivalry is much more interesting.
Also, seems like Kawamatsu is enter the scene. As for Denjirou still not yet shown.
Very fun chapter. I've been waiting to see Kid story since his 1st introduction. Very happy to see that Oda build him to be Luffy's equal.
I wonder how crazy if Kaido's weapon is 100% made of seastone and Kaido actually defeating Luffy with that kind of limitation like Luffy and Kid in this chapter.
That Hippo design…
It had been a while since I enjoyed a chapter so much. Loving every bit of the prison sequence, finding out Caribou is there as well was the cherry topping. Can't wait to see what will develop over there.
Great chapter I love how stealth like Usop moves as well as Sanji cooking for the ladies. Love the back and forth between Luffy and Kidd. Looks like Kidd has the same body type as Luffy, I wonder if it has something to do with Conquerers haki.
Good chapter, I love the portrayal Kid is getting so far, especially him being able to eat as much as Luffy. Truly the sign of a conqueror.

To be fair, you'd have to be really dumb to allow your enemies the opportunity to rebel. Taking the weapons and opposing samurai away is a smart call. The only thing that's "concerning" (for those who really, really want Orochi to not be Spandam 2.0 anyways) is how paranoid he is about the prophecy.
That old man… I could be wrong, but could he be Ashura Douji's dad? They sport the same shoulder Tattoos (flower pattern) and their eyebrow-"bones" are similar as well.
Geez, it seems that I'll only get disappointed if I hope to get an "act" more focused on the other Strawhats (or somebody else in the alliance) instead of more Luffy. Damn! But I won't get more upset than I should because this stuff with Luffy & Kidd would have to come eventually… although I'll keep praying to the heavens to give Oda the strenght to take his eyes away from Luffy for some time during Wano.
Putting my grievance aside and looking at the chapter on its own merits... welll, I actually didn't enjoy Luffy and Kidd's chemistry in this chapter too. Honestly, that was a very bland presentation of the typical "competitive rivalry" that we've seen many times before. Also, their bonding could have been developed from something more unique than "joining forces to defeat fodder".
I'm not a fan of this chapter. Hopefully, we'll get something more meaningful next time.
Not sure if anyone's picked up on it yet (I don't have the time to read through all the posts here and in the spoiler section…) but that scene with Nami spying on that conversation is a parody from a famous skit in Japan called Akudaikan (悪代官) I'm pretty sure.
Here's a version that Shimura Ken did if anyone is interested.
Apologies if somebody has already brought this up.
Nani training to become a ninja? Hehe love the interaction of the mugiwara and the trafalgar pirates spreading under cover propaganda
So that's how you get it. Pretty good deal, tbh.
Man, you think all this prison stuff is gonna be all grim and rough and then bam, the One Piece kicks in! Seeing Luffy and Kid go all out was delightful, and it's a great way for them to build a rapport.
Didn't catch Caribou in the prison at first, but cool that he's gotten there too. Anime watchers are gonna be a bit confused as to how he got from Fishman Island to a Wano prison, but oh well, if Toei didn't explain Jinbe's Poneglyph then they're not gonna explain this (even though I love his cover story and want to see it animated ;_;)
Oda just keeps topping himself with the SMILE user designs, and I wonder how anyone is gonna top Dobon. Having a character's legs be the bottom lip of a hippo is not something normal people think about…
Overall, an absolute classic. Perhaps my least favorite part was Nami's scene, perhaps it was a bit overdone, but I would prefer that over a super serious spy montage.
This chapter was just okay. I'm liking Kidd more than I expected to.
Hippo guy's life must suck.
@Kaido:

.
If we're lucky, maybe Caribou's path is gonna be explained like Wapol's during that pre-Reverie-Episode (you know, where he ate a tree, got hunted and established a toy-brand).

There's a huge difference between being cautious and being scared. Why would you give your enemies tools to start a rebellion? A dictator with any kind of sense would take their weapons and other means of combat away.
That first page just drags your eyes in every direction here we Go… Enjoy the read y'all!

Glad i wasnt the only one thinking that.
two people making plans in secret while telling the staff not to let the geisha in.
the geisha Robin is not using her abilities to spy on them, but instead uses a clumsy nami. did oda forget that Robin can do spy stuff? i can't even remember the last time she did it. water 7?
also unpopular opinion. i still don't like the wano arc, at least last chapter we got black beard and Moria.
Kamazou is one of the 3 samurais we are looking for along with fishbone guy
Excellent chapter, classic SH hijinks galore
Lol at Beast Pirates plan to break Luffy's spirit with food and exercise

Lol, I don't think Robin has a monopoly on spy work. Nami's a ninja for this arc, so it makes sense that Oda would have her do some spying of her own. Also, there's a difference here you're ignoring. Robin's specific goal is to stand out as a geisha to the point where she can be invited to meet Orochi and then from there find out where the Poneglyphs are. The general spy work/recon is something that Nami and Shinobu can handle on their own.

Funny hippo man is funny.
Damn, you're on a roll.
Next week I'll pull an all nighter just to ruin your streak.
Ok, this was fun. Would have prefered to see the starting interaction between Luffy and Kid, but you can't have it all, I guess.
Guess we can rule out one of the 2 samurai silhouettes as mysterious prisoner. Kamazou the Manslayer looks like a fun character, lol. Just look at that portrait. Wano's Zoro, maybe?
Shinobu is freaking hillarously bad at her job, lol.
Seems Sunkist might have a competition with another chef.
Poor Pandaman got himself captured too. Been a while since I spotted him on first read.
!
Another nice Detail: look at the ship with the block-pile on it. There is a 2nd ship next to it, where the pile Looks "more accurate".
I imagine the more accurate pile belongs to Kid, whereas Luffy's pile Looks more random.
1. Sanji doing useless stuff again as opposed to important work.
2. That old ninja lady is hilarious.
3. Pandaman on page 12. Finally saw one on the first read.
4. Luffy Kidd camaraderie was a bit meh for me. Not sure why.
5. Also, if they want to break luffy and Kidd's spirit they should atleast try to make them work and not feed them. Should weaken them considerably.
6. Hippo guy is just freakishly hilarious man. How can that guy survive like this.
Overall ok chapter.
Kamazou uses a scythe huh?
Next Nakama to face off vs Doc Q? :ninja:
Witching Hour boy doesn't look like someone from the Alliance,
maybe that's Momo's sister silhouetted in front of that crescent moon?
!
Bepo's out with all his chest fur canvassing for rebels
!
Uh-oh, we just learned swords are banned and Usopp is just waving one around?
The audience doesn't react to it, maybe he got a business license
1. Sanji doing useless stuff again as opposed to important work.
Not useless, that army of girls will help their cause.
Master Dobon. Just Master Dobon.
Another, more serious thing: Did I read that right, amputation is punishment? I didn't see Kid's left arm anywhere, so I guess he indeed talked back to the guards and they decided to take his metal arm?
2 things Sanji is good at. Cooking and kicking. The hell is he supposed to do?
Too bad there's only a matter of time before one of Kaido's men recognizes Sanji from SH wanted posters they were shown after SH presence was discovered on Wano. :ninja:
Seriously, though, some more effort could have been made with his disguise.
Straw Heart Kid alliance incoming

Queen has his arm.
Based on what they said about fighting back against the guards, fishbone guy may have lost something. And I wonder who is the warden, king?
So we will see Crocodile buying weapons from Wano ?
Some gun deal was mentioned, I imagine that Crocodile would be second after Doflamingo when it comes to underworld deals.. Maybe he is the one who was hinted at by King, Queen and Jack conversation in earlier chapter?

Since we saw him just with his metal arm after the timeskip, I guess he lost it somewhen during those 2 years. Maybe that is the reason why he is after Shanks:"Guy also has just one arm, but he can't make a metal one like me, so he's gotta be handicapped." If he only knew Shanks better…
EDIT: you can tell he isn't amused about the Amputation-punishment:"If they amputate my arm, I have no arms left."

Queen probably. King hinted it in the last chapter.

My thoughts exactly. Unsurprisingly, Kid comes of as a Zoro rehash this chapter.
What a fantastic chapter. Been a while since I've laughed so much at a manga chapter, in general, not just One Piece. Oda was on a roll here for the entire 18 pages.
Not just the comedy though; the first pages are kinda subdued, but they work wonders to get us in "the mood". When Oda goes micro instead of macro, when he lets himself get into the details of the story, the characterization, the humor, and not just "boom, revelation!" he can be just as good, if not straight up better. This chapter is proof.
@Kaido:

Agree with everything you said, except the Nami scene. I loved it! Shinobu is hilarious. The cat moment alone was worth it. "oh, it's just a cat" "AAAAAARGH!" "Wait, it's a cat and A PERSON!".
Another highlight: "Say something!" "Fully chew your food before swallowing".
Seems Sunkist might have a competition with another chef.
The only thing I didn't quite get from the chapter was that (second) shadowey silouette, who I guess was getting annoyed by Sanji? I'd love it if it was as you say a competitor chef.
Sanji's bout to get challenged to a shokugeki

Just the first thing I thought of. Only someone who works with food would be that bothered by a new chef in town making waiting lines.
Since he calls Sanji a boy, I doubt it's a biggest ladies man on the island or something like that.
